February Valentines 2012

Her jaundice has totally gone now and she's so alert, awake for 2-3 hours at a time.

spoke too soon she's just been up for 5.5 hours :nope: kept falling asleep then startle reflex would kick in and she'd hit herself in the face and wake up ahhhh!

asleep for now so race is on to make and eat tea before she's awake again!

Anyone else wrestling with reflux issues? :| Poor Aria, I hate not being able to make her feel better. We finally caved and got some medication for her today, through her doctor. It's just gotten worse and worse, the poor doll can't even sleep at night because she's in pain. Bah!

She is a lot more alert which I love but she almost always has an alert time in the middle of the night and it'll last for 2-3 hours. Killer!! lol

lol I'm feling this- Meghan decided 3am was quite a suitable time to wake up for the day!! luckily as we are co-sleeping I managed to doze until 6 but everytime I looked she was awake and feeding or gurgling to herself  Her jaundice has totally gone now and she's so alert, awake for 2-3 hours at a time.

Luckily OH has finished work so is about now for the weekend and the car still sends her to sleep so the combination of driving somewhere then putting her in the sling has helped us to do the supermarket shopping and go into town for a coffee with my friend and she slept through both trips

Hows everyone doing?:hugs::hugs: I'm flitting between being really happy and loving spending time with her to feeling really overwhelmed, usually by the evening when she's ben awake for hours and is getting ratty and overtired.

I'm the same, over the moon then overwhelmed!! Finally got him breastfeeding well, and the midwife who came and weighed him today and was very impressed that he's not lost any weight :happydance: My main issue is my discomfort "down there", my tear is sore and it's really annoying me. How is everyone else healing?

My tear is healed now but those first days were crap. :| I'm still lightly bleeding which stinks though haha. I did have ice packs to use and they gave me a sitz bath and tucks pads too. I never ended up using any of them though. Hopefully I healed up okay, I will find out on Tuesday! lol.

I feel like such a failure...

My milk has slowed so much corbyn wont bf and when i express i only get enough for 3 bottles (i blame this on the bloody c section because my body did nothing naturally)

so we are now having to give corbyn formula as well as ebm :(.

Not only that we woke up this morning and corbyn has a sticky eye :-((

Oh and af has hit big time :-(( i just want to curl up in to a ball and cry

sorry for my moaning

I hope Aria feels better soon Swan.

Mumanddad I hope your milk kicks in again soon. I also had to feed Alaina EBM and formula in the beginning but I'm now breastfeeding exclusively. I also had to have a c section so I wonder if this is a common problem among women who've had c sections.

Hayleigh you are not a failure love. I had troubles in the beginning too - between Aria having issues latching and my milk not coming in nicely because of such, it was rough. We FF and topped with BM, then BF and topped with formula and now exclusively BF. But it took lots of work to get to it. Don't stress babe. Just keep yourself hydrated and skin to skin often, and if he will suckle just let him do that too. It may help stimulate your milk. If you get enough for three bottles in one shot that sounds amazing though. I can't pump more than maybe 3oz per side on a good day and that's a blessing if I can. My body hates the pump. :| but hang in there babe. Is there an LC you can contact for support?

Nope i have asked i have also asked for medication to help ny milk (read about it on google) but they wont give me it :( we still put him to the breast i drink about 6-10 pints of water a day and always have a pint when expressing.

I havr heard natural yoghurt can help increase bm.

I defo think its because of the c section though x

:hugs::hugs::hugs:
google lactation cookies, they're a mixture of natural ingredients that boost milk production.

Like swan says, loads of skin to skin and just keep offering. just stick with it, you're not a failure at all, you had a rough time of it and will take longer to establish bf because of that. Are you on facebook? I'm in a local support group but I think I could add you and there's loads of eperienced mums on there who'll offer support.

Yeh i am, my names hayleigh taylor- my picture is of a group of ladies holding uo my brother xx

ill search them cookies thank you.

Im keeping my calories up too mw said this should help x

I had episiotomy and the pain was horible fo the first week, started getting better hen day 11 was awful again, but since day 12 has been fine, don't need painkillers anymore, can walk and sit down like a normal person again!

I've sent a friend request, I was told 400 extra calories per day but know others who were told 500-1000 extra!

There's also tea that can help with milk production - Yogi brand sells it and I know others too. I'd check that our as I've heard it can help a lot. :) Good luck love and hopefully you can get in touch with someone who will have more ideas too. :hugs: but never think you're a failure. You are busting your BUTT which says a lot. :)

Thank you, you ladies are great what would i do with out you all xx

Mumanddad, I am sorry that you are having such a hard time with milk production! :hugs: You are trying so hard, that is a great thing <3

happy to help, cherubs have been great support to me and Meghan, maybe you could post about your worries about lack of supply etc? I didn't want to do it for you as I wasnt sure how much you'd want to share, but it is a closed group and everyone on there is a breastfeeding mum, Debbie is the group admin and a breastfeeding support worker (and breastfeeding mum)

swan hope Aria is sleeping better for you, have you tried the moby after feeding? I've heard the upright position can help?

Thank you ill post a little later once im on the laptop (using my phone at the moment)

Thank you tequierox

I do wrap and wear during the day after feedings so that seems to help. At night is our biggest issue. We had her sleep between our heads in her newborn lounger this afternoon and that worked. So we will try tOnight and see. It keeps her at a slight incline to help with the reflux I think. FX! She may be getting hives from her medication so we are monitoring her atm. Ugh. I feel awful for my baby girl.

mumdad - there is a natural herb called fenugreek which helps boost milk supply as well. its over the counter at health food shops.
i had awful supply with jesse ( i too had a section ) .
im already armed with them and taking them
