is/was your LO a really bad sleeper? support and advise thread!

His last job was for a 3rd party company doing something for the European space agency - pretty high profile but I never paid attention actually to what lol!
We didn't think it would be do hard to find work so as we had savings, he took it easy then he stayed off to help me when I was pregnant as I was poorly with gd and now to spend time with Alex but unfortunately he's had no luck finding a job
I think he needs to get his cv looked at

Theoretically he has a much higher earning potential, but I have no choice but to go back to work as we are not elligable to claim benefits as we had our savings (mortgage deposit - no zero chance of ever owning our own home :nope:) and we still can't claim now it's gone as he's been out of work so long plus various other reasons.

He's still looking and as soon as he gets a job I can quit mine to look after Alex as its not worth paying a childminder.
We also want another baby soon and my employers have just increased maternity pay from 6 weeks to 18 so that's one consolation I guess

Oh I hope he can find a job soon Gemma and you can start saving again soon for a deposit.
When do you think you want to TTC no2?:baby: how exciting!!!:happydance:

Not sure really. He would now - we hadnt even left the hospital before he asked when we could have another!! The biggest thing for me that's putting me off is our families. They weren't happy when I got pregnant (accidentally!) with Alex as Phil wasn't working - but to be honest I'm partly thinking 'f*** off!' as we are not claiming benefits and are supporting ourselves. Yes money's tight but now we've got all the baby stuff we don't need to buy much more?
I don't want there to be a massive gap. OH. 40th is nov 2013 and I've got big plans, so I don't want to be pregnant then lol
So I've either hot to hurry up or wait another 14 months?

Theoretically I could get pregnant now and I'd only have to go back to work for a matter of weeks before going off again :haha:

^^ you know it makes sense :winkwink::haha:

If I got pregnant now I could go off in April or may lol!!! I'd then be due June/July and LO would be 5 months by the time of my OH's 40th but I'd have2 under 2 lol!!!
Ooh so tempting. Should sit down and talk to OH. He keeps chatting to Alex about having a brother or sister lol

 evening all

It was back to work for me today  All this talk of being SAHMs is making me jealous! I'd love to be a SAHM but DH won't let me :growlmad: We do need the money I suppose so we can move out of in-laws house but I'd really rather be at home. It went ok today though and I'm only in 2 days a week so I shouldn't really complain. What jobs do you all do? I teach English to little kiddies which is quite fun when they are not being little brats!

LO is a bit off schedule today since I was at work and she was with MIL. She wouldn't go to sleep until 11pm even though she hadn't slept since 3pm. She finally went to sleep cuddling a rubber bouncy ball! :dohh:

Hope you all have good sleep nights x x

Remember we were talking about some people just do not comprehend the extent of the sleep deprivation for us and our LO's? Now...proof! The comment about how they would just sleep more in the day just bought it home.

Hah! Just had to read that entire thread, it was interesting.
People who have good sleepers TRULY CANNOT COMPREHEND!

It's 4:53am here. Been up since 4. Fed Dom and bam he was suddenly wide awake. Checked and of course he was leaking. Changed him but now no way to get him sleepy again. His chatter woke Seb. So I thought I might as well change Seb too as he ALWAYS leaks towards morning. He hadn't yet. Then I fed him but unusually he didn't drop off again. Might be cause Dom in the next bed is chattering to himself. I then had to change Dom again as he had done a poo which he usually doesn't in the night but he probably thought, might as well now that I am up.
I am hoping they will drop off if I leave them to it. OH has told me they did the night before. But really, I know they will be up in an hour again anyway maybe if I am lucky, in two. :/ And I am sitting here in the dark kitchen cause I don't want to wake OH with their chatter which I would by going to bed and turning the monitor back on. :(

Aww Angel!
I'm still up... waiting to go to bed because the twins keep waking up. I rocked Milena for an hour and she kept waking up every time I lowered her back into her crib, then she let out a wail that woke up Hannah and I was so frustrated I had to leave the room. They cried but drifted back to sleep... for the moment.
It's already 12:30am here! I'm afraid to go to bed because EVERY NIGHT without fail one wakes up just as I'm falling asleep.

Poor Ellebelle, I can't imagine when you ever get to sleep, you poor thing!
I went back to bed at ca 5:10 as the boys had dropped by then. I had to help a lil by repositioning Dom and giving him his muslin. I know that is dangerous but it seems to help him as much as a dummy so... Dom just woke up now and I rocked him a lil but he seemed wide awake. So I put him in his cot and told I need coffee first. So while I have that I can read a few posts here. It is very quiet over there. Maybe he has fallen back asleep? One lives in hope! But no, even if he did, Sebastian will be awake soon no doubt cause it is nearly time for them to start the day.
I hope my other fellow mummies had a better night. xxx

Edit: They have both fallen back asleep and I am sitting here with their milk all ready. But I bet you anything that if I went back to bed, one would wake up. Sigh. Ah well, this is what coffee was invented for :)

haven't read all the posts yet, i need to vent first
worse night in ages, we'd been doing so well...
went to bed 7:30pm and woke up 4 timesuntil 11when I went to bed, then hourly wakes till 4am,when he stayed awake till 6am. he then slept for 1 hr.
i'm knackered :sleep::wacko::cry:

kosh :hugs: That sounds like a nightmare. Not even one good stretch for you!

Perversly my boys are only now waking again so I could have had another hour! lol

Sorry for the bad night ladies :hugs:

We didn't have the best nigh either. She went to sleep ok, just a small fight, but she woke every 30 mins to an hour, there may have been a 90 mins in there somewhere but I'm not sure. It was rough, there was swearing from me and Lily was very lucky to not have ended up in the garden :haha:

So today is her 1st birthday, but she's exhausted and is now fighting her nap :growlmad: we have plans for today, but not sure how it's going to turn out as she's so tired :dohh:

I'm hoping (dreaming!) that now she is a big girl she's suddenly going to start sleeping 3+ hours a night and no longer be worse than when she was a newborn :haha:

:coffee:

Congratulations Lily on your one year birthday :D

Happy first birthday Lily!!!!

Sorry about your bad nights ladies. Must be something in the air as after the promising sttn Monday, Alex was a demon last night. Nowhere near as bad as your nights ladies but not good at all, and really dashed my hopes after Monday night

He went to bed at 7 and stirred a few times but settled himself. He woke at 12, just as i was dropping off! He then woke at 2 and stayed awake until 6 :dohh:. He then woke at 8.30 but I left him talking and playing in his cot and OH got up with him at 9.
When I got up at 11 he was still in his pj's, and OH hadn't fed or changed his nappy  to say I was angry was an understatement but apparantly I have no grounds to be angry after staying in bed until 11 :growlmad:
OH sleeps with earplugs all night every and wakes up bright and breezy unable to comprehend why I'm tired :dohh:

Happy birthday Lily! Hope the birthday plans go well.

Mrs H - how are you finding being back at work? I'm going back 3 days a week but I'm really dreading it. No way I could be a SAHM unfortunately.

Kosh - :hugs:

Angel, Ellebelle -how were the rest of your nights/mornings?

Gemma - I'd do the same in your position I think (although trying to imagine having another baby right now blows my mind tbh :haha:)

Flippity - off to read that thread, although I bet I could predict right now who says what and how it goes....it's usually the same old, same old. I should award myself cake if I'm right :winkwink:

We had an excellent night which I was not expecting AT ALL (and I feel bad for writing it seeing as most of you had awful nights). He only woke ONCE at 1am for some water and a nappy change, then slept again until 8am  I don't know whether it was because I capped his naps yesterday or what, but I'm trying the same today so we'll see...I can't get my head around the fact that he can be truly awful one night and a complete angel the next :dohh:

Firefly - I tried to quote you in the above post but BnB seems to hate me today

Anyway, George was 8lb3oz at birth which is in no way huge, but I'm tiny (5 ft tall, small frame, small hips) so was expecting a 6-pounder. I fully blame OH. I saw some baby pics of him and good lord he was a porker :winkwink:

How was your night? I also had to have stern word with my OH as he kept waking when LO would stir at, say, 6am and saying 'wow, that's the first time he's woken all night!' and i'd have to stop myself from nutting him. No, it's the first time YOU'VE woken and heard him you wally, I'VE been up a hundred times. Needless to say, he only said it the once :haha:

Flippity - I read the thread.

I'm currently eating cake. :winkwink:

ETA - my particular favourite was when someone said "but if they don't sleep at night surely they just nap longer in the day?" WRONG! People in general just DO NOT GET IT.

yes, that was hilarious!

ETA--
I'm drafting a post for that thread :winkwink:

happy birthday lily!!! :cake:

:hugs: to those that had bad nights and  for the good ones!

so after reading this and firefly's comment, I have a question ladies - apart from Angel and Mr. AngelUK :winkwink: how many of you really share duties or night duties with your OHs? And do you think that has any impact on the way your LOs sleep/behave at night?
