living with kids with allergies group

No oats arnt any. Connor has oatly, you can have oatly even if you have a wheat and gluten allergy

Oh really? Oh that's good. She loves it, especially chocolate version. Yoy can tell I'm doing this with out any help!

Urgh a bit confused.

I just feel a bit lost with all this 'its not right' business with her stools. I've now taken wheat out and seen some improvement but they are still half and half. there are times they are totally normal and times its not.

Referral came through for August.

Connors poos are still like that, they said its normal for them still not to be totally normal as hes not getting a normal diet

Hi Natalie! I'm sorry you are going through this, I hope you get some answers soon! :hugs:

We are doing really well in the sense that she is well as long as she doesn't eat anything that she reacts to. Her gut seems to be much better, and we have cut her medicines down a lot. I'm a bit disappointed though as I tried her on some wheat and it didn't go well. So that off our list as well! It is so much! :dohh:

Evening:hi:

Connors got his consultant appointment tomorrow, i know i shouldnt moan but its at the childrens hospital instead of our local hospital and the childrens hospital is around an hour and half away and its in middle of a city and hate travelling there. I am grateful that he see's the consultant there as there more specialised in children with various food allergies but i hate public transport. Thats my moan for tonight.

How is everyone and LOs doing? Connors been ok although he has the runs as i left my tea on the sofa yesterday while i went to get a drink and he ended up eating some sausage of my plate, i feel awful but i know i cant watch him 24/7. I need eyes in the back of my head

Jemma you are allowed to moan :) hope connor's appointment goes well.

I got Isobel seems to have improved with no wheat/gluten. I got dietitian appointment tomorrow.. about to tell her I cut out wheat! and to see if this can be tested at all as its only her bottom that is affected. Then I know whether or not to put everything back in her diet and get tested or not in Aug.

:hugs: Jemma, i got your fb request and accepted it :)

We went out to eat yesterday, being a picky family i went to Burger king for Rob and KFC for me...whilst at BK i found in the kids meals they have grilled chicken burgers! The rolls are a maybe/maybe not for Alex but we tried them and he was fine! and he didnt spit out the meat (he has a habit of doing that!). Im happy ive found somewhere he cant et out okay at :D Just a pain i dont like BK :haha:

Its all i ever do moan lol

I hope the diatician appointment goes well, i know for gluten which is cealiac they do a blood test but for wheat im not 100% sure because connor was diagnosed with a wheat allergy after having an colonoscopy and endoscopy but his symptoms were really severe and an actual wheat allergy is really rare so i dont know if they can do bloods or anything else. Im no use really lol i know nothing

Hi all, sorry I've not been around for a bit - had a poorly boy on my hands who wasn't giving me any spare time! Hope everyone is doing OK.

Still not sure what's going on with dairy. I've been giving Arlo yoghurts, and he even had his first bit of normal formula milk last week. There were no drastic reactions or flare ups. In fact, his eczema has cleared up completely at the moment.

But there are a couple of questionables. The day after the formula he came out in a red dotty rash all over his body. However, this was also the day his fever broke so I put it down to Roseola (my google diagnosis). The rash is fading now. Still not sure what the rash was caused by, but the GP said it looked viral.

Also, he has a 'chest infection' and has been snoring and snuffly for the last few days. The reason I put that in inverted commas is because I have a feeling it's not an infection, and the congestion is actually a result of the increase in dairy (both through my milk and the little bits I've been giving him). His temperature has gone and he is fine in himself, just rather congested. It reminds me of when he was tiny, before I cut out dairy, and you could feel his chest rattle and he had a permanent case of the snuffles.

I'm continuing with the course of antibiotics that the GP gave us for the chest infection, but if it doesn't clear up then I think I'm gonna have to put it down to dairy. So hard to tell as his illness could have caused all of these symptoms too.

My husband hates all those food places. We used to eat at ASK, Pizza Express and La Tasca. They all have their allergy menus on website and really really accommodating

my daughter has several food allergies: all dairy, eggs, tomato, banana, tuna, sesame, nuts, garlic, and something else which we still haven't managed to pinpoint! :(

Hello! Can I join you ladies please? My LO (Douglas) had an anaphylactic reaction when I first gave him whole egg at 12 months. His reaction was really severe, and my good friend (and GP!) saved the day by giving immediate adrenaline, antihistamine and oxygen then packing us off in an ambulance. Needless to say we now avoid everything that contains even a risk of trace of egg. He will be taken into hospital for a ‘challenge’ at some point in the future but to be honest I’m in no rush. Egg is fairly easy to avoid and I don’t want to go through that again!

:hugs: Khloeee, thats really hard. The only way you would really know if you try it again when he is better... I hate food elimination diets!!!

Jemma, with connor being wheat/gluten free do you get items on prescription for his food? Other than milk?

:hi: Sweetcheeks...

Connor is only wheat free but we get bread pasta and basic things on prescription. Were really lucky as you usually only get food on prescription if your cealiac which is allergic to gluten
