First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Thanks for the kind words about OH, yes these times will pass I guess the worst part is wondering why we must do this at a time like this? But you know, that's life

ksquared, thanks for stopping by! How are you feeling?

Panda, definitely don't do the sweep if you are not comfortable with the idea. Hopefully you will be able to get in on Tues. Hopefully you will just go into labor on your own!

Jules, FX for you that baby comes!!

Pregnancy is a true test for relationships, especially at the end. Hubby and I have been at it quite a few times over random things. Last night we started then I just walked away in the middle to cool off because it was going nowhere and I know that we are both just wound up. I have to remind myself that he is fighting all sorts of emotions right now about becoming a dad and knowing he has to be super responsible. He just doesn't handle it as well as I do.

Just remember not to let things get too far and walk away if need be. Take a few deep breaths and think before speaking. Men tend to be hot headed and things heighten way too fast so sometimes we have to be the one to break the fight. Things will be wayy different once you guys get used to being parents. If things still are rocky then discuss it together before making a decision. :hugs:

ksquared: so glad to hear from you! Congrats on 12 weeks :) Going in to second trimester! :happy dance:

Thanks Jules, fading, and Daisy for the exercise ball tips!

AFM: Had my appt this morning and doctor said 2cm dilated and 50% effaced but cervix was still angled way back behind baby's head so she said she couldn't do sweep anyway. Fundal height was 39cm up from 37cm last week which was surprising. She said she did feel baby's head: Wondering if that means I missed mucous plug coming out or if she can feel it anyway even with it still intact?

I'm kind of hoping early next week will be my time. I'd be happy to get through the weekend now before labor starts as I have a prenatal massage and yoga so I think it will be good to have that done beforehand to help loosen up and relax.

I'm not sure, panda.
My midwife doesn't do any internal exams until you're either full term and getting a sweep done, or you're already in active labour. So all of that lingo confuses me.

I'm crossing my fingers that baby decides to come this weekend. I'd love a valentine's baby. Plus OH is home all weekend plus Monday (which is a holiday here) so I wouldn't have to worry about pulling him out of work.
I still haven't had many signs though.. I lost quite a bit of plug this morning but I'm sure there's still lots left. And I've been getting a lot more pressure on my cervix that I'm starting to waddle a bit now. But none of that means labour is near which sucks.
I've been trying to live on my birth ball, and warned OH that I'm going to he using him for sex the next little while. 😄

xfading: understand why midwife wouldn't check cervix, my doctor was very blunt about it not really being predictive at all as things can progress very fast or very slow no matter where cervix appears to be. she said it's optional for me, but i was curious. however, i've had bleeding/spotting since she did the check which is annoying :( but i will definitely let her do the sweep next Friday if I haven't gone into labor yet.

i've been trying the sex method, too, hoping that speeds things up. doc said it ups your oxytocin and can help as can nipple tweaking (but ow!). My husband is happy about that, lol!

Hope you get your Valentines day baby!

And Jules hoping for you this weekend, too!

Ladies!!!
This is the 3rd time I try to send u something and this cell phone deletes it all.

Baby Ben was born as planned via CSection on Feb 10, weighing 7.4 lbs and measurig 19 inches.

First night he was a breeze with the exception of all
The in and outs of the nurses.
Second he was having the 2nd night fuzzines and we didnt sleep at all.
We might go home today.
But we are both well and getting used to BF.
Nipples are very sore and he is using me as a pacifier.

I will try to post a pic here after this post

Pri: congratulations! I am sure we are all looking forward to seeing his picture and hope you heal swiftly and well. When I post photos from my phone I click the "go advanced "button and use the "attach" button. I don't know if that helps you at all.

it's interesting that you say Ben is using your nipple as a pacifier because Dorian did that for a long time too. Only within the last couple days and using a nipple shield has he really learned to latch correctly and suck like he's supposed to. He still takes his sweet time nursing. Apparently I have nothing better to do all day than feed him! Lol.

Pri- Congrats! :) Soooo happy to hear that baby Ben is here and everyone is doing well. Can't wait to see pictures when your phone decides to cooperate! lol

Panda- My doctor said she could feel her head a few weeks ago when I was 1cm and I thought the same thing. I am pretty sure they can just feel that the head is down there, but not their actual head? Your appt. sounds exactly like how mine went. lol They asked if I wanted to be checked..optional but I said yes out of curiosity. Mine said that things could happen soon or a week, no way to tell. Fingers crossed that both of us go on our own soon! I can tell you that I have been doing nipple stimulation the past 3 days and it does bring light contractions, though it does get annoying.

fading- I am guessing you will be the next one! :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you as well!

AFM- The only thing going on is still losing plug..how much is up there?! lol I have been having a contraction here and there, but keeps fizzling out. And lots and lots of pressure.

Kind of a long rant- Does anyone have annoying family members or dealt with annoying family members when it comes to visiting in the hospital?

I made it very clear that noone is coming in the room until we feel ready after she is born. My husband gets 3 days and that includes the hospital so I really want him to have some time to bond with her. Both of our families live about 2 hours away so my parents decided they will wait til they can come and spend a few hours once we are home. My in-laws however are a different story. His mom is sending me constant texts about how anxious they are and on constant baby watch. They also want to rush here as soon as I am in labor and wait in the waiting room the whole time. I am not discouraging it as I know its their first grandchild (my parents have 9 already which is why they are laid back) and my husband is their only child, but its driving me nuts! I am nervous they are going to want constant updates and my husband is going to feel like he has to go to the waiting room to update them..its just really annoying. lol

Jules: at my hospital, the nurses were very OK with being the bad guys. They played bouncer and kept everybody out of the room. your first priority should be you, your husband, and your child. If your family wants updates tell them they will have to speak to nursing staff-and that's only if you feel comfortable having the nurses give updates. With HIPAA I'm not even sure they will.

an alternate: you could wait to let them know about the labor or birth until after everything is done and you're settled.

sorry about all the differences in capitalization and punctuation, I'm using voice to text while juggling Dorian as well :)

Pri, congrats! You will get into the swing of things here soon.

Well just had my 37 week appointment. BP is higher than normal but still in the normal range, measuring 37 cm and Zodi's HB was 130.
They (MW and the student) both did a cervical check and said that it is very ripe about 70% effaced and 2 cm dilated.

Considering I have been in early labor for a few days now I am hoping things start to progress... But like Jules and Panda have said already, it doesn't mean much :haha: Just playing the waiting game here.

Pri: Woohoo perfect size nugget!! congratulations and welcome Ben! I'm so excited to see a picture!

Jules: Glad they at least are okay with waiting in the waiting room. Maybe you can tell hubby what duster said and let him send the nurses most of the time and tell him you want him to stay focused with you while you are in labor so he won't keep running out to speak to them or stop to text them. Tell nurses your preferences for after baby is born, too. You'll prob want a good amount of skin on skin time before they come in the room.

Daisy: sounds like we are all starting to have early signs, but it is hard that they can mean hours or weeks. Nothing to do but wait and see. I am excited to see who is next and see everyone's baby pics! Are you feeling any better? Most of my yucky symptoms have subsided. Still uncomfortable, but headaches seem to be gone. Fingers crossed!

AFM: Lost a little bit of plug this morning, but it was with some dried blood so I think maybe it was just loosened up from cervix check. Sorry TMI but having VERY loose stools this afternoon and evening. I don't think I ate anything weird so if it continues to be that way, it might be an early labor sign.

Panda I have been having loose stools for the past few days as well, and I was even having awful night sweats the night before. Feeling a little bit better here
I have been having contractions 10 minutes apart for the last 3 hours. At one point they were 3 min apart but back to ten. No plug or waters though. I hope this turns into something!!!

Thank you, Duster, Jules, Daisy and Panda!! All of you ladies here on this thread are the sweetest. I'm feeling ok. Still get gaggy/nauseous sometimes and a headache here and there, but mostly feel just fine. Belly is really starting to pop out so I think people who don't know will start to notice. Need to start wearing maternity clothes now :). I have my NT scan on Monday!

Jules - Yes I'm excited to have a summer baby. I love summer! My birthday is in September and I loved growing up with birthday pool parties.

Pri!! Congratulations and welcome Ben! So glad you both are doing well.

FX you ladies in the waiting game will have things start happening soon. Sounds like you're all very ready to meet your little ones!

Daisy, panda looks like you'll have a Valentine baby:cloud9:

panda, you are already dialated, great progress:flower: I hope you'll have a smooth vaginal birth.
I was 3cm dialated in the birthing center and in 8 hours the boy was born.

ksquared and dovkav thanks!
I hope not for a Valentine's Day baby, maybe I can get them out of here by midnight tonight! :)
I had some bulky stool and was again feeling very nauseous this morning but no MS thankfully. My appetite has been like zero lately. Did some nipple stimulation and bouncing on my ball because things seem to have stopped from last night after getting a good nights' rest. Having some moderate contractions and cramping
FX!!

I hope so dov!! I'm still nervous that I won't be able to pass baby thru and need a c-section which is scary with my scar tissue issue. Trying to do lots of stretching and relaxing exercises. Had my last prenatal massage yesterday and probably last prenatal yoga this morning. Baby was really pressing down in the pelvis during yoga.

Daisy: I'm with you, hoping for not a Valentine's baby as I didn't want him to have to share a holiday, but not a huge deal. Sounds like symptoms are off and on as mine are, but you are having a lot more contractions than I am. I only have a few BH here and there and very light.

ksquared: have a great scan on Monday! that's a fun one! post pics if you can!

I'm having some (sorry for this description) globby dark brown discharge and at one point a big glob came out in the toilet. This seems like mucous plug but surprised I'm still having this much old blood coming out as it had pretty much stopped yesterday morning after the cervix check on Thurs, but now seems to be back in force. Bloody show descriptions said it would be more light brown or pink and watery so it's a little weird. This is more like a thick period spotting. No red though which is good.

Panda- I didn't know I was having bloody show when I was because I had just had a cervical check 24 hours ago- but mine was bright red and resembled ewcm. Much different than the thick yellow discharge I had throughout the last half of pregnancy.

I don't know why we apologize for the TMI- these are all parts of pregnancy and I know I appreciate being able to share my experiences with you ladies!

Happy 39 weeks, panda.
My boy arrived exactly 40 weeks after my egg retrieval.
I agree with duster. I also had the same ewcm and very little just pink, not brown.
It is your mucous plug and baby is coming very soon
You should see your midwife every other day check the baby's heart and movement.

More mucous plug today but no more thick brown spotting thankfully. A few light BH contractions last night at around every 15-20 min then stopped.

Hope everyone is having a nice Valentines day! Hubby and I have agreement we don't celebrate and usually we stick to it, but this year he bought me "not for Valentines" flowers and made me "not for Valentines" brownies (Thankfully from a box cause he's a terrible cook). So cute. They are totally stuck to the pan but delicious.

My hubby cooked me a steak dinner for Valentine's. And bought me Jones cream soda, chips and a blow pop because I was craving them. 😁
The past two nights we've also had sex and I've been starting to get a few contractions from it. Nothing intense, but the pain radiates from my lower stomach around to my lower back. And I get a sharp pain near my cervix as its happening. I've only had about 3-4 a night so far. But hopefully they keep happening.
