living with kids with allergies group

Were good, Alex is figuring out hes 2 and acting like it :dohh:

Heading out to playgroup soon, its a bit weird as we havent been for about 6 weeks because theres always been something on!

and some allergies you don't get any reaction until the 2nd time you try

we are good thanks, tried Little Man with weetabix again this morning and so far so good, he loved them and wolfed down a half of one!

how are you and the handsome Alex?

Good to know! Thanks! I will try her again tomorrow to make sure. She really enjoyed it so I'll be really happy if she can have it! :happydance:

And I'll try egg next! We tried it once but she was on steroids at the time so not sure if a reaction would have shown? :dohh: And is she absolutely loved it! Just like her mum :haha:

We went to pick up connors prescription from diatician earlier and took it to the chemist but they havent dont keep it in stock so got to wait until thursday for it. Connors back at the childrens hospital thursday to see the consultant to see how hes been doing on wheat free.

How is everyone? Can i be nosey and ask how often you all see a diatician and how often youve been instructed to get your LO's weighed?

Weve seen the dietitian twice with no more follow ups, and no insructions with weighing though he gets done every 3 months at the consultants clinic anyways.

Didn't have a good day today. Katerina's tummy was sooo bloated since yesterday. Last night I thought I was overreacting but hubby confirmed today that its super bloated. She has terrible gas and her tummy is rock hard :nope:

We were also told that her tests will be sometime in May so a long wait. But we are seeing the doctor next week to discuss if there is anything we can do in the mean time!

Jemma - we have seen the dietician once so far and she's rang twice, we are seeing her again at 8 months but can ring for an appointment earlier if I want. I still get his weight checked once a month because he has had a big drop in the past

Happyface - I hope Katerina's tummy settles soon, poor little girl :(

We have had a nightmare day, Little Man was awake from 10.30am until I put him to bed early at 6.45, he was just so unhappy and couldn't settle too sleep, I ended up giving him some calpol too help him settle for bed because he was screaming so much :( I wonder if it was the weetabix :(

You tell her AG lol

We see diatician every 2 months, consultant every 3 months normally but at the min thats every 2 weeks. Found out from diatician today he may need another endoscopy and colonoscopy to see whether his bowel is healing now hes off wheat and on the anti histamines but im not keen on that not after how bad he was last time so going to see what the consultant says thursday

Another one? :s Can they not tell from the symptoms? Surely if it is healing he will be feeling better?

OK I think the fish definitely didn't agree with Katerina. Yesterday and this morning she had a bit of diarrhoea. I mean its considered dearrhea even if its not completely watery right? She has been unwell for so long I'm not sure I know what is normal any more. She just sat there and it sounded like a thunderstorm :haha: it stank the flat!!! At least its getting out of her system. Her tummy is still bloated bless her!

See thats what im going to say to him, i dont think there is any need for another one. Its obvious how much better hes doing. He has abit of a bug at the minute but before this hes been like a different baby. I may sound awful but i cant see point in putting him through that again when i know now thats the reason because of how much of an improvement theres been

ETA: are they going to do allergy tests on katrina? Im sorry i didnt reply to your last pm ive got so much going on with connor at the minute it just slipped my mind

I agree with you 100%!! If the difference is huge why put him through this again. Too much I think. Really!

They will do upper and lower endoscopy and ano-rectal manometry. They wont test for allergies! :dohh: They say trial and error is the way to go. Well easy to say!

I think I will get her gluten free oats for breakfast see if this makes a difference. She has really loose stools and I read online it could be gluten intolerance? Hopefully it will help!

Jemma, i definatley woldnt put him through that again if you can clearly see from symptoms theres a difference!

We saw the paediatric dermatologist again today and we've come away with antibiotic liquid, fucidin H and dermol to put in the bath. The ezcema on his cheeks is still infected despite a week on fucidin so hopefully the new meds will help it heal. She said don't be afraid to use HC creams for 3 months if you have to, and not to stop after a week if it's not completely cleared up. I'd heard it was bad to use too much steroid cream for too long but I guess I'll take her word for it.

They took a scrape of the skin on his cheeks and a swab to test for bacteria. Then he had a blood test and they are going to check for the most common allergens (milk, soy, nuts, wheat, egg) and dust mites. Results will be back in 4-6 weeks. She seemed to think the blood test results would be pretty conclusive but I know some of you have not had much luck with blood tests so who knows...
