Glasgow mummies-to-be! anyone due in September?

Omg oops i thought u meant august coming. im not usually this thick honest. Lol. crisps sounds good to me im eating some choc m&ms that I was supposed to be saving for baking cookies but what can i say, i'm greedy. peanut butter cookies minus m&ms it is...

mmmm cookies! Not good I like food far too much! :)

Ive had scan at the epu and ive got my 12 week 1 on the 8th of Feb i'm super nervous. U?

I've not heard anything at all. Not sure who to phone or anything. I'm pretty nervous. My GP was really dismissive when I told her I was pregnant and wanted a referral.

I hope everything was OK with your early scan and fingers crossed for the next one. :flower:

I would maube chase them up? I wouldnt worry about the gp being dismissive it seems to be a recurring theme. My GP was a total knob when i went to see him about my bleedinghe basically said to me if u miscarry dnt be surprised my mum was with me and she was so shocked too! I dont think they give a shit.

So far everything is okay and dates were all good. You should chase up the doctor and if your worried you can always try the epu they were really lovely to me and gave me an appt on the same day.

what is it with GPs not really taking you seriously? they make you feel like because you're only in the first trimester you're not really properly pregnant or something!! :D

I'm finding it really hard to get myself to do ANYTHING just now, but I really fancy making peanut butter cookies now too...especially since I was away all of november and december and so missed all the christmas baking :(

did you all plan your pregnancies then? It was a bit of a surprise for us...as I say I was away for two months, so when I got back we got a bit carried away... :) then I went to visit my family in Germany for just 4 days, and my period was supposed to start while I was there, it didn't (obviously). I didn't think much of it at first because travelling had messed up my cycles anyway, but then I thought I better buy a quick test. I took it first thing when I came in the door, we had picked up food on the way too...so when I came out the bathroom I said, "I'm sorry, I know you're eating...but I'm pregnant!" I was in such a shock...I cried and cried...BF was shocked too, but it was clear from the start that we'll just have to deal with it...and when are you ever 100% prepared for a baby, right?
now, 2 weeks after finding out we're both really getting excited about it. I'm sure we'll be just fine. We're having a private scan in 2 weeks and I told BF if we see a heartbeat then, he can tell his parents (we were going to wait until 12 weeks, but I think it'd be good for him to be able to talk to someone about it.) we'll not tell my parents until later because I want to tell them in person and they live in Germany, so I won't see them before about 13-14 weeks.

Um...I was really just going to complain about GPs... :D

Yeah, I saw the GP at 5 weeks and she said remember I could have a miscarriage. Lovely. So perhaps I will phone the surgery and see if I have actually been referred!

September, ours is planned. We were ttc for 6 months. A lovely Christmas pressie!

Where are you getting your private scan?

Mine was planned, I wanted a baby for almost a year but DH wanted to wait so finally got my implant out in September and my period never started, went to India for a month and MIL took to me to a fertility specialist who said my ovaries werent releasing eggs so she gave me clomid and it worked first try found out I was pregnant on the 8th of DEcember. Only a few weeks after we came bqck from India.

I've told my immediate family and work but waiting til 12 weeks to tell everyone else. I seen the hb at my 9 week scan but im still reluctant to tell!

My name is Kay im from Paisley just outside Glasgow. I already have a little girl Jessica, who is 3 in April and we have been ttc#2 since she was born so waited a long time. Im due September 13th and im planning on booking a gender scan for 17 wks to find out flavour. Have my first midwife app in a fortnight and no 12 scan booked yet kx

Aww ure wee one is cute cute cute! I would love a blonde baby but OH is indian so defo not gonna happen. thats a good idea booking a private gender scan im defo gonna find out. are u hoping for a boy or a girl?

Tbh im really not bothered either way, ive waited 3 years for this baby so as long as everythings ok. I just feel esp with having 1 already i would rather know to be organised. Anyone having there babies at rah?

Mine wasn't planned but we are chuffed after we both got over the shock! But as you say are you ever prepared for a baby?!! :)

I've only told mum dad sister and two best friends but OH has told everyone! Thankfully our friends and work mates don't clash. I want to get 12 week scan done so I can show people pics! Can't wait to tell my Gran as I know she will be chuffed to bits and then my mum can tell everyone too as I know she wants too!

I'm worried how step son will take news as it's been just the three of us for 4 years but hoping it will bring us closer as a family :) exciting time!

I got a date for my scan today, it will be on the 28th of February, which according to LMP puts might right on 12 weeks.

Does everyone else have a date for their 12 week scan?

It said in the letter I got that they won't do a NT test, but will instead offer me a blood test for Downs a bit later on in the pregnancy...does anyon eknow if that blood test is as "reliable" as the NT (I know the NT is just an indicator anyway...I've just never heard of the blood test...)

Private test in 1,5 weeks! I'm having it done up in perth, because my sister said the guy is really good. also, it's just £45 and we can make a day of it. :)

hope everyone is alright!!

I don't have a date and I'm further on than you!

I phoned yesterday and they told me that I'm in the system and that I will hear in the next 3 weeks.

I'm freaking out about it! Now you're saying they don't do NT? Crazy!

you're going to the princess royal though, right? I heard that the NT thing can vary from hospital to hospital, so you may get it there. I'm not sure what to think about that tbh, I need to find out of the blood test is as good. :(

I think it's pretty cheeky the way they give out appointments. I mean, mine's fine and I have plenty of time getting time off and all that, but they seem to be cutting it really close with you. They should just phone and give you a couple of options rather than sending out a set appointment...

Hey guys, hows it going? I'm not gettin NT earlier which is worrying but I may pay private. £45 is a bargain for peace of mind. It's a joke how they allocate scans here total lottery.

as far as I know the NT has to be done right around the 12 week mark...my 8 week scan is really just for peace of mind and we decided if we see a heartbeat we'll tell parents and that...which should make it easier explaining why I'm always tired/sick/crying :D

I think a private NT test would be well over £45... I think I may call my German doctor and find out about that blood test...not that I don't trust doctors here, but she's been my doctor for ages and also I know that she won't have to tell me what NHS policy dictates...

Thanks guys!

It seems like a total lottery. Especially if all the hospitals do things their own way.

Horrid that this is such a worry. I've said it before but it seems like unnecessary faffing around, upsetting pregnant women who are already freaking themselves out on their own!

How is everyone doing?

After some really superficial googling i'm not sure i want the blood test for downs, i've read in a couple of places that it has a high rate of false positives.. So there's either leaving it altogether or somehow coming up with the money for a private nt/blood combi. ~£200 i don't have.

I'm also still thinking about going home for just a few days and getting it done there, but that's only an option if i've got time to go between 11-13 weeks, which i haven't looked into yet.

I've been a complete mess for the last week or so. Nauseous all day, can't eat anything much, and i've been crying for no good reason at all! Reassuring in a way, but really annoying at the same time...can't wait for 2nd tri and i hope things will be better then.

Has anyone else had problems sleeping at all? I just can't seem to fall asleep at night, up until 2-3 most nights...i'm not tossing and turning, but i'm just not falling asleep properly. I also wake up what feels like 500 times a night. :/

I hope everyone else is alright and enjoying their pregnancies!!

How is everyone?

Had my private scan today, it was amazing! Bang on 8 weeks, so we didn't see much, but heard a really strong heartbeat of 158bpm. I called my parents and told them, they are really happy for us and it was so reassuring to hear they don't mind us not getting married and the pregnancy being unplanned.

Great day all in all, i'm so happy!

Telling the boyfriends parents tomorrow, i'm a bit nervous...

Xx

Aw that's great news! :)

The wait is sooo hard for me another 2 weeks before scan but hopefully at 14 weeks it'll be a great pic! X

It should be!! Yeah, can't wait to get a proper look at 12 weeks, but it was so good to hear the little heart beat so fast!

Good luck for your scan!
