Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

sarah - great bargains! you dont get car boot sales like that here!

owen naps ok. 1-2 naps a day totaling 1-1&1/2 hrs most days i guess. we have a bedtime routine. he has food, bath (though sometimes it's bath then food) then a bit of floor time to play/crawl/cruise around a bit then at between 7.30-8 and then at 8 bf in the living room, then i say it's bed time and he says 'bye' to the others in the room and blows kisses. i put him in his cot in our bedroom, read him a story, shut the blinds and kiss him and say goodnight and then leave. then he cries! unless dan is there and then he goes to sleep in about 5-10mins with him in the room. if i stay in he never goes to sleep :dohh: i think that as i have slipped up a couple of times and bf during the night maybe he's confused? i'm going to try not to do that any more. at the mo he seems really obsessed with boobie and is constantly trying to pull my top down, even in public :dohh::haha:

well i made a start on cleaning the bathroom earlier but had to stop to make lunch for everyone so i'd best get back to it. just the floor to do now. catch you later!

Ooh, Sarah the car boot sounds great! Makes me wish i had a car sometimes, then me and Roh could go off and do stuff like that. We went to the playground this morning, which was nice anyway, and i got chatting to a couple of other mums. Then we sat under a tree and had a snack, i bumped into some old work collegues on the way home, so all in all a lazy sunday morning, now i have a garden full of laundry and more in the machine and its clouded over

Maybe, i always used to stay in with Roh until he fell asleep, but then i was getting so frustrated when he wasn't falling asleep fast enough (i was in there over an hour some nights and sometimes 2) so now i just give him big cuddles, pop him in the cot, tell him i love him, stroke his head for a minute and then leave the room. He always cries for about 5 seconds now, and then, settles down, occassionally he'll cry briefly again, but generally he's fine. It was a bit of a wrench to start with, but i was getting so frustrated i'd shout at him.... not very constructive really. Of course he falls asleep in about 30 seconds for OH :dohh: I'll never give Roh anything if he wakes in the night, and certainly i won't get him out of the cot (well, unless he's obviously ill or has pooed) i offer him water from his cup, thats all, but anything before 7am and he's got no chance!

Well, i'm determined not to gain weight like i did last pregnancy! I put on 6 stone, and i seriously can't afford to do that seeing as i've only lost half of it, i can't be ending up 9stone heavier than before i had children, thats like a whole extra person in weight! I figure as i'm overweight i can afford to keep losing right until 3rd tri pretty much. Problem is my appetite is already increasing  I've got a cupboard full of cupasoups and ryvita for snacks and i'm just eating a low fat yogurt and raspberry lolly that i made yesterday, best idea ever! They are yummy and quite healthy really  I have my first MW app. on the 22nd so we'll see what she says, but i'm betting i'll be under consultant care due to my bmi. Meh.

Hey all -

Emera - the write up was lovely, I will be thinking about you on Thursday and really hope you are getting on ok.

Sarah - Those are great bargains! I wish I could find something like that instead I have my heart set on a dress from coast ... it is in the saqle but still a bit too expensive!

Maybe - we have a similar bedtime routine and Amy will only settle with Dave at the moment ... I think itss because I have picked her up and brought her back down a couple of times and now when I do it she plays up!

We have had a lovely weekend - pictures on facebook - just wanted you opinions on how much more weight you all think I look like I need to lose? I wore shorts for the first time outsidethe house in years and not sure if I can get away with it!

Also my period is late ... only a couple of days and I havent said anything to Dave as since our last m/c my periods arent 100% accurate ... I am terrified to do a test but period is only a couple of days late so I think I will wait until later in the week and see what happens as I fele very periody and everytime I have been pregnant I have 'known'.

Another thing i have been invited to an interview to become a weight watchers leader ... and my story might be in the magazine in a couple of months time!

Hope everyone is ok sorry for rambling!

H&F - You are looking fab lady! And you can definately get away with shorts  Personally i think you look about right weight wise, but i know from looking in the mirror at myself when i'd lost alot of weight that you probably don't see as much change as everyone else does. I'd guess if you lost another half stone that would be about as far as you'd want to go. Thats my opinion anyway :hugs: Oh, and you have good legs, i'm jealous! :D

h&f - you look great. i don't think you particularly have to lose any more weight. as emera said sometimes you have a warped perception of what you actually look like. i still feel really fat some days, though i have people say that i've lost weight! still have 2kg to go though! and not doing well these days :dohh: i think it's fab they've asked you to be a ww leader! do you get paid for that or is it voluntary? about your period being late. i'd just test to put your mind at rest and know what's what, but i just cant wait 1 day over my period due date to test, whether i'm ttc or not  i am due on thursday and am hoping that af comes as we had the slip up earlier this month

emera - i used to make smoothies with banana and frozen summer fruits and some skimmed milk and a bit of sugar/sweetener. they were yummy and good for you too!

owen refused to settle for me again :dohh: i gave up after 20mins and left the room. he started crying so dan went in and within 5 mins he was asleep. now dan is rubbing it in that he can settle him and i can't

H&F I dont have you on fb so cant see your fab pics :(

Mork I just send you friend suggestions for H&F, FruFru and Emera :)

Thank you ladies - I think my AF is actually later than I thought ... just went to do a test and realised there are none let in the box. Am not going to say anything to Dave until after I have tested but decided to go to the shops first thing tomorrow ... I will prob end up testing in the toilets at the shopping center, that is unless AF has come by then! And was thinking Emera if I am pregnant I will due around the same time as you so would love to share journeys. x x x

H&F: Good luck tom! You look great and have done so well

Maybe: Glad Owen did settle :hugs:

Emera: I think you can totally watch what you eat till third tri. Good luck with the drs. I was treated pretty shabbily because of my weight. My advice is don't put up with any shit from them :hugs:

Evening!

H&F you can def get away with shorts!

Oliver still needs boobie to get to sleep  I've decided that in October I'm going to start very slowly getting him to sleep in his own room. I think Steve would quite like to get our bed back :haha: and by October I'm not busy with weddings etc so its not too bad if my evenings are taken up with a screaming toddler and I get no sleep :dohh:

This afternoon, when Steve got up, we went to Pontefract castle and had a walk around which was really lovely, its been so hot again!!

Emera I need your sewing help!! The two Betty Jackson dresses I bought today need taking up, they are calf length and when you're 5'2" calf length is not a good look  I want to take them up to knee length. They are both the same but in different colours, the skirts are quite full but it looks like it might be fairly simple to alter them. I'm not too bad with the sewing machine so I'm tempted to have a go myself . . . . . do you think it sounds like something quite simple / easy or do you think it might be harder than in looks and I should take them and have them done professionally?

Modo - Trust me i won't put up with any crap ;) It really annoys me though how arbitrarily they work out your BMI, they just weigh you and ask how tall you are, thats it... they don't take into account your build or activity levels at all, grrr, they put me on consultant care last time and i was sitting there in size 12/14 clothes thinking, "seriously, its that much of a risk?" If i was morbidly obese i'd understand it, seems like such a waste of time. I used to swim at county level when i was younger and its left me pretty muscular (under the wobble :haha:) bleh, anyway, it will all be fine ;)

H&F - :hugs: if you do get a BFP then yeah we likely would be due at the same time, would be nice to have someone i know as a buddy :hugs:

emera - seriously you were under consultant care at size 12/14  i dont think they do that here!!! oh well consultant care means more scans here  is it the same there? my friend got scanned every 2 weeks as she has a bicornuate (sp?) uterus.

well i just weighed myself and have lost 1kg :happydance: so 1kg to go :D

Emera: Dont get me started on bmi, I hate that stupid "test" so much

Maybe: Well done!!!!

Hey all -

I was heavily overweight last time I think I started in the obese category and still wasnt under consultant care! Not sure why! I have barely had any sleep ... just going to chill out this morning and then head over the shops later.

Didnt even think about it before but I am supposed to be going away this weekend for my hen night ... not sure how to deal with that if I get a BFP today.

Hope everyone is ok x x x

Morning all!

HandF good luck with the test!

You're all going to be making me broody soon :haha:

We completely overslept :dohh: so we are giving toddler group a miss. Oliver slept from 7.30 until about 2.30, then until 6, and then until 9, so not too bad. I do wonder if he would still wake up if I wasn't there?

Right, breakfast time! Have a great day everyone! X

Maybe - no idea why they decided i needed consultant care at the weight i was at before, fair enough if they do now as i'm like 20kg heavier still! i was signed off at about 30 weeks after the 5th GD test when they finally gave up and decided i was actually fairly healthy! :haha: It didn't mean extra scans, but a ton of extra appointments at the hospital (further away than the MW centre :growlmad: ) Anyway i'm gonna kick off if they start mucking me about this time, i don't have time for all those appointments this time! Saying that i bet i'll have to see the consultants anyway because of the recent PCOS diagnosis :dohh:

Well we had a fun morning, went to the early parenting class, the MW i spoke to on the phone recommended i went as they've changed their systems and set up since i had Roh. Anyway, it was boring :haha: but they are offering the NT scan on the NHS now, rather than it costing £200 for a private one. If you are over 30 that is. Still not fully sure i want the test done though, i skipped them all last time.
I had to take Roh along with me, and he never stopped moving about for the whole 45 minutes. He totally emptied his nappy bag, emptied my wallet, ate 3 leaflets, pulled over the basket of sample pots so they rolled all over the floor, climbed in to the (empty) waste paper bin and rolled around the room laughing, and then went round trying to take people's shoes off and put his toys into people's handbags . At the end the midwife said " and this has been good as you've had an example of what life will soon be like (everyone else was 1st time mums), so get plenty of rest over the next 8 months" :haha: Think i scared the crap out of a whole roomful of newly pregnant couples with my manic child! :happydance: it was worth going just to see the slight worry on everyone's faces as they watched me running about for the whole class :D
Afterwards i grabbed a coffee (decaf boooo!) and we went to the park so Roh could blow off some more steam. A nice morning realy. Now i have to go to work and i'm knackered!

Emera: :haha: I wish I could have been a fly in that room  you really have no idea what you are in for at that stage  I really had no clue that's for sure!

Emera  I always think that babies / toddlers, as much as they are hard work, it always looks harder than it feels, if you know what I mean? Like its different when its your own? I bet there were a lot of pale faces leaving that meeting  Roh sounds like such a little character - I love that he was trying to take off peoples shoes and putting toys into handbags :haha:

Not much to report from here today! We popped to the shops earlier as I mentioned that I would like some new shoes and Steve offered to pay :haha: Typically though I couldn't find anything I liked - I know what I want and nothing was quite right. Before I fell pregnant with Oliver all I wore was heels - and if they hurt, well it was all just part of having pretty shoes :haha: Steve bought me some flats when I got my BFP as he was paranoid I was going to slip or trip over in my heels, and now I only wear flats :dohh: I have some pretty wedges but I don't wear them often, when I'm running about after Oliver I just want really comfy flat shoes :haha:

I've had a really quiet evening, I did my house work earlier and I have just been chilling out. I could have found some housework or something but it's been quite nice to do nothing :haha: I think I'm going to paint my toe nails before bed now!

Sarah i totally agree, Roh is so much fun its not exactly hard work ;) I bet it looked like chaos from the outside :haha:

I only ever wear flat shoes, firstly as i'm reasonable tall, and second because i'm a creature of comfort. Same reason i don't wear make up, i find it really uncomfortable! At the moment i have 3 pairs of shoes, some really comfy sandal / flipflop things which i wore through most of being pregnant with Roh, and they are still going strong  Some suede lace-up fur lined boots which are super comfy, but a bit hot right now, and some waterproof hiking trainers which i wear most the time. I really spent out on them, and they are extra practical and sensible. Seeing as i pretty much exclusively babywear, its really important to have some decent shoes on i've found ;) Anyway, how boring about my shoes  i think being a mum allows you to slip into the realm of "practical" footwear, rather than killer heels without shame! :haha:

Haha, Emera you are so right!

I wouldn't like to start listing all my shoes  though at the moment I'm normally in flipflops or Vans. I'm way too paranoid about slipping to wear heels now, even the other month when we went out I took my heels and changed my shoes at my mums after we'd dropped Oliver off. I have about 20 pairs of really gorgeous killer heels which I doubt I'll wear again, I should ebay them really - except my Manolo Blanhiks, I can't part with them, even though they really are a bit too tight  I might just put them on a shelf where I can coo at them :haha:

I love that you baby wear. I end up carrying Oliver half the time anyway, I would probably be better off just wearing him. Which carrier do you have again?
