May Emeralds 2014 - Parenting

I know! We can't let this group fizzle out :(! Would be easier if there was an app for it so we can get notifications haha!

So glad to hear all babies are doing well!

Once my spare room is all set up (and all the junk in Taylor's room is in there) I think he'll be having his own room soon :)! Discovered yesterday he hates sweet potato...it's the only food he's ever spat out at me and refused even a second spoonful! When we do tummy time now he looks like he's attempting to crawl (his arms and legs are almost making the right motions) but is only succeeding in turning himself to face the opposite direction...we'll get there eventually haha :') hoping start with finger foods like bananas in a few weeks :) xxxx

I guess we were all too busy being amazed at how fast our little ones are growing up to come here!

Arthur's doing well. He's sitting up unaided for short periods of time, we should be able to start BLW soon :) he still hates tummy time though and rolling over isn't his favourite neither.
We're waiting-it-out, and up until now he'd sleep only if someone was there... this week I've been able to leave the bedroom twice and he even fell asleep on his own while I was getting ready for bed! I was not expecting to find him asleep when I came back from the bathroom, it was a pleasant surprise. It's okay if it doesn't happen again anytime soon though, personally I look forward for our bedtime cuddles :)

I saw my niece for the first time today, she's 6 weeks old... makes me realise how much I want another baby :haha:

glad everyone & their babies are doing well :)
this thread can't die! its great for us to get advice and help each other :)
but yeah I agree we all have other commitments and I didn't realize just how quickly they grow
fleur, thinking back to when Lyle was tiny I am so broody

there just doesnt seem enough hours in the day at the minute!!!!

Well my little man had his head x ray on tuesday he was so good didnt flinch! We now have to wait for specialist report from that and an appt at alder hey were he will likely get a 3d ct scan done which frightens me, how on earth will they do that on a baby :/

Hes well and truly on the moving rolling and army crawling and starting to get on all 4's he needs to slow down!!!

Nic to be honest I give him full fat greek yoghurt because of his weight issues and he either has it plain or with fruit puree in, if im out and about I have some of the little petit filous style ones you generally find supermarkets cheap brand have the least amounts in, x

Rosie, fingers crossed everything's all right with your little boy's head :)

My little girl can roll from stomach to back but still can't roll the other way. However, she is now arching her back a lot so I think it will be coming soon. She may also be a back scoocher like her older brother was. She's not moving around yet but she can wiggle around and move a few inches here and there. She's also starting to sit for a few seconds at a time. I keep working on that.

She is also growing SO much. She is only 4 1/2 months and I'm already putting away her 6 month clothes and pulling out the 9 month. I get so sentimental about it all. I hate putting away outfits. :(

We're still here. Struggling with weight gain. She's dropped to 3rd percentile, but happy and meeting milestones, so we're just continuing on. Started solids this weekend. I do BLW and she's so ready developmentally, she's a natural. Avocado was a hit

5 month update!

Health

Ella is on baby gaviscon which helps the reflux. We are also in the process of finding a formula that suits her because of her cows milk protein allergy but for the most part she is on soya which still dosent suit her but she i better on that than on normal formula. so i think she has a soya intollerance as well . When she has anything with cows milk protein in she gets a very red spotty face. gas diarrhoea, really sick and is very grumpy an generally ill. we plan to do blw next month but for now she has baby rice and baby porridge.

Physical deelopment

She rolls over a lot and looks surprised when she does it! she also can sit up for a couple of seconds but when she moves she falls ... well she would if i didn't catch her

emotional and speech

she gets grumpy when she sees people eating or if she wants to be piked up she will put her hands up and wimper. she has a fake cry which is different from her normal one and squeels a lot which is loud!

she loves giving me kisses and cuddles when i have been away from her for any length of time. and i get a huge smile off her. she adores her dad and he can always make her laugh and her nain and taild get a smile too!

Lovely update! Hope you sort out a milk that works for Ella it must be a nightmare not being able to sort it out.

Lexi update:

We have started weaning as she is able to sit up unaided and was hammering 6 oz bottles every 2 hours having in excess of 40oz a day. She loves c&g apple & blueberry porridge, avacado sticks, banana and green beans so far although hates avacado if it's been mushed.

She can roll in both directions, sit up and is commando crawling. She can also pull herself out of her play nest now so that's no longer a safe place to leave her while I make a coffee :D

I'm gonna get her weighed next week but she's definitely chunkier now than her last weigh in a few weeks ago when she was 16lb 3oz.

She giggles like crazy when I blow raspberries on her belly and squeals constantly with lots of cooing in between.

This is her yesterday looking cheeky

We officially started BLW!
tumblr_inline_ndz8pldWjM1rnjp5l.jpg

I don't know. Maybe we should've chosen something else as his first veggie :haha:

Had his 6 month pediatrician appointment yesterday, he's 12lbs13oz. So still a tiny tiny baby, but at least now the pediatrician is not worried anymore. Phew. She thinks we're doing purees though, and basically wants us to overfeed him. Ugh, right, because THAT is healthy.

Fleur, he's bigger than J... We started BLW also. She loved her first taste of broccoli. She also LOVED the meat sauce from our pasta last night.

May must be the tiny baby thread! Oliver is a little dink too! Brocolli was his first whole food he loves it!

we have started blw too! but only veggies and fruit and potoato so fa because of her sensitive tummy. i cant wait to tart it properly

6 months today! They said time would fly and it sure did! Before we know it we'll be celebrating our May babies' first birthday, it's crazy.

OH's family is so vehemently against us doing BLW. It's like we're criminals because we're giving him finger food! They use the argument "the government says to start with purees", but that same government is sending the public nutritionists at BLW conferences because it'll be included in next year's official recommendations... but of course OH's family doesn't believe me as it hasn't be publicly announced.

They aren't the ones who'll be feeding your baby several times a day and they don't get to make the parenting choices so if you want to BLW go for it and when they say anything just smile and change the subject.

We are doing a mix of TW and finger foods and so far she is loving good. Lexi started commando crawling a few weeks ago and is now zipping all over the place using tons of energy so she's eating loads to make up for it. Her fave foods so far are avacado, toast with butter and anything with tomatoes in.

ETA she was weighed at 24 weeks and was 17lb 4oz, she's 25.5 weeks old now.

i have no clue what ella wigs! i havent had her weighed ina while

I've no idea what Lyle weighs either!
last time I had him weighed was probably coming up 2months ago and he was 16lb

Bryson was 16lbs last week, about 30%.

How time is flying. My DD is 4 today. Bryson will be 7 months in 11 days.
