I want a sling/carrier, i just DONT know which one to go for, I really like the moby wrap..but think that might be quite difficult to put on correctly, and wondering if thats not more suitable than a new born rather than when LO grows a bit? and i'vejust seen the baba sling, which looks a little simpler?

does any one recomend either of these? I only want to buy one, dont want to buy the moby then need another a few months down the line..!

Any one else getting a sling? I dont like the mei tei type ones? to me they look more suitable for older babies

I had the babsling with my first. We never really got on with it. She just seemed very uncomfortable and squished. I've ordered the Moby for this baby as I've had friends use it for quite a few months from newborn and the babies always seem so settled in them!

I use a stretchy wrap which is similar to a moby until 5-6 months then I switch to my Manduka (similar to an ergo). xx

The moby just takes a bit of practice but it's a great carrier - lots of different carrying options too. And if you plan to BF, you can do it pretty easily in the moby.

I just got my moby in the mail yesterday, but I'm already pretty good at wrapping it. It's not very complicated. And I can't vouch for it with a newborn yet, but I put my 2-year-old in it and she loves it!

The baba sling looks like it would hurt your back after not too long?

I'm getting a Moby... it doesn't look very complicated to me (watch some of the instructional videos, they make it look far less hard than the written instructions!). I plan to use it around the house mostly, so I can still move around with my son instead of being confined to the couch to feed all the time. But I imagine I'll get to where I just wear it everywhere!

I had a babasling with my first LO. I didn't like it personally - he never felt very secure. My OH liked it but he never used it outside the house. I had a baby bjorn which for me, was a lot better.

This time, I have the mobywrap. I've practised using it at home a few times and it felt a million times more secure than the babasling. Will take some getting used to but I think it'll be fine after a few gos :0

Apart from the one above I have rarely read a good review of the babasling. My best friend has one and her and her baby hate it! Many people on here have reported not getting on with it. If you head over to the natural parenting section of this website there are lots of ladies with a lot of babywearing experience to ask (some of whom never use a pram).

I have two mei tais and love them BUT my DD did not get on with them until about 4 months. I do agree with you that they are mainly better for older babies (though some manage fine with newborns). For the next I plan a stretchy wrap (like a Moby style wrap) to start with and then to switch to the mei tai when older.

have you looked at a ringsling? similar idea to the babasling but more customisable

Oh I forgot to add above - I'm getting a mai tei too! I'm hopefully getting one for christmas :D

we like the baby k'tan carrier. it's like a moby but is much easier to put on so it is great for throwing on quickly. it is also less fabric so easier to work with.

ignore heloise and her advertising! Babaslings are rubbish for newborns but i hear theyre good when hip carrying. I'm getting a moby and an ergo this time. I had babasling and mei tai for amelie which i can also use.

Thanks! I've ordered my self a mei tai, can't wait for it to arrive! :D
