living with kids with allergies group

Sorry to hear everyone is having a tough time. James seems to be doing better with his lactose intolerance. We were back to square one in October after his severe gastroenteritis. But now he is drinking a few ounces of cows milk twice a week and has been fine! His skin is more dry but his eczema doesn't seem to have flared much and his poo is normal! I'm so happy but trying not to get overly excited cos we were at this stage before and then went back to square one.

Littlekitten glad to hear you are doing better! Lets hope it will only get better from here. It is so disheartening when they take steps back!

Katerina is doing ok so far with dairy. I haven't changed her milk yet and won't until I'm 100% sure. I think I will give it a month. But she has cheese on a daily basis and a yogurt! I also gave her some more egg white the other day and she was fine!! I can not believe this! I was so scared after the reaction she had a few months ago but didn't notice a single thing this time! I guess NAET is working for us and I couldn't be more thrilled. Wish I had known about it earlier! :dohh:

Thats great :)

I'm pissed off at FIL for feeding Maria a bun with egg in it right before we're supposed to get her passport photo done. Not gonna do it now cos her face is terrible :(

I suppose one or two NAET appointments would be completely pointless if we can't do anymore? OH was wondering if we could do that when we go to England if it would help any

Awwwww hod stupid of FIL!!! PIL always want to feed them things that they are not allowed to have!! MIL still asks me every time if she can give K chocolate! I mean part of them being allergic to smt can they not understand??

It takes a lot of time to get treated for everything but if you know a couple of things that bother her like egg you could do it fairly quickly! We did the egg on visit 1 but did have to do egg white again on visit 2. Having said that her reaction to eggs before were severe. Visit 3 we did dairy and it worked instantly it seems.. And I think she could have treatments every couple of days so it might be worth looking into it! Its definitely not worthless! If you can treat even 1 allergy then I think its worth it!

Hmm if we could just treat dairy it would open up so much more food to us. I shall see if there's any practitioners near my parents and contact them :)

Were at the diatician in just over half an hour, absolutly dreading it:(

Hope it went okay Jemma :hugs:
We have the childrens hosp on Weds for allergy testing review. Gonna be a long day!

Does anyone have any experience with Protopic ointment/cream?
Took Maria to the child allergy specialist yesterday :)happydance:) and he prescribed Protopic as he said its less dangerous to the skin than hydrocortosone creams. But it scares me a bit as he told me I have to give Maria ibuprofen an hour before applying the cream because it hurts?

But I'm glad we got in to see him (all thanks to FIL, who phoned him and got us an immediate appointment when normally you have to wait weeks) and we're going back next week to do the milk challenge.

Ive no experience of it as LO only has a couple of small patches of ecezma that thankfully have only required hydrocortisone cream a couple of times but i really hope it works for you.

Do you think when he said to give ibruprofen because it hurts that he might just mean it could sting when applied? Ive never heard of creams hurting

Yeah I think it must be cos it stings. I put it on her face today and she didn't cry more than she normally does when I put cream on so I guess it wasn't too bad.

It seems to be helping already. I tried some of it on my own face to see how much it stings, it only really tingles a little so thats good.

Glad to hear the cream is working!!! Hopefully she will sleep better now!

She slept better, just got up too early :haha: and she's rubbing her face less.

Two pots of tea and I'm ok :haha:

She doesn't look like she has eczema at all now. This cream is amazing!!! I think its also helped that the weather has been a bit warmer the last few days.

Alex was at Yorkhill yesterday and they re did his skin prick tests.
We had been avoiding Milk, Soya, Beans (mostly), Peas (mostly) and Lentils.
All of those tested and came out Positive still for Milk, beans and peas but negative for Soya and lentils!
Were avoiding beans and peas entirely and seeing if soya can be reintroduced :happydance:
