How many months are you and what baby stuff have you got already?

Im 6 months next week and i have a bunch of clothes from newborn to even 12 months some of it, but all varied, and a changing bag and a moses basket.. im moving this weekend so after that i will start to get organised a bit better. im not buying furniture tho as i will be moving again nearer the birth or just after so i am just gona make sure i have what i need forup to 3 months. Then ill get cot etc, been offered one second hand but i need to check it out first.

I am 18 weeks 4 days. I have lots of clothes, bibs, snowsuit, pram and accessories, bath support, moses basket, nappies, wipes, few toiletries, steriliser and bottle warmer.

I have got quite alot so far and my Mum has got us lots too but there is still so much to buy!

I am 17 weeks and have absolutely NOTHING yet...

Mainly waiting to know the gender (20 weeks) and for the Baby Show (in London) in mid-October.

There are some good baby clothes sales on at the moment, though. Since I am 90% sure of the sex of the baby (from a 15.5 week NHS scan - although the sonographer wouldn't confirm or deny), I will pick some up at the end of this week.... If I am wrong, then I will take the clothes back and refund/exchange...

I bought odds and ends from about 14 weeks after the first scan. Larger things have been bought after the 20 week scan (ie. the last 8 weeks). Dont know why but this is how it has worked out - I was probably subconsciously thinking 'dont buy too much just in case' but after 24 weeks and baby was viable I think I felt he was really going to arrive I felt better about starting to prepare.
Now at 28 weeks and everything but the pram is bought as MIL wants to get this and is superstitious so cant get it until baby is born.
I am a worrier, so being terribly organised makes me feel better. It must drive everyone else mad! Hospital bag was packed too this week. In my mind I wanted everything done by 30 weeks to be on the safe side. It is also terribly reassuring for me to know I dont need to worry about anything now that its all done. If baby decided to come early everthing is ready.

Tiger Shark I like to be organised too  I plan to have brought all I need by week 30 and hospital bag is also on my list.

I have bought nothing yet :) Yesterday had a dream that suddenly the baby was here (a tiny little thing) and I had absolutely nothing that the baby would need. I will probably wait until 20 weeks or so to start buying things.

Don't worry about not buying stuff. I bought the pram/carseat 3 in 1 thing at 20 weeks but only because I thought I got a good bargain and its the most expensive thing I'll buy.

I've just hit 24 weeks, I'm doing the rest of the stuff on a budget and buying things from Asda and Ebay because Mothercare and places are so expensive. I'm NOT doing a nursery at all as the baby and all its stuff will be in our room for the first 6 months and I want to see if its a boy or girl when its born.

I have only just bought this week:
Cot and mattress (from ebay)
Baby bouncer
Changing mat
Breast pump
Steriliser with 1 bottle in it (incase the BF doesn't go to plan)
1 set of clothes (£20 - jacket, pants, 3 onesies, hat, mitts)

I have bought a set of 3 nighties for myself for giving birth (size xxxxxxxxxxxxxl lol)

The rest can wait till I go on maternity and have some time for myself, although I'll be the size of a house by then I guess!

Plenty of time yet, its just that other people ask you all the time what you've bought and when you say 'nothing' they come back with 'oh your baby's going to have nothing!' As if I'd let that happen...

Im 24 wks 2moro n have cot, travel system and moses basket n some clothes, got soooo much more stuff to buy n im dreading it, and i need to find a house pronto!! eeek x

Well if the 12 week scan was right and it is a girl then ive got 90% of stuff that i will use from Evie, just need new bottles, sterilizer, toiletries, moses basket (sold Evies:dohh:) and the biggest buy, a double pram/pushchair.

If its a boy then ive got NOTHING AT ALL! :nope:

Im 20 weeks and have everything, all we need is milk powder and shampoo/baby bath/talc and then im done..

Katy thats exactly what I'm thinking!!!

Um, 19wks here and we have the pram/travel system, bouncer, play gym/mat, about 5pks nappies, 10pks wipes, some babygros/vests and a couple of outfits in newborn/0-3/3-6. the johnson baby box of bath stuff. and then I've started on the stuff for me to, breast pads, sanitary towels/pads,
So much still to get but want to wait until the nursery is painted, (hopefully by end of september) and i can start setting things up properly, rather then just shoving them all in the spare wardrobe!! also waiting for the Baby show in Oct!!

Wow! I'm really impressed by what everyone's got so far! Everyone seems really organized and ready. I'm shocked at the number of things that need to be bought, though...I didn't realize it was so many different things. I suppose preparing for a baby is something that can get pretty expensive, huh?

I printed off this list of 'Things to get' from the Internet as well - it's really helpful.

Preparing for your baby

Here are some tips to help prepare for the arrival of your new baby.
Be sure to childproof the house, encourage everyone who will be around the baby to stop smoking, and choose a doctor for your new baby.

Clothing

These are some of the newborn clothing and linen items that your baby will need. Remember that term babies quickly grow out of newborn size clothing and you should consider buying three to six month old sizes and allowing your baby to grow into them. Always purchase flame ******ant clothing and follow washing instructions. You will need:

5-7 undershirts or 'onesies'
3-4 stretch suits with feet
3-8 night gowns (with drawstring bottoms)
1-2 sweaters
1-2 hats
1-2 sets of baby washcloths and towels (hooded)
3-4 dozen newborn diapers (plus 3-4 waterproof pants and diaper pins if using cloth diapers)
4-6 receiving blankets
2-3 pairs of booties or socks (you won't need shoes until he is walking well)
2 washable bibs
4-6 cotton diapers to use as burp rags
3-4 fitted sheets
2 quilted mattress pads
2-6 waterproof pads
2 crib blankets or comforters
1-2 blankets for the carriage or stroller

Feeding Supplies

Feeding items you may need include:
12 4-8oz nursing bottles if formula feeding. Pyrex and plastic bottles are more durable than glass, but glass bottles are easier to clean.
12 nipples if formula feeding.
1 set of bottle brush/nipple brushes
Breast pump if breast feeding (manual, electrical or batter operated)

Other supplies

Other items you may need include:

a pacifier if you choose to use one (choose a one-piece, silicone model with a soft nipple that is dishwasher safe and has a shield that is at least 1 1/2 inches wide).
1 infant car seat or convertible infant/toddler seat. Be sure to follow directions when placing your baby in the car seat.
1 infant carrier
1 nasal suction bulb
cool mist humidifier (optional)
rectal thermometer (glass or digital)
1 stroller, carriage or combination stroller/carriage
1 front pack or back pack to carry your baby until he is five to six months old.
1 diaper bag
1 calibrated spoon , medicine dropper or oral syringe for giving medicine
nursery monitor or intercom (usually unnecessary)

Furniture

Be sure to try and buy furniture that is flame resistant or flame ******ant. Furniture that you may need includes:
1 bassinet or cradle (or you may move directly to a crib)
1 crib, mattress and bumper set.
2 sets of bedding for the crib
1 changing table
1 diaper pail
1 washtub
1 high chair with safety strap (used for feeding once your child is able to sit without support)
stationary baby walker or play center (optional)
1 playpen (optional)
1 rocking chair (optional)
an automatic stand-alone swing (to be used once your child is able to sit up on his own)

Safety supplies

These items are necessary to child proof your house:
plastic covers for electric outlets
safety latches for cabinets
plastic corner guards for furniture edges
gates for stairs and doors and guards for windows if you are above the first floor.
nonskid backing for rugs

Supplies to avoid

You will not need these supplies that either have the potential to be dangerous and are just plain unnecessary:

mobile baby walker (can be very dangerous and do not help your child learn to walk).
infant feeders (you won't need to start solid foods until your baby is able to eat from a spoon)
swings that hang from door frames

I'm 14 weeks and I've bought nothing. I don't want to buy anything until after my 20 week scan!
