I've been stupid and just eaten about a quarter of a donnar kebab and now read on google that i shouldn't eat it!
I'm in a panic now have i harmed my baby? Soooo silly!! I dunno why i didn't just check i usually do but didn't think and now i'm worried.

Please help xx

No idea what kind of food that is but many of us have been there... recently did that myself with chicken salad. I'd say don't eat more now that you know. You and the little one are in all likelihood fine. A lot of food guidelines are in place to encourage us to stay on the extra super safe side and we pg ladies probably avoid a lot of things that would be fine. Try not to stresss yourself out.

I'm sure you haven't done any harm! Don't worry! You've only had a small amount and it's not a do not have them, it's just advice!

Really dont worry. I had a few things I didnt realise were bad like parma ham and a hotdog but as soon as i knew I just didnt eat it again. Im sure bubs is 100% fine.

Really doubt it!!! I worried about smoked bacon the other day and thought how silly is this!! besides its a one off thing! I have just googled it for you and i can't find anything official that says you can't and i'm sure if it was dangerous there would be something official about it! ENJOY i wouldn't mind one myself!!

What is wrong with chicken salad? Not heard that before?

OP - I wouldn't worry having just one bad thing. I had 3 mcdonalds milkshakes and only read on here that you shouldn't have them for the same reason you shouldn't have Mr Whippy icecreams. I think everyone slips up xxx

What's in mcdonnalds shakes that's not good to eat? Crap i get one like daily.??? Now IM freaking out

I think its only incase they havent wiped/cleaned the milkshake machine properly.

I think it's the cream in it, though not sure? and thanks for the replies ladies i'm bit more relaxed now xx

Are you concerned about the holding temperature at the facility? Or about the doneness of the meat?

I just had street food for lunch. Gyro. Yumm. They do grill the sliced meat to hot before serving, though. fwiw the only food advice I follow is not eating undercooked meat (which I'm certain the doner is well cooked, no?) and not eating large fish or raw fish and eggs. Oh the brownie batter that has gone uneaten!

According to the Internet, nothing is safe to eat while you're pregnant... Just eat what you like and don't stress yourself... and don't google anything after you've eaten it already.

Google would say not to drink water as well....... What do you think people in other countries... They eat sushi and everything else.... I wouldnt worry..

I always hear people bring up the Japanese eating sushi. But I would get they have much fresher fish than some of the funky joints in the US. I would use discretion and only eat it at a place you trust beyond trust.

I don't think Google would say don't drink water. Maybe it would suggest purified water, which is a good suggestion in life anyhow depending on your water source (mine is heavily chlorinated so I use an RO filter and add minerals back in).

But, yeah, the guidelines are pretty crazy. They are meant to keep you safe from even the worst of food. I suppose if you're getting farm-fresh eggs and off-the-boat fish then brownie batter and sushi are just fine. And, pretty much all cheese in the US is pasteurized, but I've heard from others that have eaten unpasteurized and been fine. Perhaps they are just going by how many people report sick for products? idk. I find the no fresh juice thing to be insane. lol!

lol I think everything in moderation - I still have bloody steaks, I have mcflurrys and mcdonald's ice-cream, I tried some of my OH's donnor kebab the other week, I have eaten brie and I eat bacon, I eat prawn salads, crab sticks and probably a lot of hte other stuff you aren't allowed to eat ... and my boys are fine and at the moment so is my little girl.

My mum got told to eat liver when she was pregnant with me and my brother's - now it's a big NO NO ... we're all fine

I've eaten döner kebab meat while pregnant with my first. Never heard of it being dangerous.. the meat is cooked after all!

Just to add to what other poster said, if the machines aren't cleaned they can lead to listeria as the milkshake isn't frozen. I wouldn't worry though hun, from what I've read, it is extremely rare the machine would harbour it anyway xxx

my midwife actually recommended I have a mcdonalds milkshake to get baby moving when she's being quiet :haha: I think there is far too much paranoia surrounding what you can eat. I know some people choose to be careful but if you listened to everything you'd end up malnourished! I personally think its best to stay of google and use your common sense!

I didnt know kebabs werent allowed? All of the 'rules' change so often its hard to keep up lol. I ate a LOT of kebabs whilst pregnant with my son and he was born fine. I havent eaten any this time round because ive completely gone off them since getting pregnant. I'm sure your baby will be fine :flower:

Same with me, haven't been interested in döner meat since I was around 7 weeks along!

Oh, I drank a ton of McDonalds chocolate shakes too. They practically got me through the first trimester of my first pregnancy. It was so hard to eat then. :(

I've pretty much been eating what I want, in moderation. I had tuna salad for lunch today and tuna is supposed to be one of those fish that you should stay away from because of mercury. I had sushi yesterday (all cooked, though), and I work across the road from a McDonalds - I get milkshakes all the time! Really, with how sick I've been feeling, anything I want to eat is what I'll eat - just to get something into me!
