Dermoid Cyst

yeah thats brilliant news lu-is hope everything goes well for you xx

Thats good news Lu is...did they say why you're on a waiting list or why its taken a while?

Within a month of me being diagnosed with a dermoid cyst they removed it - they wanted me in two weeks after they found it but I was going to New York for NYE and told them no. (I was lucky my insurance would still let me go though as gynae advised against it)

hi girls well i saw the gynae today and its not great news. my cyst is now 9cm so their going to go in with key hole first and have a look at it but he says usually when they get to that size their usually quite stuck to the ovary so he's not completetly sure if they'll be able to get it out without cutting me right open. Im down for key hole/open surgery/ovary removal as required but ive been told ive got a 3 month wait

thanks ladies

Lu-is thats good news hope they get it done quickly

Kaboom thats not great news, whereabouts in Scotland are you? I'm in the RAH and from seeing the consultant to getting the op im looking at a 4-6 week wait x

Kaboom :hugs: Oh honey!! I hope they manage to sort you out soon!! Did they say why it will take so long?

Random - Im from Kilwinning and I'll be getting my op at crosshouse in kilmarnock

baby france - they never said why it would take that long but he did say if i had really bad pains to go to a&e so i think ill need to go develop some :-$

ive been getting achey pains in my pelvis the last few weeks and he thinks its the weight of the cyst causing it, i really dont think ill manage waiting 3 months with it especially if it keeps growing

I'd develop bad pains too!! Thats disgraceful IMO!

3 months!!! Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you have to wait that long Kaboom! :(
I can really sympathize. The pain sucks! I'm sorry that you'll have to live with the pain for that long.

I really hope I don't have to wait that long, my work and home life have already been suffering - I feel so lazy, I come home and lie down (watch tv, read, etc) and pretty much do that for the rest of the night.

The wait wouldnt bother me that much if it wasn't for the fact im wanting to get back to ttc. If i get away with just key hole and get straight back to ttc after ill have had a 6 month break, if i get the big op god only knows when ill get back to ttc :growlmad:

Hi ladies,
I had a dermoid cyst I cant remember how big it was now tho, initially i had a laparoscopy to lazer the cyst away 3months ish I had a scan to ensure it hadnt returned, it had and bigger, I then had to have the laparotomy and have my whole right ovary removed :( I was devastated as I wanted a baby desperatly 4months later I was pregnant with my wonderful daughter.

its so bad you have to wait so long!! i had to go to a&e one night with horriffic pain the cyst had twisted (this is how they diagnosed the cyst) i had a 2 week wait for a operation and thats cos it was easter and a lot of operations werent schedulaed, i had pain in my right side it was pushing my kidney up, however i had it removed 2weeks later they tried for the keyhole but it was to big and tangled in my ovary! so had to go to laparaotomy, just want to say to you who are waiting to ttc again i have had a son with just 1 ovary after my operation and had no more problems!

its awful you have to wait so long though :(

xxx

Kaboom we really aren't that far away from each other, i'm from johnstone lol. Will need to meet up after my op and i can tell you all about it. If i were you i'd develop bad pains lol. Though i did end up getting the bad pains again and they admitted me then gave me painkillers and sent me home, so don't count on it getting you the op quicker. Have you told them your TTC??? x

pinkone - hi and welcome to our little gang :hugs:

claire99991 - thanks yeah the gynae said since i got pregnant naturally myself before and my af was regular than if i lose the ovary i should be ok :happydance:

random - your not going to believe this but i used to live in johnstone been away since 2003 ? whereabouts do you live ? i wonder if we've ever crossed paths ? yeah the doctor knew about ttc and the miscarriage already but he didnt seem interested in hurrying things up. when he told me how long it would take i was like 'what three months ?' and he goes 'yeah is that alright' er NO :trouble:

your kidding!!

Okay i was brought up across from Henderson's the flower shop, then i stayed in Corseford and now live in Bridge of Weir. I worked in the Wimpy for almost 5 years as well.

I can't believe your having to wait so long, is that from your consultation with the surgeon?? x

random i lived in howwood rd '93-'03 went to J high '93-'98. Yeah 3 months from seeing him to the op i can only think its that long a wait because crosshouse covers most of ayrshire so they must be busy ??

my partner was brought up in howood rd. though they stay on Cochranemill Road now. Yeah i suppose thats why they are soo busy. fingers crossed it flies in if not then you may have to develop the severe pains again xx

i don't think im gonna have to invent any pains the way things are going been having problems ever since i saw the gynae and had a really bad shooting pain go through me when i bent over in work today. think the cyst must of grown ears and heard us talking about it getting removed last week and decided just to annoy me while it still can

lol I can just picture it with an ear or two.. :)

I'm beginning to think my wait will be about 3 months too... I know it's only been 17 days since my consulation with the gyne/surgeon but I really expected to atleast be told a date by this point. How can I plan my spring or summer? or TTC?

*grumble grumble* My pain was quite bad last week too.. I almost considered going to the ER one day... We'll see how this week goes.

i know lu-is im getting impatient too really want to know whats happening now because ive got a weekend away booked for the first weekend in may and i was wanting to book a holiday for the end of may but i can't do anything till i get my appointment :growlmad:

i realised the other day that you were planning on ttc in june so if i get my op in may time and get away with just key hole we'll be starting ttcing the same time :happydance:

Hooray!!!!!
That's why I'd really like to get surgery done soon... I'm worried we won't be able to start TTC in June. (I don't want to give up on the dream yet so I haven't dared remove my counter).
How soon after keyhole surgery do you think it's safe to try and get pregnant?

I really hope you find out soon so you can plan your holidays.
