Hoping April is Our month for good things to happen

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to check in quickly. I still don't have internet connection and am now at my inlaws' house. Still no + OPK. I still have little twinges left and right, here and there. So we're BD'ing every other day to make sure. I don't know if I'm even going to O with all the stress from this week. It has really been too much. I'm stressed and tired and haven't had a good night's sleep in almost a week.
Anyway, I really miss chatting with all of you and hope to be back on a daily basis really soon. At least, starting Monday I'll be back: internet at work :happydance: I hope everyone is OK and let me know if there is a BFP I missed in the meantime!

Jane, a lot of people use the cheap opks from Amazon, but when the line is dark or really close, they use the digital to confirm a positive. If you do this, you can use the cheap ones & a box of expensive digitals can last A WHILE because you may only use 2-3 a month.

If you are not sure when you ovulate, start using opks on CD 10. Twice a day is best...usually mid morning & mid afternoon. But everyone is different. If you are using the cheap ones, adding a 3rd time around 7 or 8 at night may be good too to pin point. I tend to get positives first thing in the morning. Here is what I just bought. But look around, you can find some even better deals. I bought a small amount hoping I won't need them much longer ;) Plus with the fertility specialist, I don't think I will really need the opks...since my O is being manipulated.

And yes...the group we have together now makes us a very knowledgeable source :)

Jane, I actually really love the wondfo opks that floridasian/beaglemom mentioned from amazon. I start mine around CD8 and use them twice a day (6am/2:30pm), when it looks like it is positive I confirm with the clearblue smiley opk. That way it is a little cheaper. You do need to pee in a cup and dip them in and then wait 5 minutes to read them.

Floridasian, I am so sorry you are sick! Strep throat is nasty! Hopefully being this early in your cycle the meds will be out of your system and you will feel better by O time!

Suzy, hoping you get your + opk soon. Hope you were able to get all of your moving done!

Not much new here, had a strange feeling in my lower left abdomen for about an hour this afternoon. Just felt odd, probably nothing ttc related, but it got me hopeful! :)

Thank you everyone for the info on the OPKs, that just saved me a lot of time from doing goggle searches! I have an idea of when I might be ovulating from charting, but this should give me a better idea. Today was tough for me, but the first day of my AF is normally the hardest. Ready to start trying again!

Floridasian, hope you feel better soon!

Jane, sounds like you got plenty of info on the OPKs, and since you're also temping, I bet you're good to go! :) I hope AF leaves you soon and you can just look forward to this cycle.

beaglemom, congrats on getting the meds worked out! great news!

floridasian, I hope you are feeling a bit better... :flower:

Suzy, glad to see you check in! Good that you're BDing every other day! At least you know you wont miss it!

Hi Savvy!

Has anyone heard from FBG lately?

AFM, I woke up to a pos OPK this morning and wanted to throw the thing across the room. I really dont know what it is with my body always being so eager to ovulate early as hell every cycle. Even on Clomid, instead of O'ing five days after the last pill, I'd O four days after the last pill. Now using the Femara days 3-7, here I am already getting a pos OPK. At first I thought, maybe false positive since I just took my last pill on Fri. But the CB Digital supposedly isn't affected by meds. Maybe I'm wrong though. I would normally just BD a ton of times and just see what happens, but this is supposed to be a trigger/IUI cycle. My day 10 u/s is scheduled for tomorrow, and I'm scared to death that I'll O by the time I get there. Its highly likely that if i had tested last night, it would've been pos then too, since I tend to get my surge starting at night sometimes. I just left a message with the on-call nurse just to see what she has to say about it. Does anyone have any insight as to whether these clinics would take this into consideration, or do they ignore these OPKs and just go by u/s only?

Erin, my dr always told me to do the trigger when I got a pos OPK but since you're so early, I don't know. But at least you have the ultrasound tmrw and hopefully that can give you some answers. Just bc you get a pos OPK doesn't always mean you actually O, so maybe it's just one of those times!

Or don't they have injections that can delay ovulation?? It seems like I've heard of them...

Erin, do not freak out. Just back it up with BD. When you go for the u/s, they will know how close you are to O or if you O'd already. Even if the egg already released, they may still try the IUI...or just switching to femara could get you a positive trying naturally without IUI. You & your husband do not seem to actually have any issues...so you could get it done on your own.

I was prescribed a drug to stop me from ovulating. I don't know at what point you can do that. Worse case, this cycle doesn't work out but you will know next cycle you need an u/s earlier. It makes me a little nervous to be taking the drugs & not have an u/s until after. Seems we should have one around CD 7.

I think you are going through the same stresses I was on IUI #1...it's very natural & understandable. Just try not to get all wrapped up in your own head. :)

I realized I start my injections on Tuesday which happens to be my birthday. I have a feeling I may be taking my first shot in the bathroom of whatever restaurant we eat at...lol!

I also got confirmation from the pharmacist that the ovidrel can keep unrefrigerated for 30 days. And my follistim was something like 60 or 90 days. So I guess the benefit is if you buy all of it at once or if you are unsure you will use it, so you refrigerate.

Thanks for talking me down from the ledge, beaglemom. I realize I am getting worked up, and I shouldn't freak out about things I can't control. As frustrating as it is, if I can't change it, then I can't change it, and I need to just chill out. :flower: And you're right, even if I go in tomorrow and they see that I O'd tonight or in the middle of the night, they'd probably still do the IUI. As far as BDing goes, I know we're supposed to leave 48 hrs between BDing and the IUI, so I'm torn on whether we can do it today or not. If we end up getting the IUI tomorrow, then BDing today is out.

allison, thanks for commenting! I thought I recalled your Dr telling you that back when you were doing the trigger shot, and that is actually what made me decide I needed to call them this morning. :)

I did get a call back from the nurse. They recommend not using OPKs until 3 days after taking last pill (which I already knew, but I feel like i have to stay on top of this crap since I O so early). She said its possible that Femara caused a false pos this morning, so they want me to test again in the morning. If it's still pos in the morning, she said most likely it was a true LH surge. If that happens, I am supposed to take the trigger shot in the morning, and DH and I are to go in tomorrow for the IUI. If it's not pos in the morning, she said they'll assume it was a false pos, and I'll just go in for my regular appt, which was the day10 U/S and bloodwork. Since there's a possibility of IUI tomorrow, DH is drinking more water than I've ever seen him drink in my life! LOL

What does drinking water do?

Did they tell you to do the 48 hrs? My paperwork says we would BD same night as the trigger which would be 36 hours.

I just got a call back from the pharmacy on my meds costs...wow! I guess some of it was covered by insurance. So with everything I think it is going to cost me about $1500-$2000 for this IUI. I really hope it is the last one! I feel good about it though...I told my husband that as long as I am not spotting, we are starting BD on CD 6 then go on even days until we have the u/s & get more direction.

Erin, have they said anything to you about doing a beta & how long after the IUI they will do it?

Erin, sending good thoughts that it was just a false positive opk this morning and you will be back on track for your ultrasound tomorrow.

I don't think I am ready to read the price list at the RE. While I don't mind spending the money if that is what it takes to become a mother but I really wish more of this infertility stuff was covered by insurance. I really hope this is the last IUI for you beaglemom!

Not much new here. 7dpo, I am noticing smells are stronger and my chest is still sore, almost like I was bruised on chest all the way across.

Hey ladies!
I wanted to give you all a not so good update. DH and I have been talking A LOT this weekend about our plans for TTC and have decided to slow down a bit. I will be losing my teaching position since it was only a 1 year contract and will have to reapply for it when it becomes available. But there are not guarantees which is stressful! And we are going to have to start paying on my surgery. And since my RE requires we pay in full before we can further our treatment it may be a few months. Hopefully no more than 3 or 4 before we do IUI again. So at this time our plan is for me to take femara/letrozole and probably fertilaid, fertileCM, robitussin, and may continue with the fertilitea. I am also going to have DH continue with his multi-vitamin and get him back on fertileaid and countboost. I am also going to have him take motilityboost...maybe. Not sure about that one yet. If our financial situation changes with me getting a job over the summer then that will help and we may be able to do an ultrasound on CD11 or CD12 to know when to trigger and how many follicles I have. I am just praying about my job situation and our TTC journey. Hope it all works out.
I think our chances are good since I did the surgery. I know that I O on femara so I don't want to stop taking it and I have 3 refills left. I also still have an already filled ovidrel shot in fridge. Might ask the nurse about injection when I get a + opk. Don't know what they will tell me. I also want to get them to prescribe me a prenatal so I can have one from the pharmacy. The Meijer (similar to a Kroger or Target or Walmart) near me will give them to you for free with prescription. As for this cycle I still have not O and it is CD27!

Also, for the ladies using Ovidrel. I saw on www.freedomfertily.com that it is $79.50. Not sure how much you ladies paid for yours but mine was $114. So this one will save you some money!!

I tested again later in the day and it ended up being negative, so I think the nurse may have been right... hoping it was a false pos this morning and that I'll just be going in for my originally scheduled u/s in the morning and sticking with the original treatment plan. I really don't want to feel rushed or wonder if everything fell into place right. So I was relieved to see the OPK get negative. I'm going to test again tonight after a longer hold, and also in the morning, but I have a feeling that it was a false pos. :) :)

beaglemom, my Dr recommended that DH drink more water just so that he can produce more semen. Basically, if DH produces one ml, and his count is 180M per ml, then if he produces two ml, we're getting 360M sperm out of him. I really don't know how many ml any man produces, so I'm just throwing numbers around. But my Dr said that drinking water does increase the volume. As for the 48-hr thing, I guess I should look at my paperwork again.... yikes. I may have that wrong.

Hey ladies don't know if you take Fertilaid but it is on sale, 20% off, at Walgreens- online only. Both men's and women's. Fertili Tea is also on sale. It is 23.19 instead of 28.95. The tea is 11.99 instead of 14.95. Happy shopping:)

oh, ok...not sure my husband can drink any more water than he already does...basically all he drinks

misaacs, I am sorry you will be possibly losing your teaching position and ttc is slowing down a bit. I am sending positive thoughts and prayers that you are able to find a job this summer and renew your teaching contract for the fall. Would you be able to tutor kids over the summer? A few teacher friends of mine do that and make pretty good money and it is flexible.

Erin, did you test again? Fx'd it was negative and that you can get more information at your ultrasound today.

Thinking I am out this month, got a huge temp drop this morning and looking back at my other charts it seems to dip on 8dpo and then rise again and then AF shows...ugh! I was feeling very positive about this month too. Now I am bummed that I will be a week into my cycle when I see the RE, if I would have known I wouldn't have been on vacation this week I could have taken the earlier appointment and been going tomorrow instead of a week later. I know AF hasn't shown up yet but I just feel so defeated and upset, why does it have to be so hard to get pregnant? :(

I know how defeated you are feeling. But just look at this appointment as the light at the end of the tunnel. And I would not count this month out yet. For one thing, you can def get the SA, & your timing could work out to get the HSG. You do that after your period but before you ovulate. Perfect timing for that. And bare minimum if you can't get meds, make sure you express how deeply you feel about being put on progesterone after you ovulate. This next cycle is not a bust yet!

Also, try calling the RE just to see if they have any cancellations & maybe you can get in earlier.

I did test again this morning, and it was negative, so I went in for just my day10 u/s, as originally planned. They checked my follies again, and she said there was one on the left ovary that looked to be the dominant one, at over 20mm. She didn't mention the size of any others. She said I will probably be triggering tonight, and going in on Wed morning for the IUI. The nurse has to call me back later this afternoon because they did more blood tests today, so she is the one who will confirm everything.

So beaglemom, my instruction sheet does say not to BD 48 hours prior to IUI. But did you say your Dr told you that you could BD when you trigger, and that you'd be okay for IUI 36 hours later. If so, I may go by that instead of my instruction sheet. I would really, really like to get in one BD before the IUI.

savvy, i'm so sorry you're feeling that way. :( I do totally understand. But I agree w/ Beaglemom that your next cycle won't be wasted... You won't be able to do the day3 test, and it will be too late for Femara or Clomid, but they can get you guys started on the SA and the HSG, and i promise you, you are going to feel good about things just by even doing those things. You'll feel proactive, and one step closer to a BFP. Also, maybe you could get in earlier if you give them a call. If not though, I still think you're going to feel lots better when you start that testing, and it won't be too late for the Dr to give you Progesterone to lengthen your LP for this next cycle, so you could end up getting prego on your own anyway!

misaacs, so sorry about your job, and having to take a break from TTC. :( I hope you'll stick around to chat. And maybe like savvy said, you could do some tutoring or something, to make some extra money and keep on going! Either way, please stick around if you ever feel like venting or talking. :flower:
