child benifits UK girls....not good news

so because theres no work in an area you expect folk to pack up and move their whole life and family just for a job..so uprouting kids from schools from their home they have known ? talk about having your kids interests at heart

Yeah, actually i would move everyone.

If i couldnt get a job, i consider it IN MY CHILDS INTEREST to get a job. I would move mountains to make his life better.

I dont see how thats such a difficult concept?

Personally, i think that if you WANT to work, but there is none near you - then move.

My work ethic is that i will travel for miles into the city, or into others towns to go to work. If there are none in a certain distance to me, i will move closer to where there IS work. If i were to work in london it would cost me £1700 a year train fair ALONE. Id still do it, because there are better jobs and better salaries there.

No point saying "well there's nothing here, lets claim!" when you'd be better off working in a different town.

I dont think everyone can up stakes and leave a town that hasnt jobs where they have family and ties. Also theres a bit radius where there are no jobs so thats an awful fair bit away to move. Then where you go would be over flown again with poeple and then theres no jobs there. Its like a catch 22. Unless all the unemployed here go to England where there is hundreds of jobs.

I used to walk in to places and ask for jobs thats how I got them. Wasnt looking in papers. Left name in places waiting for them to call if something came up, had a word with poeple I know all that. Make an impression etc. Worked for me its how I got my last jobs.

and to be quite frank we have enuff illigal imigrants in the country and polish in the country which work for less than minimum wage so people are employing these putting normal hard working people out of jobs just so the work place save on a couple of £££

and for claiming the money the country needs of pregnant women is vile they need to claim back all the money the mps took and the bankers are still taking that would go part of the way to paying back the debt..
i dont see david cameron taking some money off his salery

Firstly, if the people on the dole took any work that was available, there would be no jobs left for these "immigrants" to take surely? They work a damn site harder than some English people, fair play to them!!

Also, whats vile about it? Is it vile they cut the child trust fund, taking money from young children? No ... because we as a country are a collective, in one way or another we all contributed toward this mess, pregnant or not  We need to cut things that arent an absolute necessity to benefeit the country as a whole in the long run, not just one group of people.

the sure start maternity grant is avalible to EVERYONE up until april 5th which is the end of the tax year i think...

and im with the ladies on this 1...we should pay our own way for the children fair enuff..but low income familys its abit hard to do and the £500 helped out alot and could get most of the things you need with it

as for OUR country been in so much debt ...the bankers still manage to get their bonuses(in a resession)
the mps done the country out of millions claiming for fu**ing light bulbs gardeners etc..

and to be quite frank we have enuff illigal imigrants in the country and polish in the country which work for less than minimum wage so people are employing these putting normal hard working people out of jobs just so the work place save on a couple of £££

£500 to an mp or bankers isnt alot but to a single parent of low income family its a huge amount of money

i think before saying that low income familys should support their own children and shouldnt have the £500 personally your the people that arnt allowed to claim it

and for claiming the money the country needs of pregnant women is vile they need to claim back all the money the mps took and the bankers are still taking that would go part of the way to paying back the debt..

A few things just to be clear on:

1) - Not everyone can get SSMG
2) - Its capatalism - We live in a country where if your org makes money, you get bonuses. If organisations are not spending public money, or financed publically, why not get bonuses. (Northern Rock have now paid their Government Loan back)
3) MPs are now GOING TO JAIL based on the stupid expenses scandal, because it was/is against the law
4) Whilst the comment on immigrents - hey if we are not going to do the low paid jobs, then someone else who values it will. Oh and plus this Government has actually put a plan in place this year to close the doors and be more strict about immigration.
5) MP's ARE paying back the money, and I am unsure what the bankers should be paying back, if they are not government run?

Its actually the top people in organisations who go and live abroard, but run business here to avoid tax, which causes a problem. I believe I read somewhere that the owner of TOP Shop (or somewhere). His tax bill equates to the amount that is being cut (or similar), but he lives abroard and so can avoid it.

Finally - I woudl LOVE £500 and £500 would help me so much, but I work, and so I cannot claim it!

Liam's exactly the same - he walks in and asks to speak to managers, has conversations with them gets his personality across etc.. worked for him so far!! Except now he's on the hunt again, and he's doing exactly the same this time round too!!

What i said doesnt apply to everyone, and i think with the area you live in its even harder as its pretty remote.. and as you said the number of people willing to be paid much less where you are is quite high.

I mean in general... if i knew i could move 10, 20, 50 miles down the road to get work, i would. If i had to move to the other side of london, i would...

I guess its how desperate you are to find work, and the chances you've got of getting it. I dont believe someone qualified or capable like me should sit waiting for jobs to appear when they definately wont... i will find them instead of letting the jobs find me.

If that makes sense?

most jobs that i seen a while ago state EU perfered! and some are in polish. And no one advertises in the job centre now as they have all the workers. I like Polish people some are my friends and some employers give them crap money which isnt fair. I wish a tesco or sometihng would open here then there be jobs for a lot in the town. I am fine for a job though when my kids go to school I think I am sorted.

My dad works for a massive utility type of company (they fix roads, dig up your street etc etc,) and he told me that his boss can pay a days wages of 3 polish guys compared to the 1 of an English man

He also said in London (ive not seen this myself) that in some areas he works near, they have these big meeting grounds, where people will congregate from 6am onwards, people will turn up, say how many workers they need for the day, grab them, and give them a days work, like some kind of meat farm

Miss_danielle:

then we have a very different work ethic.
i dont know your current situation, but i believe in working to provide my life, and i want my kids to be the same. My OH went to afghanistan because thats his job. Half way around the world, being shot at everyday. THAT is work ethic. I want my children to do everything they can to better themselves.

You say about "packing up and moving your whole life" - work pays for that life, so no job = no life. I wont sit around watching my kids go to school when i know i cant afford their uniform myself, or their shoes, their packed lunch.

I've worked in london before, over an hour away from my house so i could earn enough to live. I didn't need to, i could have claimed jobseekers and not bothered applying. To me, that hour long commute either way was WORTH IT.

I believe in working to pay for yourself. Not sitting back watching everyone else pay it for me. Sorry if thats not what you'd do... but i cant see myself ever being any different.

No matter how desperate someone is for a job there is always places they would never apply too. My friends always 'job hunting' but where I live McDonalds or bar work is always available yet she'd never apply - weirdly.
Your life doesn't evolve around your job - moving might mean more money but will it make you and your family happy? If not you might regret your decision. x

My mum thought that would be the case too, but now people going back into work who have been on benefits will still get their benefits, they will reduce slowly over the years to allow them to get back on their feet. Housing benefit still being paid, tax credits... not being stopped. THIS is how its better to work now than it is to claim. She will be better off no matter how much she earns.

If they took a part time job their benefeits wouldnt be cut entirely, they would just offset the wages against the benefits and make up the remainder.

Getting a job doesnt meant your benefits stop completely.

Kaceys Mummy - money doesnt buy happiness but it gives you independance, the ability to provide for your family, a better quality of life, more treats, instills work ethic into your children....and they make me happy.

why is working seen as bad by so many? im stunned!

My children also come first and i think it's unfair to say that because some of us choose to move to make their lives better.

Sometimes we have to uproot our kids to get better jobs and better living conditions and better pay.

You might not move your whole life for a job but some of us have no choice and i would rather teach my kids that its better to try and make life better for yourself by going against the grain instead of sitting at home having kids and claiming benefits because they dont want to move and make their lives better.

1) But you dont know until you apply...why give up at the first hurdle. Why follow what everyone else is saying. Also why not look at retraining. Being on benefits, you get some much given to you in the way of retraining. WHich will then make you more employable, and then you will be shortlisted as employers can see 'Wow I have had over 100 applicantions, but this one has been training while s/he has been looking for work'.

personally no i wouldnt uproute a whole family for a job you could be sacked from within 6months..the way things are going at the moment there are no jobs out there...my OH works i dont personally work ..but i want to go back to work..
but at this moment in time its not going to happen as i would not and will not leave my kids in a private nursery..with the things that go on in some nurserys these days...
thats what puts people off going back to work early.

:dohh: just because of 1 or 2 news reports, you've written off ALL private nurseries? There are a lot of ladies on here who's kids go to nursery with no problems.

Get a childminder if its that much of a worry. Hire a nanny. Work nights so your OH can take the kids.

If you WANT work you'll find it, its ^^^ that attitude that stops people from even bothering in the first place.

Actually baffled right now.

You are putting barriers in place that dont even exist.

'I may get sacked' or 'What I have heard'.

I am going to sound harsh, but it sounds like a whole tonne of excuses to me...

I agree completely, i feel so lost without my part time job to keep me busy during this time i'm not at Uni. Granted, i was fired for being pregnant (whole different story) but i generally enjoyed it there. Sure, the hours were long and the pay not that good, but it kept me from moping around the house with nothing to do like i am now (though i doubt i could work now, i get tired just going up the staires :haha: )
