First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Panda- I am at 17 pounds too, my regular doctor hasn't said a word. At my last appt. I saw a different one and she said she is concerned. I had to explain to her that I gained 10 pounds by 9 weeks, because I was taken off metformin and that I also have PCOS. Even though I know she had no clue what she was talking about I have been weird about eating and am scared to get weighed in again. Don't they know we are at a sensitive time! lol Unless it's like some crazy weight gain and someone is eating really horrible then I don't see an issue. My friend gained 65 pounds and was back in her regular clothes within a few months. I just think it depends on the person.

panda- Glad you had a good Thanksgiving! :) Bummer that the chair was out of stock, hopefully they get it back in soon. Good luck at your appt.!!

Duster- I love that quilt!!! So pretty. They are great to use as keepsakes that you can pass down. We have a few that my grandma made and I used as a baby. Hope all goes well at your appt. and the shot isn't too bad.

AFM: Anyone else have braxton hicks? I think I had two this week on separate days. My stomach got super tight for a few seconds then went away. Such a weird feeling. I have my ob appt. on Thursday for my diabetes test so I will bring it up to her.

Happy December Ladies!!! Only 2 full moths to go!! :)

I don't think I've had any bh... or if I have I couldn't tell. Once and a while my stomach will get very tight and sore but it lasts for about 5 minutes at a time. So I think it's just baby curling up and moving into a weird position.

Jules I get a few BH a day. They are more frequent when I walk but usually don't notice them as much moving around unless I have to pee or baby is really low. Magnesium supplements can help with BH if they are too frequent. Mine don't really bother me very much and my MW says it's completely normal.

Hi Ladies!

Duster,
Loved the quilt!! so cute :) and so nice that you wanted and your sis bought it without knowing you wanted!!
How did your appt go yesterday?

I think we are all more or less on the same track as far as weight gain!

Daisy,
you are soo skinny!! I think I weighed 107 lbs when I was 17, then never again! haha

here is a picture I just took at work. 29 weeks today :)
10 weeks to go!!!! :happydance:

I think I might have had some BH, but not sure if it is just baby moving or if they are BH.

duster: Love the quilt and the wall color! That's exciting!

Jules (and others): thanks for the commiseration on the weight thing. I, too, knew my doc was being crazy yet suddenly felt so insecure and unsure what to eat after she said that! Hormones make you so sensitive! (my GI doctor confirmed that she disagrees with my Obgyn and thinks my weight is perfect and my trainer also thought I looked super healthy so I've been feeling better, just trying to keep eating healthy) . . . as for BH, I haven't had any that I'm sure of, just a bit tightness now and then like xfading is describing. Are they obvious to you? Sometimes I wasn't sure if the tightness was BH, but it seemed too subtle.

Pri: Love the picture. You look so cute!!

Daisy: agree that it feels like belly grows a little every day now.

AFM: We are going to do our on online birthing class on Saturday and hospital tour on Sunday. I'm excited to see the hospital. I've only been there once for a blood test so I haven't seen much of it. Baby has been making bigger movements this week. Sometimes takes my breath away. My lil kicker has a favorite spot to kick on my right side up high by my rib so it's started getting sore there even though he still moves around a lot. Anyone else have a sore spot from kicking?

I ordered a nursing nightgown and robe in case I need PJs at hospital (Kohls has some) and I ordered some warm skid proof socks since I hate hospital socks. I started reading some lists on what to pack in the hospital bag tho I haven't packed anything yet. My trainer also recommended bringing lollipops saying they won't let you eat anything while in labor but many docs will let you suck on lollipops or ice.

Pri and Fading- Look at those cute bumps! :)

Panda- So exciting that you guys get to do the tour and stuff this weekend! Mine is loving my left ribs too. I really love feeling kicks, but sometimes it gets sore when she really gets her legs going. You reminded me that I have to get my socks and nightgowns too, its the only thing I have left to put in my bag. I didn't think of lollipops so I will grab some of those too, thanks for the suggestion!! :)

AFM: had my glucose test today. The drink wasn't too too bad, I just felt very hyper for a while. lol Baby girls hb was perfect and no concerns. I love that reassurance at these appts. Officially starting my every other week appts. now! :)

I added my 28 week picture. I'll be 29 weeks on Sat

Jules: Your bump is so cute, too!

I haven't even started on buying anything for myself.. I should really start making lists of what I'll need at the birth center and afterwards. I plan on a water birth, but I don't really know what to bring in regards to clothes. I'd like to not go fully naked.. So maybe like a flowy tankini swim top? Then I'll at least be a little covered, but it will be easy to breastfeed afterwards.
Also kind of a dumb question... What are you ladies buying for pads for afterwards? Can you just use regular period pads, or something like incontinence pads, or is there actually specialty post-postpartum ones you can buy? I'm clueless. :haha:

Wow! Loving everyone's bump pics. Have to take my 27 week one and I think I'll put it on here too.

Panda, my BH are more obvious to me and I've noticed they are more frequent too than a few weeks ago. They haven't gotten to the point where it's uncomfortable but it does feel weird having this tight ball squeeze itself silly when trying to walk somewhere. Good idea on starting the bag--have made many drafts of a list myself but really need to start putting it together. Thinking some gowns and pads and snacks since I will be at a birth center for a few hours. Do you have to pay for online birthing classes? OH and I have been looking at the ones in our area and I'm just not too compelled by any of them. Let me know how it ends up being

Jules, hope the results of your GTT goes well! Always a good feeling when everything is normal at the check up. love your bump pic!

Pat, I think I will just go to Costco and grab a big ass package of super absorbent pads. Since it's blood coming out I think they would fare better than incontinence pads (??) Not sure as I'm FTM, but not entirely sure whether there are postpartum pads or not. I'm doing a water birth too, but I plan on being naked since it will just be me and OH in the room. Defo bringing extra tank tops, panties, light jacket, comb, yoga pants/shorts since you will be sweating your ass off and will likely need to change several times in the few hours after birth. And some snacks to munch on while you're in labor like cheese or peanut butter xx

AFM: Babe did something really weird last night! Usually they are lying in the middle or lower in my womb. Well I was meditating last night on my back and I swear they were stretching out their whole body in there with their butt pushing up against my diaphragm on the right side. I could feel their little fingers or toes swishing around my cervix--what a bizarre feeling!

Anyway I did some forward bends and twists and they were really comfortable where they were so I just let them stay there. Felt like I was able to communicate with my baby last night through meditation. She just reassured me that she's going to find her way out of there OK, she's healthy and really looking forward to meeting everyone

fading- A water birth sounds amazingggg. :) I may bring some depends and heavy duty pads to see which work best. I heard the hospital will give you some as well.

daisy dreamer- That sounds like a really special experience with your little one. I always feel most connected when I really take a few minutes to just be still and talk/sing to her. Its amazing how much love you can have for someone you have never met.

AFM: I had a great weekend! I guess I guilt tripped my family because my dad and his gf came to spend the whole day with me on Saturday. lol We had lunch then when shopping for a rocker/glider. We found one at a little Amish furniture shop and is absolutely beautiful. Also, I am not sure if anyone is on the fb group or not, but we did a shower gift exchange. I was surprised to get a box with a crochet blanket and some other awesome stuff. I dunno, it all just made me realize that our babies will be here so soon! I hope everyone else is doing well! :)

Hi Ladies!!

Panda, how was your hospital tour and birthing class??

Jules, glad your glucose test wasnt so bad either. When are you getting the results?
I'm not on the fb group! Nice that you did a gift exchange there! And veeery nice you got a visit from your dad :hugs:

Fading, so cool you are doing water birth! It must be soo less stress!
As far as the pads, I heard/ read we will bleed heavier on the first 3 days, which we will be in the hospital (well, not you!), but the hospital normally provides the heavy duty pads. Then it kind of slows down and becomes more like a period, so a regular period pad should work. For you, I would buy only 1 pack of the tick ones and then you should be go to go with the ones you are used to using it.

Daisy, loved your experience with your daughter :)

AFM:
I had my ob/gyn appt on Friday. My Ben would not stop moving.. we could not get a 4D picture because he as moving too much and had his arm in front of his face, so I left the office with only 1 picture of him haha!
But he is fine, everything is good and going well. Last time they told me he was a couple of days behind, now apparently he caught up (that explains why I gained more weight than normal on the last 2 weeks, I guess...)
And we are starting appointments every 2 weeks, so next one is on Dec 18.
Simply cant believe right after it, comes Christmas!

Anyone here due on the first week of February???

pri- Sounds like you have a very active, growing little guy in there. :) I'm glad everything went well at your appt. I can't believe how fast the holidays are approaching then next thing you know we will all be in labor watch!:happydance:

It took about two days to get my results and found out I failed the glucose test miserably. :nope: So now I have to do the 3 hour test next Thursday, basically a week before Christmas. I kinda knew because I felt absolutely horrible the day I had the drink. I got super hyper with a headache then crashed so hard I had to leave work early. I know it wouldn't be huge deal if I do have it, but something not being normal makes me nervous.

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA but work is super crazy at the moment- being a music teacher I am busy preparing for our winter program and then I crash at home as soon as I get there!

My appointment went well; Bip is measuring right on schedule which makes me happy. :) I have an ultrasound (ideally my last) tomorrow morning, bright and early at 7am to check the position of the placenta. This will most likely determine if I will be able to have a vaginal birth or will need to have a C-section. I'm hoping for a natural birth but know that either way, I want what is healthy for Bip. We also have our birthing class coming up this Saturday.

I am due February 8, so I'm close to the first week in Feb. My husband told me that statistically, women are most likely to deliver a week early. Interesting!

I love seeing all of your bumps! Next time DH takes my weekly photo I will have to have him take a photo I can upload on here easily. My bump is HUGE compared to you ladies. Maybe it's because I have a small frame but I can't imagine that's all of it.

xfading: So cool about the water birth! I'm hoping my birthing suite has some sort of bath where I can relax....

I have found that I bleed around pads. Maybe diapers would be the best course of action for me. I absolutely despise pads; I usually use a menstrual cup. I am definitely not looking forward to the postpartum bleeding.

Hi ladies,

I can't believe how fast the time is going . . . yet after watching the birthing videos on the online birthing class, I was feeling so ready to get going into labor, hahaha. I was like "okay I get this, let's do it!!" and then realized I have 2 more months at least.

The class was very helpful. Especially videos of the different actual birth stories of different couples with different experiences because seeing it all happen makes all the medical jargon make sense. I have definitely solidified my hope of not having to do any meds/epidural and just using natural techniques but planning to keep an open mind. They gave some helpful info on different labor positions and breathing techniques which you can print and give to hubby/partner to help remind you during labor.

The tour was cool. Great hospital. It's basically a major birthing hospital in the country so that's their focus and they have a lot of nice perks. I was just a little disappointed that they only have one labor tub for the floor though, so hopefully we don't have to compete to get time in the tub as we're hoping to use that as a labor aid.

Baby's checkup was Thursday and he was measuring right on schedule at about 29cm for 29 weeks. Doc was talking so fast about general info and Christmas plans that I completely forgot the questions I had to ask! I need to write them down for next time. I did find out my insurance DOES cover free breast pump. They sort of hide that info so I'm glad I dug it up. Apparently the ACA made it so all insurance has to cover them, but I have to get a prescription from doc and buy from one of their vendors.

Jules: So sorry about the glucose test results. That sucks :( Hope the 3 hour test goes better, but sorry you have to go through that. Very glad about some of your family visiting though!

Fading: Water birth does sound nice! Do you do any kind of birthing class or video that's particular to prepare you for that?

Duster: Hope your placenta check goes well!!

Pri: Very funny about Ben moving so much. Prob frustrating to not get as many pics, but a great experience to remember :)

DaisyD: So glad you are having nice bonding moments with baby. I love to just stare at my belly and watch him move now that I can see him shift. It makes me giggle.

You girls reminded me I need to take a new bump photo. I keep forgetting! Love all your pics tho. I am not carrying very front-heavy so people keep telling me I don't look 7 mo pregnant which is kind of annoying in a way, and sometimes they say "oh i wasn't even sure you were pregnant" . . . well then how fat do you think I am??!!!

Hi ladies!! Not sure if you all remember me, but I had a February due date until my mmc in July. I'm happy to announce that I just got a BFP!! This time it took us 3 cycles of trying. The line is starting to get darker, so I'm hoping this one sticks. I'm glad you ladies are doing well, and I'm also super glad I'm back especially before my original due date. Just wanted to pop in and say hi!!
:hugs::cloud9:

ksquared- Of course we remember you!! I am so happy your back with a bfp. Wishing you the best of luck and health with your new pregnancy! :) Make sure to keep us updated.

Panda- It sounds like the class was a really helpful for you both. Definitely sounds like a good hospital! So glad your checkup went good as well. :) Birth videos can definitely help with preparing for the birth process. I have been watching natural birth videos like crazy lately just to get myself prepared. It gives me comfort to know if those ladies could do it pain free then so can I....at least that is what I tell myself. lol

duster- I hope everything went well at your u/s and your birthing class. That is pretty interesting that it said a week early. I keep having this nagging feeling I will go early, but with my luck I will end up in the overdue club. lol

Ksquared!!
So glad you showed up in here and with the best of news!!!!
and you are more than welcome to pop up in here and keep us posted on your pregnancy!!! So happy for you :hugs: :happydance:

Jules:
sorry about the glucose test... hope this one goes well and you can be "done" with it!

Panda:
cool that you got to see the hospital and do the birthing class! And you go girl, being brave enough to want to try all natural! I decided on my C-Section months ago haha
I think I suffered enough with my back and I'm traumatized for life!
Yayyyy for the breast pump, I think you are right, most insurances cover them, but you need to call and confirm. Mine works the same way as yours, you either get a prescription and go to Walgreens, or you can buy from their authorized vendors and they would wold directly with the insurance to get it approved.

Duster:
so you had your last ultrasound on Friday? Isn't too early for the dr / midwife to decide if vaginal or C-Section? Can the placenta and the baby move around on these 2 months?

AFM nothing new... looks like belly is bigger than my last belly pic I posted here last week. He grew this past week!
Had 2 very busy weeks at work, but now things are already slowing down for Xmas and New Years!
Had also my company Xmas party last Friday, and it was fun!
Going back to my last dr appt for the year this Friday, Dec 18.
Can't believe the year is pretty much over already!!!

Hope you all have a great week!

ksquared!!! That is such great news. I actually thought of you again just the other day and wondered if you might be pregnant again. I am so happy to hear the news! Stick around and keep us updated. :happy dance:

Thanks, ladies!! So far so good. I'm 4+2 today so officially missed AF now. Test was really dark yesterday morning so I'm feeling more calm. Only told my parents and DH's sister, so I think I'll take a digital tomorrow and use the pic to announce via text to the rest of our immediate family and a couple of close friends. After a loss, there won't be any clever announcements until (if) I make it to 2nd tri and get to announce via Facebook :). Which will actually be right after my original due date in Feb!

ksquared: congratulations! So exciting, and we are happy to see you back!

Jules: did you take your 3-hr test yet?

AFM: Sorry I've been MIA again. I have a sick rabbit at home who needs attention multiple times a day- and has kind of been sitting stagnant on the "road to recovery". Also had our winter concert at school this week; being a music teacher of K4-8th grade students it's quite an undertaking but it went amazingly well!

Yes, I did have my ultrasound. It is clearly possible for the growing/stretching to be affected. The main concern that the perinatologist had was that my placenta was low-lying, 1.5cm away from my cervix. They want it to be at least 2cm away for a vaginal birth, so I clearly wasn't meeting that criteria at the last ultrasound. At this one, my placenta measured 5cm away from my cervix- so I'm good to go as far as placenta location! However, Bip is breech at the moment. I know there is plenty of time for that to change but wouldn't that just be my luck? Get the go-ahead for placenta location and still end up with a C-section because baby is breech.

I also had my birthing class last weekend. I don't know that I learned a lot- I did learn about the three stages of labor which was interesting- but DH learned a lot and so I'm glad of that. :) I also learned that he is the most supportive partner I could ask for. He has already told me that no matter how long labor takes, he won't be leaving my side as long as he can stay there.

My pelvis is getting super sore underneath. I feel like I'm going to break in half, but laying down and walking both seem to help. So I need to keep doing those things!

I hope you ladies all have a wonderful, safe, and happy holiday season. If you get time off work, enjoy it. If not, I hope things don't get too crazy and the time at work goes quickly!
