living with kids with allergies group

Hiya Arcanegirl, Khloee i think it was suggested Oatly in a post a put on baby club. That would be sooo much easier than pumping every day....dont have much time spare these days!Plus it can go in the micro presumably lol, which bm milk cant, so easier all rnd.So is it adequate nutritionally, and can i get it at an ordinary supermarket?

Thanks Happyface! The gp literally said cut it out, then re try at a year old, however i just have this niggle it will be an entire childhood thing cuz of the way we all are. I just feel she was brushing it off as nothing, which is is ridiculous considering what we went through with ds1. I mean that would make anyone edgy at the slightest hint of allergy. Will defo speak to my sons consultant tho, he's sensible.

Does anyone know how long it takes for dairy to be out of a babies system? I have cut everything for two days now, and his sin is looking clearer& he hasn't been sick (so far)

Hope evryones well
Thanks again
Rach
xx

Oatley is good for adding to foods etc but it isnt nutritionally complete as a full substitute, it isnt fatty enough etc. Can your Dr prescribe any of the formula subs?

2 days sounds good, it can take weeks but the differences can be noticed within days :)

:hi: Kiraelliott,
Were still using Neocate so dont have any experience yet of taking LO off it.

Hi girls

My son Noah was diagnosed with reflux in neonatal. As the months progressed he was diagnosed with reflux disease and now we are under gastro paediatric care at Yorkhill. He was diagnosed at 4 months with CMPI and he's now been on neocate for a fortnight. Slowly starting to see an improvement with the cmpi symptoms but the reflux is still very badly controlled.

The gastro paed wanted us to start weaning at 17 weeks. I tried for three days things were so bad I couldn't tell what was causing food/cmpi/reflux so I stopped again. I really wanted to give it another go before our appointment mid September as he's already stated other than an endoscopy he won't do anything for Noah's reflux until we've seen what effect weaning has.

Attempt again on Sunday with four weaning tip spoonfuls of cow and gate porridge that has no milk and the reaction was atrocious. Within 25 minutes he was screaming, arching etc and then the vomiting started. Took me until he next feed nearly three hours later to soothe and calm him. So rather scared by the prosect of weaning after that as to work out what he reacted to I imagine I'll need to feed him the various ingredients again to see what caused the reaction. Don't get me wrong I know it needs to be done but if we are the unlucky one in three whose reflux gets worse with weaning I don't know what I'll do.

We already barely leave the house as it is and poor Noah gets fed on the floor surrounded by bath towels as he'll vomit a whole bottle back at you with no notice.

I apologise for the major whinge, on my own mostly as OH works away from home and at nearly 5 months we are no further forward than when Noah was born.

We live about 10 minutes outside of Kilmarnock.

We're doing ok! Seeing Katerina's specialist in about 3 weeks time to see if we can cut down the antihistamines now everything seems to be under control! How about you? x

Aww everyone I talk to on here is looking for places to live including me! hehe Only we need to sell smt in Greece fist! :dohh:

Hi ladies,

Glad I found you. My 2.5 year old son has always had eczema right from birth. He was a December baby and always flares up in the winter. He had some bowel issues as a baby and we never figured out why; he just seemed to outgrow it. The kid's eczema was so bad, he had it on his penis and everyone constantly thought he had to go to the washroom.

Anyway, yesterday morning, we gave him peanut butter on toast. Within half an hour, he had a rash around his mouth. We called the doctor, who never called back. The rash slowly began to spread but never came above his nose and when the rash hadn't disappeared by 6:30pm, almost 10 hours since ingestion, we gave him Kid's Benadryl. That still didn't take it away.

We already know that he is allergic to citrus fruits. They cause extreme abdominal pain and vomitting. I really hope he doesn't have this peanut allergy because my daughter LOVES peanut butter. It's her favourite morning meal and given that she has special needs, sometimes giving her peanut butter is the only way to get her to eat in the morning.

The first picture is half an hour after ingestion, the second is an hour after Benadryl. What do you think?

Hi BrandiCanucks!

I am afraid it does sound like an allergy! There is nothing more certain than seeing a reaction like this. It does also sound like the bowel issues he had could be related to allergies. Katerina suffers from multiple food allergies and she rarely develops a rash, 99% its tummy/bowel issues.

I think you should take him to the doctor! :hugs:

Hi brandi, my ds1 has a peanut, and hazlenut allergy. He gets covered in hives, swells, vomits, then i give epinephrine. I still give my other children peanut butter, and i eat it BUT i have to be very careful regarding cross contamination. My littlest man has cows milk protein allergy ?(we think) and gets constipated, and covered in facial eczema (but no where else) He is also very unsettled during the night. What does ur doc say? xxx

Hows everyone doing?

Were back off holiday and its so hard being out all day and finding stuff to feed LO, all i did was worry constantly

:hi:
Were moving in 10 days so been busy organising that!
Alex has been okay, a little rashy as usual but mostly okay.

Hey guys! just weighed baby boy...and 4weeks ago at baby clinic he was 17lb 15 oz, today he's 17lb 12? and its later in the day, so i guess youd expect him to be more. Is this the cows milk protein allergy causing this? Up until 19weeks he was a fantastic gainer....so frustrating! x

It is possible if the allergy affects the stomach, bowels etc...It wasnt the case for Alex as his is just on the skin
