First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Panda- We plan on using a cosleeper bassinet that you put in bed with you like this one. They say babies normally fit until 3 or 4 months. So once he outgrows that we will move him into the crib that will be in our room.

Had a midwife appointment today, and like normal, everything is perfect.
My 1 hour glucose test came back 4.4, which is good. And all of my other blood work came back perfect. I'm measuring 27" which is right on. Baby's heartbeat was 150 and right now he is head down.

Jules: I am having a lot of reflux too. It doesn't matter when/if I've eaten. I hace also definitely noticed a lot more movement lately! Bip is keeping me awake right now.

Pri: so glad the cramps have dissipated! And yay for shower invites- it is definitely hard to believe things are going so quickly!

Panda- we will be keeping Bip in our room until s/he is sleeping relatively well at night. We have an heirloom mini crib (have to get a mattress for it because the in laws only had FOAM in it) that we will be using during that time.

Daisy and xfading: glad to hear everything is going well!

AFM: I'm a week behind on our week-by-week bump photos... but ordered our crib last night! I was looking online and it had been lowered in price so it was time. Also dealing with insomnia at about 12:30 at night... getting the poop kicked out of me!

Does anyone else have a most active time of day for LO? A colleague today told me that that is the time of day you will most likely deliver. My colleagues are also all convinced I'm having a boy; my students are all convinced I know what I'm having and refuse to tell them, lol...

Duster, LO seems active at the most random times! I'd say they are either most active early in the AM (>5:00 AM) or in the evening time like 9 or 10 ish. I feel them wriggle about through most of the day. But evening is when I feel all the little flutters and hard kicks and rolls. It looks like my belly is dancing from the outside!

Has anyone noticed muscular pain towards their pubic bones? It feels like the abdominis rectus muscles are really tender towards my crotch--they feel fatigued when I am wide-stepping over things. Is this normal or possibly a sign of SPD? I don't get any other pains in my legs or hips, except from sacroiliac pain..

Duster- I find him most active first thing in the morning, right as I'm trying to fall asleep at night, and anytime I'm eating. :haha:

Daisy: YES. Very sore there, most often when I'm trying to be moving. I also have the sacroiliac pain.

fading, great cosleeper! Might look into something like that myself since we just plan on bedsharing.

Duster, OMG I get so worried that my pelvis is going to break! have heard all these SPD horror stories and I'm hoping it's just the muscles there that are hurting

Hope everyone has a great weekend! How are all you ladies doing?

Holidays are stressful but I never thought I would be seriously contemplating becoming a single mother so early on in my motherhood journey! Feeling sad but little Zodi in there gives me a nice kick whenever my mind starts to drift. I love this baby so much! They are the only thing that keeps me going sometimes.

Daisy: I'm pretty sure mine is in the joints of my pelvis. The only time it is really bad for me is when I get up after laying down. I honestly have to give myself time to adjust or I'm afraid I will collapse when I stand up!

We got the crib we ordered- I have yet to open it and inspect, though.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I can't say I'm looking forward to spending all day with family but they aren't the worst, either. Anyone making anything special? Dh and I are making cornbread stuffing (with homemade vegetable stock), mashed potatoes, and deviled eggs with eggs from our chickens! :)

Pri- Yay for baby shower invites!! We are all on the final countdown (cue song). Lol I understand the worry, hopefully the little guy will come on schedule rather than early on his own time.

Fading- I saw that, it’s pretty cool for bed sharing. So glad your appt. went well! :)

Duster- So cool your crib came! That was pretty fast. :) She is most active in the morning and late evening, it will be interesting to see if it correlates with her time of birth. All of your Thanksgiving food sound amazinggg!!!! I made pumpkin rolls.

Daisy- I get a little pain there after laying or sitting for too long, but usually goes away once I'm up and moving. I am sorry you’re feeling a little sad. It will be hard, but she will be totally worth it.

AFM: We went to our in-laws for Thanksgiving which was okay. They buy everything cooked already and just heat it up. It's not what I am used to at all and half of it is stuff I don't even like. Good thing we go to my brothers after, I always make them save me food. Lol I was realllly disappointed in my side of the family though. My one brother is having some drug issues so he was MIA, my dad decided to go somewhere else this year, and my mom was supposed to stop by my other brothers then called to say she was tired so she wasn't coming so I should come up there before driving home. I got a little snippy because it was already late, she is 30 minutes the opposite direction, I had to get up for work today, plus we had to drive about an hour or so to get home. I just got frustrated because none of them have made an effort to see me this whole pregnancy. I haven't seen any of them since August and that's because I went to see them, not one person has come to visit since April of last year. I only live about an hour away!! It’s just really ridiculous...oh well. My rant over. Lol

Anyone black Friday shopping?

Duster that sounds delicious!! Let us know how the crib turns out :~) OH and I did fish, salad, and garbanzo beans and baked apples as we really don't eat poultry and it's just the two of us on vacation. Was very tasty

Jules, sounds like a lot of rigamaroo on your Thanksgiving :( Did you get any of your brother's Thanksgiving leftovers? I hate it when people expect me to make the effort all the time but they hardly try to come my way. Especially being pregnant, things are just a lot harder to do.

AFM enjoying the beach. Cold, but enjoying it very much.

I'm so jealous of all you ladies celebrating Thanksgiving. Our was back in October. I'm craving turkey, gravy, and stuffing right now. :nope:

I did a little bit of Black Friday shopping online. Just bought baby 4 onesies and a cute little jean jacket.

Fading: Thanks for the cosleeper pic! I am looking for something like that in case the baby won't take to the crib right away or if I have a C-section or something and getting up is harder.

Quick updated and rant: I've been hosting family for Thanksgiving and doing lots of cooking (still here this weekend). Promise to do a better catchup soon w/everyone. Crib came and I was so excited I put it together by myself before hubby got home to surprise him.

Had a checkup and baby measured 28cm at 27 weeks so that's good. HB 150 and she said she doesn't determine baby's position until week 34.
Glucose test was fine. Iron was borderline so I was instructed to just add more to my diet.

My rant:
Doc gave me a little bit of a hard time about my weight!!! I've gained 17lb so far but basically .5-1lb a week except for a growth spurt early in 2nd tri.

She said I should only gain 20lb but I wasn't technically overweight and my BMI was fine to start. I was a little taken aback and now I've been freaking out about eating over Thanksgiving. I think she's crazy as most sites say 25-30lb is normal and I'm exercising a lot and eating pretty healthy. GRRR! Now she's in my head and I feel like a water buffalo! She's a skinny health nut so I think it's prob just her being conservative about weight gain in general, but wondering if anyone else had feedback from their doc/midwife?

Panda: I'm sorry your doctor gave you a hard time about weight gain. 17lbs seems completely fine and normal to me.
I've gained about 25lbs already (I gained 20lbs within the first 20 weeks or so) and my midwife has not said a single thing to me about my weight.

My phone app today says "by this time most women have gained an average of 17 to 25lb" sooo . . . my doctor is crazy. She's fine in every other sense but I have to not let her weight guidelines upset me. I didn't respond last time, but I will say something if she makes another comment.

just catching up rereading the posts from you guys. My family finally left so I was better able to concentrate. Had a great time seeing them all, but it was chaos at my house.

Duster: Congrats on getting crib! It's so fun!

Pri: Yay for invites! How is your registry coming along? Have you finished it?

Daisy: I had pain around my pubic area on and off for a couple of weeks around weeks 25-26 and definitely when getting up after sitting or lying down. I had one day I ran into Ikea to grab some things and walking was really bothering me. I got a bit worried, but it was fine after a few hours of resting. I think it's all part of the stretching and growing. Hope it's better!

Jules: I'm sorry about not getting to see all of your family. That is frustrating that they live so close and haven't come to visit. I hope they step up and visit you soon.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! Xfading, too bad your are not closer. My sister had sick kids and couldn't come since they didn't want to risk my getting sick (nice of them even though I was sad to miss them) so we had 5 less than expected and I have too many leftovers!!! I'd gladly share!

Hi ladies!!!

I see that Thanksgiving went well to most of you.
Jules, I'm sorry yours was disappointing and you did not get to spend with your family... and I'm sorry you haven't seen them as much as you would like. This family things can be hard, but maybe sometimes you need to express how you feel....

Fading, that's right that your Thanksgiving was in October!!! Hope you enjoyed it then :) Very nice bassinet!!! I won't be buying a bassinet. A friend of mine told me her 2 children never used it, that they ended up sleeping on their swings before being transferred to the crib, so I am hopping to be able to do the same. If that doesnt work, then I will have to run to buy one after baby is born!

Panda, I think your weight is right on track. And good for you you have been exercising! I would not worry about it... the Saturday before Thanksgiving I weighed my self and I had gain exactly 17 lbs. This morning I had gained 3 lbs which really concerned me! I never gained 3 lbs in a week! And I dont feel I overate on Thanksgiving... will give it another try tomorrow haha.
But you seem healthy, baby is healthy and that's what matters!

Duster, congrats on the crib and better yet, that you assembled it!!! You are still team yellow, right??? That's so cool!! :)

Daisy, I';m sorry you are feeling a little down, but our hormones can really mess up with our minds! I would not make any decision on anything for now! I'm glad you enjoyed the beach!!!! and yay for healthy lunch!

AFM:
thanksgiving was good! Went to 2 friends houses, had lunch in one and dessert in the other :)
On Saturday we went to Ikea and bought a little storage thing for the nursery. We chose a chair that I will use as a nursing chair, but at least for now the idea was to leave at the family room because my back is not liking the couch, but when we went to get it, it was out of stock. We will be back this week to see if they received more!

I'll have a dr appt this Friday, so let's see how little Ben is growing and behaving!

this pelvic pain you all were talking about, I'm not sure if is the same one I feel sometimes.. Mine I think is more as a ligament pain and it happens if I move to quickly or if I'm laying down and sit up or stand up too quickly! It lasts a couple of minutes and then it is gone.
Also, I think it has been a week since my last leg cramp :happydance:

Wishing you all a great week!!! :)

Panda: I have gained 30 lbs and my OB has said nothing about it.

Pri: awesome that you are getting some things for the nursery!

AFM: lots of little stuff going on here. Thanksgiving was tolerable; I definitely ate my fill. I am picky about leftovers so didn't come home with any. That was fine with me! I also did a little Black Friday shopping, but did it online. I bought myself some dining sets of Fiestaware in different colors. DH painted he nursery with the first coat of paint yesterday; pic is attached but the color is a little more tan than it shows up. I also ordered a mini crib mattress; we have an heirloom mini crib that DH was in when he was a newborn but it is a custom size so had to do a custom order. My sister also got me the CUTEST quilt- I had been looking at it at a craft fair where she had a booth selling ornaments. It was a bit too expensive for me, but she got it for me and gave it to me as an early Christmas present without even knowing I looked at it! She wanted to be the first to give me a blanket; pic is attached.

I have my 30-week checkup tomorrow. I know my OB will want to do my TDaP shot soon but I am nervous to have it done; last time I had it I had a really bad reaction. I'm hoping she will refer me to an allergist to have it done so I can be monitored.

Glad to hear you ladies are doing well! I am definitely carrying low so my ligaments have been quite sore but otherwise I'm doing great too!

pri, GL on your appt on Friday!

Duster, the quilt looks great! Hard at work :~)

Seems like the belly gets bigger every day! It's getting so real, our little treasure will be here before we know it

I have been gaining 1.5lb per week during second trimester, with 25 lb gained at 28 weeks appoint... My doctor seems to think it's fine (I, on the other hand, was quite worried). According to my doctor, as long as you have been eating relatively healthy, 25-35lb is normal, and some people gain earlier, some gain later, every pregnancy is also different... You have nothing to worry about!

Panda, I'm not sure if this helps but I have gained pretty much 1lb per week since I have gotten pregnant. I only saw my MW for the first time at 7 weeks pregnant and I weighed in at 108 so that is what they have been using as a base, but really PP I was around 102-104 (was struggling to keep my weight up on a vegan plastic-free diet )
Every time I have gone in for a check up there or at the WIC office (so about 2x a month) my weight has been on point for 1lb a week. Thus far I have gained a total of 24-26 lbs since my last weigh in.

It's so hard to measure what it is you're holding on to in weight! A lot of it could be water, or a lot of it could be weight stuck in your bowels (do you poop regularly?) Anyway, sorry your MW is giving you a hard time. If you feel healthy I think you'll be ok. Not every woman fits into the little narrow box of standards that whoever lays out for us to follow :hugs:
