First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Hi ladies,

Had a very quick check in this morning. Was relieved baby's heart rate has been on the higher end (high 150s to low 160s) and today it was 141 which is good because it means it's slowing down as he gets bigger as it should.

Doc didn't say much about measurement, but I was 25cm at 25 weeks so I guess that's perfectly average from what I googled.

She gave me my labs for next visit (2 weeks from now) which will include the glucose test. Glad to hear it's not too bed. I hate drinking weird stuff!

I'm with you all on getting more uncomfortable. I basically have to alternate sitting and walking around all day. I get sore after too much sitting and sore after too much walking. Same with alternating sides in sleep. From what the girls in my yoga tell (who are in weeks 30-38) the sleeping only gets harder! Fingers crossed not too bad.

Pri and xfading! Double digits today! Yay!! :happydance:

P.S. Forget to mention. I saw a tiny bit of dried yellow on my nipple when getting in the shower last night. Think I might be starting to leak colostrum. Either that or I got food down my shirt and didn't notice, lol.

Daisy- Welcome! I hope all is going well with you so far. :)

Duster- Woohoo for double digits!! :)

Pri- I'm sure I will be jealous of that weather soon. lol So far it has been a super mild autumn...just hoping its not the calm before a horrible winter. The glucose test didn't sound too bad. How long before you get your results?

Fading- Yay for you being in the double digits as well! I can't believe how fast it's going.

Panda- Glad to hear that baby is doing well. :)

AFM: I have been having some serious heartburn issues no matter what I eat. I have tried everything, thankfully the antacid chews I got give me some relief. Other than normal pregnancy wear and tear I am feeling great.

We finished our registry and my mom told me my shower is January 9th so I'm super excited!!

I will have my glucose test at my next visit so I am happy to hear it isn't too bad. Did anyone else's doctor have them take the drink home? They gave me a choice of lemon lime or orange. The day before I stick it in the fridge. Then the morning of I eat a small protein breakfast and chug the drink about 45 minutes prior to my appt. I had to make sure to mark it so that hubby doesn't get tempted to drink it. lol

Jules . . . that's you, Pri, and I who all have baby showers on Jan 9th!

For heartburn. I take probiotics and they have really helped. Check with your doctor but mine said they are safe during pregnancy. I take a brand called Jarrow from Whole Foods.

Hope it gets better! It sucks! I had it 2 nights terrible then nothing since, so I think it does come and go. Fingers crossed for you.

That's nice they let you bring the test home! I have to sit in the office and wait an hour next time. They already warned me.

Too funny that 3 of us have the baby shower on the same day!
So exciting!!!!!!!

Yes, I heard of people that took the drink home.
Jules, but strange they are allowing you to have some sort of breakfast.
Normally it is fasting!

Mine I took in the dr's office, but it was cold. Actually too cold I was having problems drinking it fast LOL.
But I could not eat anything since dinner on the previous night, I had my blood drawn before the drink, then the drink, 1 hour waiting (I took a book and was chatting with a friend of me, so it actually went very fast) and then blood drawn after 1 hour.

I'm not having heartburn per say, but sorry for the TMI, I noticed that if I eat too much carbs, I burp a lot
Not fun either!

Panda, great that he is doing great and your appt went well!
Good luck with the labs and glucose!

Jules: Sorry for the heartburn!! they suck :(
And great you are done with the registry!!!!!

I keep adding things to mine, so I will never be "done" haha

Just took my glucose test today and it wasn't bad at all. They only had the orange flavored, but it was cold and didn't taste too gross.
They didn't take my blood before though, which I found weird. Unless my midwife requested not to as all of my past blood work has came back perfect. They just timed me drinking it (had to finish within 5 minutes) and had me sit for the hour. Then they took my blood after.

Hi ladies! 28 weeks today; I cannot believe how fast this is going! Next OB appointment is tomorrow afternoon- now I start boing every two weeks!

I feel like I have a lot of the same things going on as you ladies- reflux (Tums have been my best friend), and the soreness. If DH and I are walking together I often find myself asking him, "can we go slower?" I find the bouncing at a fast pace to be quite uncomfortable. I'm also finding that moving after sleeping is when I feel the most soreness; I actually have to be careful getting up because sometimes the pain is too much. Yesterday my left leg almost didn't support my weight, and a fall means another trip to the doctor...

My nipples have also started getting tingly... and if I squeeze them I get a tiny little bit of clear liquid out of them- so clearly they are getting ready for breastfeeding!

I also finally signed up for my childbirth class- December 12. Because of my and DH's schedule, we opted for a one-day class. I have yet to schedule a tour of the birthing center...

Ladies, I believe I will also be having a shower on Jan 9! :)

How did everyone's glucose tests turn out? Mine was normal.

Sorry I haven't been around in a while. Last time I wrote a post, my browser crashed and lost it all.

Hi Duster!

yes, it is going super fast! Yayy for 28 weeks and dr appt tomorrow!!
Yes for all the symptoms, including shortness of breath. My hubby has asthma and allergies to everything; I just coudnt understand his shortness of breath, now I think I'm having more trouble than him!

Yayyyy for baby shower on Jan 9th!!! too funny we have lots of us on the same date!
and talking about baby shower.... are you ladies waiting to see what you are going to get for then run and see what you still need to buy, or are you just buying whatever?

I feel that we have so little, but I dont want to start buying a whole bunch of stuff either.....

No one from the OB office called me to say anything about the glucose test, so I'm assuming that no news is good news!

Wishing you all a great week :)

Fading- That doesn't sound too bad. Hopefully you get good results!

Duster- Hi!! How exciting you are up to the 2 week appts! :) I honestly can't believe how fast time is going. I was just thinking today about how November is almost over then just two full months before February. Have fun at you class, we are taking the one day class too.

Pri- We are waiting until after the shower to see what else we need. For now I just grab cute clothes here and there, stocking up on diapers, and getting/making nursery stuff.

Speaking of nursery. Has anyone started to decorate or plan on doing some projects? We are doing a Once Upon a time/Classic Cinderella theme. She is sharing a room with us until we move so we have dedicated a corner to her. lol So far we have the crib/changing table(won't get til Christmas), I ordered a picture from Etsy, my friend brought me back a glass slipper from the Czech Republic, and I made a cute frame over the weekend. :)

Jules,
that's such a cute and lovely idea!
Please send us pics once you are done!!!

We are splitting 1 big room between an office space and the nursery.
I added to my registry those wall decors, but I think I will end up buying them on my own to leave it ready, not sure! We have the crib already. Bought it on sale maybe a month ago, it is already assembled :)

Duster,
great all is well, glucose came back normal and that you are at 28 weeks already!
Too cool about the baby shower date! I think the others that are not on Jan 9, should now change to Jan 9, so we all can have a party together :happydance:

Ordered my invitations this past weekend, should be getting them by Friday.

AFM my glucose also came back normal :)
And I'm still dealing with leg cramps during the night!!! I'm very grateful and thankful I'm not having sciatica or back pain, as this was a very big concern of mine, but I'm really getting tired of those cramps!

Baby will be sharing our room as well, and I've started a bit of decorating along the one wall that he will have.
We have the wall painted blue, have a dresser/storage shelf set up, and have 4 Disney pictures hanging on the wall.
I'm also working on painting some name letters for him with Batman designs on them.

Hi everyone! I feel like it's been so long since I checked posts but I'm still waiting for my glucose appt on Tues so I guess it hasn't been that long. haha.

We are working on the nursery now, too. We cleaned out our guest room and moved some of it to a basement area to make that a guest area. We have the basement mostly finished off, we just need to put in the ceiling which hubby is hoping to do over Christmas break.

Nursery is painted and we got the rug and curtains in (see pic) and the crib is on its way. Sister-in-law gave us her old changing table which was dark wood so we are painting it white. I am going to make an IKEA run tomorrow for some shelfs and baskets . . . I think we'll have all the big stuff in by end of Thanksgiving week and then we are just going to wait and see what we get at the shower. Rocking chair is the only furniture item on my registry. My parents were nice enough to buy us the crib already.

We have a panda theme and I bought some panda decals to put on the wall but have to wait for furniture to be in to put them up. I'm so excited to play with those, haha.

As for pregnancy . . . also getting some reflux if I eat too many carbs or eat too big a meal. Mostly not bad so far, though. Sometimes I put 3 pillows under my head to sleep sitting up more. Baby has some STRONG kicks now and occasionally I'm like "OW!!" but I love feeling him move around in there and watching my stomach move makes me laugh.

Jules: I love the Cinderella idea! That's so sweet :) I love fairy tale stuff. The glass slipper sounds cool!! What a great gift!

Duster: Name letters with Batman designs sounds awesome. Post a pic when it's done!

Panda: that's xfading with the Batman letters, not me! :p

The nurseries all look and sound so nice, ladies! DH is doing ours and hasn't gotten very far, lol... he will be finishing after Bip is born, I'm sure... but I can't complain. He spoils me rotten!

So when I went in for my OB appointment Tuesday, I went in and the only other people sitting in the waiting area are the people we moved to get away from. Not to mention the receptionist was practically shouting my address so now these people know where we live... ugh. I didn't say something but in hindsight I wish I would have.

We are supposed to get measurable snowfall Friday-Saturday! Not looking forward to that.

Am I the only one not doing a nursery? OH and I are only renting an apartment and will be looking to move soon. We plan on bedsharing as well.

Yours all look so nice! Wish I had one to decorate.

Have been getting some nasty tension headaches, as well as just tenstion pain in my neck. Pregnancy has been leaving me feeling stiff this past week or so. OH just told me that he has planned a surprise trip to the beach over Thanksgiving! We are also going there for Christmas. What a relief! MW appt tomorrow, thinking I will finally have my GTT test.

Pri- Leg cramps reallllyyyy suck! I'm sorry your getting them. :( I have a potassium deficiency so I used to get them a lot. I used to eat a banana or orange juice, but got sick of both very quickly. lol I was taking potassium supplements, but my prenatal's have plenty in it and so far no issues with that...knock on wood. On the other hand..yay for passing your glucose test! :)

fading- That sounds really fun! I would love to see the letters when they are finished.

Panda- I love the panda theme. I also of course love the green on the walls! (its my favorite color. lol) I'm pretty jealous that you have an IKEA nearby, our closest one is over an hour away. I plan on taking at least one trip out there though at some point.

Duster- That was pretty rude of her to say it loudly. There is a lot of personal information that gets passed on to them so if they need to verify they could have you say it to them quietly or write it down. Oh No! Not snow already?! We have been spoiled with weather lately, I can't even think about snow.

Daisy- We rent an apt., but are looking for a bigger place as well so we can't paint or anything like that. I am basically only putting things up that can be easily taken down and put back up somewhere else. How exciting to go to the beach for the holidays! I hope you have fun. :)

Nothing really for me. Just still battling the worst reflux/heartburn ever. I think i'm being punished for not having morning sickness. The doctor has me taking a zantac and tums if needed. It's helping, but still lingers some days. I have noticed it's worse when she is most active and kicking around hard, which has been a lot the past few days. lol Has anyone else noticed a lot more movement lately?

Oh wow, it seems I dont come over for days!!

Panda: I love your nursery!! sooo cute :)

Fading: Send us the picture once your put the Batman letters!!! Cool idea!

Duster: some people really have ZERO common sense!
The receptionist from my previous doctor really got on my nerves. She was one of the reasons I decided to change doctors when I did! Sorry you had to go through that....

Daisy: we rent an apt too, so we are not painting the walls either. I'm putting those wall decor / stickers that claim to come off easy.
In the beginning baby will sleep with us, but not in our bed. It freaks me out to sleep with the baby there, thinking that hubby or me could end up on top of him LOL
I got a swinger from a friend that told me that her 2 kids slept on that swinger in her room in the first month, so I'm hoping to do the same.
And his nursery is combined with the office, so he is not getting a full room for himself.. at least until I have guests staying over.
How did you appt go?
Nice you are going away for Thanksgiving and Xmas!!!! It might help with your headaches!!!

Jules: my reflux is really bad if I eat too much carbs, otherwise it is very manageable and I am really trying to cut down a little bit the carbs, so that's helping!

AFM: 2 nights with no cramps, yayyyy! I started with cramps after my back surgery and they come and go, so I kind of knew that I could expect that during the pregnancy, since it is a symptom and it is something I went through already. It sucks! And I dont think I slept in a good position last night, so my back is bothering me today :(
Looking forward to a 4 day weekend next week!!!

Jules acid reflux makes me want to throw up! I think we will save for baby decorations when they are a little bit older, there's not really a place to put a ton of baby furniture as our bedroom is small. Maybe some alka seltzer or a club soda to help with the acid reflux? Have noticed baby is way active and movement is more intense.

Pri, sounds like it will be great! There's just no room for much other than a crib; we have colorful tapestries on the wall that will be fun for the baby to look at. Sorry about your cramps! None of that for me, just occasional nerve pain in my hips when sitting for too long. Do you have a body pillow you can lay on? When my hips are bothering me it helps to support myself with it.

AFM-- Just got back from my MW appt. Measuring 26 cm and weight is on track with 1 lb a week since last visit :happydance: Zodi's HB was 150 and they were head down face down.
MW says that the abdominal pain I have been experiencing right near my navel is from the abdominis rectus muscles separating  Not RL pain. Now it is good idea to start toning the abdominal muscles and she gave me a little handout with stretches/exercises on them.
Picked up some RLT and will be sipping on it daily now. Looking forward to spending Thanksgiving at the beach! We will be having a nice salmon dinner for Thurs :~)

So sorry xfading and duster for mixing up names. I read it correctly and then typed it wrong. Xfading: love the batman letters idea!

duster: that is so unprofessional of them to say your address loudly! Agree with Pri that sometimes the staff can make a doc office experience poor even if the docs themselves are great.

Pri: glad you've had a break from cramps, but sorry your back is hurting. Do you do any yoga to help? There are some free prenatal yoga videos on youtube you could try.

DaisyDreamer: beach sounds nice! Have a great Thanksgiving. glad the checkup was good :)

It seems like most of you are sharing room with baby. Are any of you using cosleepers? I was debating whether to start the baby in my room, but nursery is very close to me so I wasn't sure if it's worth getting a cosleeper or something for our room. I'm the same as Pri, I'm worried about putting baby in bed with us and rolling over even though I have lots of cousins and friends who've done it with their kids and it's fine. I'm just paranoid. lol

Pri- Yay for no cramps!!! :) I hope your back is feeling better now too.

Daisy- So happy your appointment went well. Sounds like Zodi is right on track! You will have to let us know how the stretches are.

Panda-Depends on how I feel the first few weeks. Her crib will be next to the bed, but I will still have to get up to get her out. I figured if that turns out to be a pain we can just use the pack and play since I can raise it up and put it right next to the bed. Bed sharing would not work for us at all, my husband has restless leg syndrome and sometimes kicks or tosses around.

So I think my nesting started this weekend. lol I had the sudden urge to clean out our black hole of a closet. I went out and got plastic totes for all of the clothes I wont be wearing for a while and some smaller ones to sort out holiday stuff. It took me 8 hours or so...yes it was that bad since we have no other storage in our apt. I ended up with 3 bags for goodwill, 4 bags of trash, and brought out all of the Christmas stuff to start decorating. It feels so good to get it out of the way, but boy am I tired today. lol

Oh wow, Jules!!! 8 hours of closet cleaning!!!!!!!
Glad you got that out of the way an yayyy for all the bags going to Goodwill!! :happydance:

Daisy:
great all is well and little Zodi is growing strong!!!!
I do have a lovely body pillow that became my best friend, but sometimes I end up on my back, with my head on it, and that's when I have back pain!
But all good now :)

Panda, my plan is to have Ben in our room, sleeping on the swing next to me for at least the 1st month. Then I would leave him on the nursery, but our room is a bit far, so I would be running around the apt during the night, so maybe I stay with him on my bedroom until almost 3 months, when hopefully the feeding every 2 hours ends and we start with maybe 5 or 6 hours! yes, I am very optimistic haha

I bought some pre natal pilates and yoga dvd and I was very good of committing doing them! But I'm getting home so tired and hungry, that it has been a couple of weeks that I don't do!

I do my stretches every morning for my back and leg, but I should be doing the pilates or yoga at night too... shame on me!

I received the baby shower invitations I ordered! It came out soo cute!
Anyone is a little "freaked out" that we have 10 to 13 weeks to go?
I have 11! I'm finding it so hard to believe! And since mine is a scheduled C-Section, I'm soooo afraid he will come earlier and my family will not be here, that's crazy, I know!! I should not think of that.. but easier said then done!
:dohh:
