Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Thanks for that Sarah, it really depends what my friend wants for it. I have to say though it would be great to replace my My3 which is totally falling apart, with something decent. I'll probably get a stroller too though. Thing is I've been avoiding big heavy pushchairs cos of our stairs to the flat, but we won't be living here by the end of the year, so it would be a shame to miss a good oppertunity!

I hope you get a bargain! The apple is lovely to push - well not so much when I put the jogger wheel on, I need to switch it back to four wheels :haha: We have steps up to our front door (about 6 steps) but I leave the pushchairs in the cars when I can. I expect with the Pear you would take each bit in seperate - so take the baby with the carrycot, then the stroller seat, then the chassis, so it could be a few trips if you've got stopping too. But I guess that would be the same with most doubles really? If you could get a lightweight one too that would be great

Its already 3 trips with roh and an umbrella fold stroller, 1 for bags, 1 for roh and 1 for the stroller, so it makes no difference really ;)

Bobby finally went to bed at 2.30pm but I couldn't sleep for a while afterwards. Fortunately Ben took him downstairs when he woke up at 7am so I got to sleep till 9.15am.

Emera I hav got the apple/pear now and I live in a flat-I leave the chassis in the shed and take the seat up. It is great to push, but the 'bigger seat' is not as big on the pear as it is the apple, so not sure how long t will fit in it tbh. Xx

hey girlies! what a week! so much going on at work and at home. i'm shattered!

LC - hope will is on the mend!

emera - i remember the uncomfortableness of late pregnancy. i had a pregnancy pillow and it helped loads. well worth the money! have you got one?

sarah - loved your fb pic of oliver in laura ashley :)

mork - how's things? are you still working?

modo - i have gotten to the end of my tether with owen's sleep and as from yesterday have left him to CIO at bedtime. i haven't got the time to sit there for an hour!

i'm going out to celebrate a colleauge's retirement on friday night. dan is working nights so my mum is having owen and erin and MIL is having dylan and that means i get a LIE IN!!! the 2nd lie in since Owen has been born! :happydance::yipee::wohoo::dance: i dont know whether i'm more excited about a night out or a lie in the next day :haha:

Maybe, i'd definitely be excited about a lie in!! Oh, and yes i have a pregnancy pillow which i use with a selection of others to make a nest! Its quite comfy to start with, but i think i'm just not comfortable full stop!

Modo - Glad you got to have a bit of sleep in the end!

Sarah and Mork - Thanks alot for the input about the icandy. Mork to be honest, anything is better than the My3 i have, which is close to death, and Roh doesn't really fit the seat properly. To be honest i'd be surprised if he fit anything properly, as he's pretty tall, so his legs dangle out of everything as it is! I expect i'd only use the pear as it is for about 8 months or so anyway and then take the doubles kit off and use it as the apple with a buggy board or something similar. Still waiting on a definite price from my friend so it may still be too expensive anyway.

L-C - Hope Will is getting better :hugs:

Well i've had an ok day, went to my antenatal refresher class, which was actually pretty useful, nice just to have a reminder of what's going to happen  It was lovely to meet up with one of the girls i was in my last set of antenatal classes with, and postnatal too. Her daughter is 3 weeks older than Roh and she's due 3 weeks before me, so identical age gaps. We lost touch when my phone died last year, so very nice to see her and catch up! Also bumped into an old old friend i haven't seen for about 4 years on my way to town! She was like OOH BUMP! and i just laughed and said it was the second one :haha: she's moved back here to just down the road, so will be good to catch up with her too. Plus she's a pediatrician, handy!
Went into town just to by some big pants (mmm comfy) and some stretchy trousers and cotton wool, classy shopping! :haha: Christ its knackered me out though!

Maybe YAY for a lie in!!!!! Woo hoo! Don't you dare be out of bed before lunch! :haha:

Emera love your glam shopping :haha: I remember buying big pants when I was pregnant, and then thinking how amazingly comfy they were

Talking of glam, I was thinking the other day about shoes - pre Oliver I ALWAYS wore heels and just kind of accepted that after a while shoes hurt - and that some shoes just hurt full stop :haha: All my shoes had at least a two inch heel. Then when I got pregnant Steve bought me flat boots, Uggs and some flat shoes - so I didn't tipple over in heels - and I've still not really gone back to wearing heels. I have some boots with a two inch heel which I sometimes where - but not if I've got Oliver on my own, then I wear flats, I just don't feel safe carrying Oliver in heels. Maybe i'll be able to wear them again when he's about ten :haha:

We had a lovely day, went into town for a few things. Steve came so as it was cold we took the car, but he forgot to check what time it was when he bought the ticket :dohh: When we got back to the car we were five mins over and the traffic warden was stood next to it - he just said 'is this your car? You know your tickets expired?' So Steve said oh I'm really sorry, lost track of time etc and the traffic warden just said don't worry about it, just don't do it again!   So they aren't all bad :haha: Aften that we went to Laura Ashley as I'd seen a key hook I wanted. Well I had to order it in but it was half price, and they had the discontinued coats one to match for half price too :happydance: Then they also had the coffee table we've been wanting for half price and a little side table to match with 70% off because it was ex display! So we ended up ordering those too, so a pretty expensive trip for a key hook :haha:

Sarah - I very rarely wear heels either! I did the other day and ended up at the playground so nOt good! Was uncomfortable running after kids!

omg heels that would be so girly. I can't remember the last time I wore them or nice clothes for that matter, can't see it happening any time soon either.

Well Will had a much better day yesterday but 9 pm the mother of all poonami's came and had to get him up and bath him. That and vomiting on my bed have been the theme since. So back to the Dr as I've tried everything to get him to take his antibiotic's he's just too clever! So Dr has said bin the antibiotics and sort a poo sample. Had to carry him down the Dr, hold him whilst scrape poo into a minute pot in the grubby toilets - but it's done phewee. Our freezer has been a bit tempermental recently we had someone out to look at it and they said it was ok but not for long term freezing. Anyway DH gave will fishfingers on Sat (when this all started). I went to the freezer Monday to give him an icepop and they were like mush. The Dr is thinking that might be the cause. I feel terrible!!!!! I will never feed him from the freezer again. It never rains but it pours.

To make my morning extra special, I must have scouped up a nappy with the poonami bedding that has now spread itself accross the downstairs - oooops. Thank god the washing machine is fixed.

Our baby is really kicking and I just don't seem to have the time to sit and be amazed by it.

Hope you all have a good day.

Those bragains sound great Sarah.

CIO isn't always a bad thing maybe - if he was very slightly older he would be shouting his objections, it's always worked very quickly with Will and he's better for it now.

Emera - we're having the buggy dilema with no money, I really was the baby jogger city select, but the icandy pear looks lush - they're both just sooooo expensive. I haven't decided about antinatal this time but sounds like you had a nice time - I'm tempted now.

Anyone see 15 and counting....... OMG!!!!!!

Lots of love xxxxx

CIO doesn't work for us. We tried it in the past and it worked but it stopped when he was one. He is prepared to scream for far too long.

I think I've sort of done CIO, but With Roh its weird, I know when its going to work and when it won't, some days he'll sob for a minute or two then give up, and others he's never ever going to stop. Because of that we've never really done it as an actual sleep training, as nothing seems to work on him long term. That said, these days he's a dream, so hopefully he'll stick to this phase.

Went to the doctor today as I've been so uncomfortable and its been painful walking in the mornings. Found out why I can't get comfy anyway, I have SPD. Damn. Have been given codiene, which to be honest I only plan to take if I'm desperaten and a pair of crutches. :dohh: This is such a pain, I don't know what to do, as it means I'm basically stuck in the house unless OH is around :( it is pretty painful though, oh well, onlky a few more weeks to go, sure I'll cope for a while.

Emera I had SPD and its horrible. I avoided crutches by only going out if Steve was there, but I got 'stuck' in M&S once  My legs just wouldn't move, it was horrible, I thought Steve was going to have to pick me up and carry me :haha: Apparently in that situation you can walk backwards but not forwards  Did your Dr refer you for Physio? Not that it did me a whole lot of good, but I got a support belt which was pretty good. SPD is horrid though, putting your knickers on becomes the most painful thing ever! Did you have it last time?

We've had a lovely day, not been anywhere but got a few jobs done around the house and had a good giggle :)

Sarah, I have been referred for physio which shouldn't take long as after 30 weeks the doctor said he can put it through as urgent. The crutches are more because in the morning I can't even get down the hall to Roh's room without crawling the last few days :( ergh, this sort of thing is my worst nightmare. I never had it last time, and I've been fine this time up to a couple of weeks ago. OH is really annoyed as he thinks its been caused by my work making me carry on with the heavy lifting for so long. Don't know if he's right or not.

:hugs: for your Emera, its no fun but when you know what makes it worse / sets it off it does get a bit easier IYKWIM. And more or less as soon as Oliver was born it went away! I just had the odd twinge every now and then for a few months.

I just booked a holiday :happydance: Its just to Somerset (not that far from you Emera!) for a week in April. My parents are going too as it's my Dad's 60th, we're going to have a day at Longleat, and it looks like there is loads of other things to do around there - including a steam train for Oliver :haha: Yay!

emera you poor thing :hugs:

LC you cant beat yourself up about the freezer, it's one of those things you just dont know about :hugs: i'm sure he'll be on the mend soon.

modo we have been (or rather i have been) really inconsistent about sleep training and i think that he has been really mixed up. today was day 3 of CIO and surprisingly he didn't cry at all  thing is he's staying with MIL instead of my mum in the end tomorrow night (d and e staying with my mum instead) and MIL will not let him CIO so i hope that things are not awful on saturday night after i get him back! :dohh:

well i am soooooooo glad it is friday tomorrow. i had an awful day at work and then went to town and trawled round the shops trying to find a dress for the retirement do tomorrow. i was just going to wear jeans but everyone else is wearing dresses. most of the stuff was too tight fitting or short though. in the end though i found a bargain in monsoon reduced from £50 to £15  i'm just hoping it's not too plain and boring as it's knee length and just normal material, green at the top with a black wrap over skirt and a blue sash/belt. i am going to dress it up with heels (i hope i can squish me feet into them! :haha: ) at least it's the sort of dress i can use again.

sarah - longleat is supposed to be really nice. i studied in Bath and always wanted to go but never made it. think the pubs and clubs had a greater appeal then

Ooh Sarah, Longleat is great! Bet Oliver will love it! Plus trains are always a winner! Hah, if you end up with a free day you should come over to Bristol and meet the baby! ;)

Maybe, your dress sounds lovely! :)

Thanks everyone, don't mind me feeling sorry for myself, i'm sure i'll be ok. Wish i could work out what's making it worse, but its hard to say, its sooo much worse after i've been lying down or sitting down for any length of time, but i can't walk about all day, because that hurts too after a while :dohh: OH has inflated my exercise ball this evening, i imagine sitting on that will help. Roh is going to think its the best thing ever though! :haha:

I flipping love my doctor though, i finally got to see my actual named doctor today, its the first time in, hmm about 8 years of being at the surgery that i've actually seen him  He's the best, i'm going to insist to see him everytime! I only really went as Roh has a funny rash, which i thought was impetigo as its going round at playgroup. Turns out its a coincidence, and its just an eczema flair up Anyway, he checked Roh out and i asked for more Gaviscon () and he immediately said "you look in pain" and checked my pelvis etc. I was planning to ask him about it, but it was nice to see he was checking. He also then looked at my OH and said, "is your eczema bothering you?" and pointed at OH's hands, which as usual he had halfway up his sleeves to hide them. Eagle eyed my doctor is! He had a look and said that OH's hands are actually infected and need treating (he drives me nuts itching constantly and complaining, but never doing anything about it at all, his hands are awful, all cracked and bleeding most the time, and he just puts a bit of moisturiser on now and then and ignores it) so hurrah, OH finally has some anti-biotic cream and proper moisturiser. If this sorts his hands out i swear i'm sending my doctor a fruit basket or something!!! So, very successful doctors trip, everyone got fixed up
