is/was your LO a really bad sleeper? support and advise thread!

Hope everyone gets lots of sleep tonight. So far so good but that's not to unusual, I really should go to bed when she does then I could get a few hours solid. wake ups usually start anytime from now really, so don't know what changes after the first block of sleep!

Lo had 2 long naps today both 1 1/2 hours which is just unheard of! So will be interesting to see if this helps sleep or if it'll be worse than normal if that's possible lol

I'm praying for a good night here as I'm soooo tired. The last few nights have been back to waking every 1hr or so

:flower:

Hey Clairey! Didn't realise you had sleep issues with the wee lady! I thought I was the only one struggling when all my friends babies are doing at least 10-12 hour stretches... never thought I would get Lydia to 8 months and still being hopeful of a sleep through. I've thought I'm going crazy at times with the sleep deprivation but still standing..

Sleepy dust and sweet dreams to everyone elses babies and hope they get a good nights sleep tonight :hugs:

OMG Storm hello:hi: I was thinking of you earlier today and wondering if you still come on BnB? and here you are!!:happydance:
I'm sorry you are in the same boat with regard to sleep or lack of, but it is sooo nice to know we are not alone isn't it?!
I'm loving your avatar with little Lydia, she is scrummy!
Like you, it's so unpredictable with the whole sleep thing from one night to the next and I too never thought I would be here at nearly 8 months still struggling with sleepless nights. I'm still breastfeeding, but I don't think it has anything to do with this anyway. You are ff,am I right?
I hope all is good with you and time is healing your heart a little more each day.:hugs::hugs:

And like clockwork, she's awake :/ I just wish I could understand it! Lol

LO went to sleep with no problem at 7pm (as per usual) but we've had 2 wake ups already (nothing out of the ordinary though)
I think I'm going to go to bed soon to try and get some more sleep:wacko:
Just to add, she started crawling today, not much crawling, but def crawling. Lord knows what this will mean to her sleep??!!!
Sleepy dust to all!
:hugs::hugs:

Hello ladies :hi:

I've been slightly AWOL as we were having better sleep...not perfect but much better.

UNTIL...he got a tummy bug (at least I'm assuming it is. Thought it was to do with teething but there are no teeth and it's been going on too long now I think). So the sleeping has all gone a bit rubbish again now. Last night he poo'd FIVE times (count 'em) between midnight and 6 am, poor baby, so obviously any sleep training ideas have been thrown out of the window at present.

Luckily (kind of...ykwim :winkwink:) OH has a broken wrist so is off work so at least I have company and moral support although he can't change any nappies which is a terrible shame as there have been some real humdingers.

He's asleep now but probably not for long as he's like a continuous poo machine atm.

Anyway, I hope you are all in for good nights :flower:

I'd like to think so, but knowing her she will be sooo eager to get going again that she will be awake at silly o'clock!

Thanks Kosh :flower:

I hope it settles down soon...his little bum is red raw even though I'm changing him as regularly as humanly possible.

This has all coincided with him starting to crawl and pulling up to cruise around the furniture funnily enough. I haven't really been able to tell what effect it has had yet because of all the pooing :winkwink:

Lisa - hope LO is better soon :flower:

We're having an awesome night.

It took a bit of 'cluster feeding' to get her to sleep but she was in bed by 10pm. It's almost midnight and she's stirred a few times but manages to settle herself back to sleep :happydance:

She properly walked today so maybe that's it. Or it could be the new mummy tea I've been drinking which is supposed to help increase milk supply and reduce babies gassiness. Hopefully we're in for a good night. Usually if she starts well she continues well. FXd

Night night and sleepy dust to all xxx

Ooh yeah I'd like to know that too.... I'm starting to feel like I've had enough breastfeeding, I'd really just like my body back now and every feed is starting to become a battle I'm not sure if I've just not enough milk or lo is just not interested :( Only problem is she's never taken to a bottle and will only take a small amount from a sippy cup, anyone have any advice?

We've had a couple of wake ups so far but she's managed to put herself back to sleep, I'm always a bit reluctant to let her try to get back to for too long as that's when we have the 2 hour awake time!

Lisa - hope your lo feels better soon, it's horrible when they're ill :(

Well done the crawlers and walkers!

Mrshedgehog - yay for a good night!

Lisa - sorry to hear LO is poorly, hopefully his poor little bottom has calmed down now! We've had something similar since yesterday, LO wasn't himself at all and managed to throw up an entire feed into my bra and lap while we were out yesterday afternoon. I really need to learn to keep a change of clothes in the car as I was not good to be around after that! Woke up this morning to find he'd had a bottom explosion

We've had rubbish nights recently, although strangely last night was better with only waking every 3 hours, which surprised me given that he wasn't feeling well and normally that means extra wake ups. Hoping he's pver the worst of it now, he's taking the boob again which he wasn't yesterday so hopefully that's a good sign. I really hate it when he's not well

Angeluk - I think even waking every 3 hours, although 'good' sleeping for most of us on this thread, still means you get to stay :winkwink: Besides, it's good to hear stories of better sleeps - got to keep the hope alive!

xx

morning everybody!
we had a good (for our standards that is!) night last night. he woke 3 (or 4?) times bur went back to sleep really easy  he's tummy (ie gas ) wassoo much better and i think it really makes a difference. we're still on a strict diet, so we'll see.

really happy atm as we just took LO to the swimming pool for the fisrt time!
:happydance:

Yay kosh that is great! I am so pleased for you! :D Any chance of piccies from the pool? xxx

After a great start our night turned out to be pretty mediocre. After an initial 4 hour stretch we had wakings pretty much every 1.5-2 hours for the rest of the night. I think that she was cold but she kept kicking her covers off. It's still too hot here for a sleeping bag. LO sleeps just in a vest as when we go to bed it's still quite warm. By the middle of the night though it's getting cooler so I pull a light blanket over her. She keeps kicking it off though and then I think she wakes up because she's cold. I think I'll try dressing her more and leave the blanket off although then she'll be too hot when she first goes to bed.

The brand of tea I'm drinking is called 'Arbe'. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get it in the UK or US though. It's basically just fennel, aniseed and verbena. Not sure if it's doing anything but since I've been drinking it so far we haven't had any terrible nights of waking every half an hour.

Not sure how today and tonight is going to go - I was just putting LO down for a nap when MIL walked in (we live in the same building and she just walks in whenever she feels like it). LO got woken up and then wouldn't go back to sleep. I've had words with MIL about this before but she just says 'she'll sleep when she wants to' :dohh: If only!

Kosh, I've been meaning to say something about the dairy free thing but keep forgetting. When LO was a newborn she came out in a really bad spotty rash all over. She also had pretty bad bottom wind and although she slept well in those days she would fidget about a lot in her sleep and then finally relax when she farted. I thought it could have been a dairy intolerance so I cut dairy out of my diet. It definitely helped at the time. I'm back eating dairy now and slowly introducing it to LO. She seems to be ok with it. Her bad sleeping habits started when we were dairy free so unfortunately for us I don't think that was the solution but it could be for you. I do sometimes think that it is wind that is causing LO to wake, maybe it's not just dairy that gives her wind, maybe she's just a windy baby. Takes after her daddy!! He's a trumpet bum too!
