is/was your LO a really bad sleeper? support and advise thread!

Im here! Haven't been on much, but also didn't realise the thread had moved. Why has it moved?
Lily still sleeping much the same, but not fighting so much, so that's good.

Will catch up properly later. Xx

Omg im in complete shock!!!! Alex slept 7pm right through to 6.15am!!!!! I gave him a bottle and put him back in the cot, where he promptly when straight back to sleep until 9, when OH got up with him. I then fell asleep until 11am!!! :happydance:

I woke just before him at 6.15 and probably woke him checking on him cos I'd had that horrible heart in mouth moment when I woke and was like oh god why hasn't he woken?!?!

I still can't get off to sleep though?? just can't switch my mind off and lay here again til 1am

:hi: ellebelle! Good to hear from you but not so good to hear that your babies aren't sleeping well still. I know exactly what you mean about the nipples and feeling annoyed. My night was very much like that last night...so frustrating :hugs:

Sorry to hear there are more bad nights and setbacks for people :hugs:

Have these babies not cottoned on to the fact that we want a woohoo thread instead?!

:happydance: to a possible meet up!! I'm very happy to go for a central location so that as many people as possible can make it. Middle to end-ish of October is good for me :flower:

Kosh, I'll be up near Newcastle around xmas or new year time if you're around and fancy meeting for a coffee? OH is obsessed with the Crown Posada in town so wouldn't take much persuading for him to meet a friend there for a couple of beers while I disappear for :coffee:

There seem to be a lot of 42 week babies on this thread - I wonder if that's just a coincidence or not?!

We had another rubbish night last night. Yesterday, naps were excellent - an hour in the morning and TWO HOURS for the second one! Bedtime was also really good and I was soooo hopeful that would add up to a good night. Nope, wrong again. There is zero pattern to the nights and totally unpredictable. WHY child will you not sleep???

LO was born at 41+1. You would think having late babies would mean they were lazy and liked their sleep!!! :haha:

Wow Gemma, that's amazing!! Hope it continues for you!! :flower:

All caught up now.

Hugs to those having rough times :hugs: it really can be poo sometimes. I was getting quite down about it all last week, feeling as though I could no longer cope, I get like that when things get bad. :hugs:

A meet up sounds great, not sure I'd be able to make it though as I'm in Norfolk, so London is a bit far for us, plus my hubby has got to have a small op at the beginning of the month. I'll have a word with him though, it would be great to meet, in real life, people who actually get it.

Lily is currently fighting a nap bug time, I've been trying for neat an hour now........:growlmad:

Not true for us. Alex was born at 38+2 after I was induced for gestational diabetes and a 33 hour labour

He was in NICU for 2 days and SCBU for 2 days so I had always wondered if head a bad sleeper because of his traumatic birth and traumatic few days after being born as he was poorly.
TheNICU nurses kept calling me on my ward as he wouldnt settle them, I ly me and OH :haha:
They quickly moved us to SCBU so I could be with him rather than being up and down in the lift as my body swelled like a balloon as I was to active :nope:

definitely! (my DH wants to go home to see his mum for xmas but I really doubt it will happen)
btw - I love the crown posada too!

remember my original questions re.pregnancy/birth? that was exactly what I was thinking...

my mum is convinced that my LO's poor sleep is some type of mild PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) during birth....

Grrrr. Bad night again. LO (his name is George btw - don't know why I never use it) was awake at 10pm, 10.50pm, 12.30am, 2am-2.45am, 4-6am, then up at 7.30am. I am a combination of :growlmad::dohh::nope::sleep::cry:

I'm limiting his naps today. He definitely does not follow the sleep begets sleep rule, so maybe he's the opposite. Worth a shot. Otherwise it's CC round 2 for us unfortunately.

Flippity - I've recently moved to Bexley from Blackheath. I don't really know anything about the area (mainly we moved for work) but it seems pretty nice so far....Bexley Village is friendly, lots of families it seems. Plus I'm now only 10mins drive from Bluewater which is my spiritual home :haha:

I agree that restaurant/cafe probably best (they serve wine right? :winkwink:). If all our babies have overtired meltdowns together at least there'll be too many of us for other patrons to give us the evil eye effectively.

Ellebelle - :hugs: I can't imagine how hard it is with twins (as I've said before to Angel, you should get some sort of automatic medal at the birth).

Kosh - there was a thread the other day with someone asking how to make their 3month old sleep longer. They currently sleep from 11pm-6am straight through. My head exploded. I thought of you :winkwink:

I wish there was some way that we could ALL meet up...I know that georgraphy is against us though (that and babies plus long journeys plus no sleep isn't exactly tempting).

Firefly - oh if only there was a pattern. I'd write a book and become a millionaire if I could crack it.

Gemma - :happydance::happydance: That's GREAT. I'm INSANELY jealous though (in a good way :winkwink:) Please let us in on your secret so we can start our WooHoo thread asap :haha:

Chocolala -hope you're feeling a bit more positive this week, even if the sleeping is still not so great. I can totally understand the getting down about it...you'd think I'd be used to it by now but it still really gets to me sometimes. I'm so glad all the ladies on this thread are here to vent to/cheer me up.

Claireyb, Mrs Hedgehog - hope all is good today.

George was born at 38 weeks exactly (thank god as he was massive even though he was a week early). I was convinced I'd go 2 weeks overdue though...does that count?! :winkwink:

Hi Ladies, I hope you all had okay days and your evenings are going to plan also :winkwink:
So far so good today and tonight, but it's still early days!!
I'm in the middle of trying to get a wedding cake completed for the weekend...it's soooo hard to fit it in around Lucy though
I also had confirmation form work today that they have recieved and accepted my resignation letter - As of Oct 24th I will be a fully certified SAHM!!!:happydance: I really don't know who my stress levels would be if I knew I was having to return to work,so I feel for any ladies that are returning to work and dreading it.

Oooh and Lucy has her 1st little tooth just starting to come through!!

Sleepy dust:hugs:

Ah Claire was Lucy born on 15th jan? Alex was born on 17th!!
Ah your soo lucky - I am absolutely dreading going back to work but I've no choice as OH is out of work after being made redundant. He's had no luck getting another project management job so we've got no choice but for me to go back to work and him be a SAHD as our money's run out :-(
Dreading leaving Alex, working all day and worried how OH will cope. Plus I know he will not do any dinner or housework, so after being out over 12 hours a day, meaning I'll only see Alex on weekends, I know I'm gonna be doing all the cooking and housework, just to add insult to injury :-(

Yey for her lil tooth!!! Alex has been teething since 8 weeks but still not got one through. Don't think it will be long, he's really started gnawing on his thumb on the left side as opposed to sucking it lol

Has anyone got any ideas for locations for our London meet? Had a quick look and this is what I've come up with so far....

https://www.pizzaexpress.com
Langham place, London (near regents st/Oxford circus tube & regents park tube)
OR Covent garden

https://www.funkymonkeycafe.co.uk/

Pizza hut

https://www.allinnone.org.uk/
(clapham)

Thought the Leicester sq, covent garden, Piccadilly circus would be easiest for us all to get to but if anyone's got any good ideas then let us know :)

Gemma :happydance: the sleep! Fingers crossed for a repeat performance tonight!

Clairey, woohoo for giving up work. I have to have a conversation with work on Thursday about going back (not going to) and am praying that they want to make me redundant. I suspect I won't be that lucky, but either way I will also be a SAHM as of the end of October :happydance:

Also, how in the name of arse are you managing to make a wedding cake?! Seriously impressed as I feel like I barely get time to make toast these days! :haha:
Can we see pics on completion please?!

Lisa, hoping very much that tonight is better for you than last night. How big was George when he was born? I'm intrigued by the massive comment :flower:

MrsHedgehog - YES! If all these late babies were that lazy at getting out then why are they not lazy and love their sleep now?! Dammit!

Kosh, I will let you know when we have a plan for heading up north so we can see if a meet up is possible. Even if you end up being away when we're up this time we'll be heading up again fairly regularly to see OHs parents so we should be able to sort something out!

Today has been pretty good for naps and bedtime was really easy which is good as OH is either out or working late most nights for the next 3 weeks so I need as many good bedtimes as possible. As there is no predictability at all to how the nights will go I won't be holding out too much hope for tonight to avoid disappointment. I was so convinced that last night would be good so don't want to make that mistake again.

This morning OH was lucky that I was too tired to muster the energy to throttle him :haha: He generally sleeps through most of the wakeups and has a really bad habit of waking up in the morning and saying 'that was a good night then?!'. Um, yes, for you. I on the other hand now want to slap you for being able to sleep 8 hours uninterrupted while I was up every 1.5 hours. Just look at my red, barely able to focus eyes before you utter that foolishness! He did actually apologise later on and promised that from now on he would just ask how the night was rather than enrage me!

:hugs: When do you have to go back? Any chance you'll be able to get OH to do the housework or some of the cooking so it doesn't all fall to you?

I would have been in the same situation if I went back - out the house over 12 hours a day and so only seeing LO at weekends. I had a knot in my stomach at the thought so I can imagine how you feel  It made no sense for me to go back as after travel and childcare I would have been working for nothing, but I know how lucky I am that we can make it work if I stay at home. Maybe something will come up for your OH soon and then you'll be able to rethink the work arrangements. I'll stay hopeful for you :hugs:

Hi Gemma, yes Lucy was born on the 15th Jan. I was convinced she would arrive on my birthday (5th Jan),as her due date was the 2nd Jan, but she decided to be fashionably late lol :winkwink:
I know I am lucky not to have the pressure of going back to work and I know how hard it must be for you to be thinking of having to leave your lo all day. Who did your OH work for? has he thought about going freelance?

Lucy's tooth has only just been visable today so your Alex could be soon too.:winkwink:

:hugs:

His last job was for a 3rd party company doing something for the European space agency - pretty high profile but I never paid attention actually to what lol!
We didn't think it would be do hard to find work so as we had savings, he took it easy then he stayed off to help me when I was pregnant as I was poorly with gd and now to spend time with Alex but unfortunately he's had no luck finding a job
I think he needs to get his cv looked at

Theoretically he has a much higher earning potential, but I have no choice but to go back to work as we are not elligable to claim benefits as we had our savings (mortgage deposit - no zero chance of ever owning our own home :nope:) and we still can't claim now it's gone as he's been out of work so long plus various other reasons.

He's still looking and as soon as he gets a job I can quit mine to look after Alex as its not worth paying a childminder.
We also want another baby soon and my employers have just increased maternity pay from 6 weeks to 18 so that's one consolation I guess

Yay, another SAHM:happydance: I too am like you in that it would have been working for working sake really as most of it would have gone on childcare/travel etc and the chunk it would have taken out of my sanity was just not worth it!!

This made me laugh so much.....love the "in the name of arse" comment!!
In one word I "juggle"
I have to time things so that as soon as she gone for a nap I can crack on. then the rest is done for the time she goes to bed at night. I will post a picture when I have done it.

I hope you have a good night and that you don't have the urge to slap your OH in the morning.......unless he deserves it of course! lol

Not sure really. He would now - we hadnt even left the hospital before he asked when we could have another!! The biggest thing for me that's putting me off is our families. They weren't happy when I got pregnant (accidentally!) with Alex as Phil wasn't working - but to be honest I'm partly thinking 'f*** off!' as we are not claiming benefits and are supporting ourselves. Yes money's tight but now we've got all the baby stuff we don't need to buy much more?
I don't want there to be a massive gap. OH. 40th is nov 2013 and I've got big plans, so I don't want to be pregnant then lol
So I've either hot to hurry up or wait another 14 months?

Theoretically I could get pregnant now and I'd only have to go back to work for a matter of weeks before going off again :haha:
