Moms of April/May/June 2010 babies thread! :)

Emera - what a nightmare, I don't know what the gtt entails, but fingers crossed they come around and let you have a home birth xx Wow , late scans do sound fab xx

Mork - good luck today!

Sarah - that's so funny, when buttons are mentioned I immediately think chocolate. In fact I mostly think chocolate whatever lol. Is it worth talking to Steve?? Even though we spend evenings together they don't really feel that way, the weekend nights we do make an effort though. I won't do jobs and we try and find something to watch together - romantic ha ha!! Our days off together have been disasterous recently though. More toddler groups sounds great.

Maybe - that's good of Dan to at least do something hun, really hope he keeps it up.

I've been up since 5 am my friend text as her two week old was rushed into hospital unable to breath, having a reaction to antibiotics. Really scary, then Will was up at 5:30 urghhhhh. I'm shattered. Beds stripped, colouredload on and breakfast done though.

We have swimming today and I think the in laws might come and watch. Then a food shop later as it's pay day. The fun never ends!!

Hope you all have a good day, can't wait to hear about the scan mork xx

Good luck with the scan today Mork!

Emera good luck with your midwife chat :)

LC I hope your friends baby is okay! So scarey! at the buttons! I am the other way around, I have a button obsession. My MIL once told me that they had 'little packets of buttons' in a shop in town for 5p - its one of those shops that sells everything so I presumed it was my kind of buttons and looked alllllll over the store until I found the cadburys buttons for 5p  I was SO dissapointed, but not for long - choccy buttons for 5p cheered me up

I'm feeling a bit better this morning. It just gets me down when I've looked forward to spending some time with Steve just on our own and then he's sat in the kitchen with PCT and I end up sat by myself. I'm okay though, it just gets to me sometimes, but it sounds like I'm not the only one :dohh:

OMG what a day, had a fab swimming session with Will then out for lunch with the inlaws Will was a little superstar. Then we went to sainsbury to do the food shopping, well Will had had enough by then and was being typically 21 months not wanting to sit in the seat. So he was crying, but on and off and would and did calm down. Some woman was stood next to me saying "shut up, shut up, shut up". I've been up since 5 am and it was too much. I politely said "That's really not helping, thank you" to which she replied "you mothers don't talk to your children....talk to him" I asked her who made her the expert and she said " she had four very happy children" I was so fuming!!!!!! and still am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talking to him was actually making it worse arghhhhhh.

Other shoppers came up to me and said well done, made me feel slightly better.

Thankfully my friend is home with her baby, he's allergic to penicillin, poor things xx

LC I would probably have punched her! If she had 4 happy children how did she achieve that, by telling them to shut up repeatedly? :grr: People should just learn to be a bit more polite! If she was such an expert she'd have said something more like "aww, had enough now has he?" Which whilst unhelpful would have at least been accurate! :dohh:

Wow LC you did so well to handle that woman like you did! I would have gone crazy! I think saying nothing is far better that saying 'shut up shut up' :grr: Stupid cow!!!!!! I'm mad for you :haha:

Relax in the knowledge though that you were doing the best thing - Oliver gets like that too and if I ignore him he gets over it far quicker than if I talk to him. Its not like he was crying because you were ignoring him.

There is no way her kids are happy when she has an attitude like that.

I hope you come across her dropping litter or something one day when you're at work :haha:

Well Oliver and I have had a nice quiet day - lots of playing, he's fast asleep now :) I got quite a bit of house work done too which is always nice - things take so much longer to do with a little helper though!. Guess who turned up as I was getting Oliver ready for bed? Steve was about to have a soak in the bath because his back is still bothering him so he wasn't too impressed. Steve's working at 11pm, so I guess that's me sitting on my own again :hissy: Oh well, Steve at least looked a bit sorry about it tonight. More because of his bath I think :haha: And I'm going to treat myself and put my feet up with some sewing and some buttons :haha:

Thanks for your posts, I'm so tired, I'm still fuming and annoyed I didn't come up with something better to say. You're right how could she ever have raised well rounded kids when she thinks it's ok to tell a 21 month old to shut up, it's appalling.

I feel so tired just like I did in the first three months, sick tired, so I'm off to bed lol.

Sarah, glad Steve looked slightly put out at your house guest, quite funny really. Enjoy your buttons, maybe you could match them real buttons for chocolate. I went and ate a whole packet of oreos as they were half price and the lady was so rude. I tell you what I'd love to meet her at work, bet she'd be a nightmare to deal with lol xx

I'm working lates this weekend, supposed to be until midnight but I'm going to bail out and ask not to work past 10 pm, which I'm allowed to do as I'm preggers. Although the way I'm going even that'll be a struggle, my Mum is here over the weekend and I think she'll let me have a lay in x

Hope you all have a nice evening xxx

LC - :hugs: I strongly suggest early mat leave! I have been knackered the whole time through this pregnancy, and now its a real struggle, but going on mat leave at 30 weeks made the last couple of months at least doable! Even though i was only working 3 days a week it was tiring me out so much that my one day off with OH i was spending in bed recovering. I would just about feel ok to take Roh out on the friday, and then Saturday and Sunday i was always thinking, better not do too much or i'll be knackered for work on Monday :dohh: So working "part time" was still taking over my whole life! Try to take it as easy as you can, and yes i know exactly how hard that is to achieve, but try anyway! :hugs:

Hey all,
OMG L-C i would have so said something far worse to that woman! What a rude ignorant %$&*(!!!!!! Well done on handling her so well xx
Well, we had the scan today and saw baby bouncing around :) however, baby would not go into the right positions for them to get all the measurements so i have to go back for another scan in just over a week (the earliest they could fit me in). Even if we had wanted to know, we wouldnt as baby would not even allow the sonographer a peek!!!! The sonographer was really lovely and talked us through the whole thing - a much better experience than last time :)
xxx

Take it easy LC!! When are you do to start mat leave? I think Emera is right re starting it early if you can :hugs: And def don't work past 10pm - just do what you have to :hugs:

Women like the silly moo in the supermarket are the same everywhere they go. My mum works in a Dr's surgery and when she worked on reception someone started working there who had worked in the chemist. When they compared notes about all the nightmare patients it was the exact same people! They just have that attitude and are the same everywhere. She probably has the same conversation with mums of crying babies everytime she goes out. Everyone she meets will think she's a silly old bag and yet she'll still think that its everyone else and not her :dohh: :haha:

I love the 'buttons for buttons' idea  I need to buy chocolate buttons now

Mork , glad you got to see your baby bouncing, but goodness how naughty! :haha: I nearly had to have my 20 week scan rescheduled too this time, but fortunately having a wee fixed the problem! Glad you had a good (nice) sonographer too, it makes such a difference! The last 2 i've had were so nice, the one at my 20 scan was a right grumpy old battleaxe though! :dohh:

Sarah - I don't really get why Steve didn't tell PCT to bog off if he was about to have a bath? Does he just turn up then? I thought he would at least have called to say he was coming? Just pitching up around someone's house you'd have to expect that sometimes you'll be told, thanks but no thanks see you another time?

Might have said already, but Roh worked out he could get out of bed yesterday :haha: I blame OH, he's so rubbish at putting him to bed! It made me giggle after his nap today though, as OH and i decided on having a snooze, i was dozing and just heard Roh's door bang open, then patter, patter, patter, patter of running down the hall, and then a giggle before getting jumped on! Quite sweet really. Just hoping it doesn't start happening in the middle of the night! Think i might fit a stair gate across our bedroom doorway so i can leave the door open, but Roh can't come diving in the bed once bumpy is here. She's likely to get trampled otherwise!

Mork I'm glad you had a nice scan, even though baby wasn't playing :haha: Another scan is always nice though!

Emera awwww how cute of Roh! But like you say maybe not in the middle of the night! :haha: You are so right about PCT - well Steve was having a shave, his phone rang and I think he was just about to say well I'm just going to get a bath etc but PCT was actually at our front door  He usually calls or texts first but not today. Well he called, but when he was already here  I think Steve feels sorry for him. His wife is quite difficult and is a lot like Steve's first wife in many respects, so I think Steve remembers how unhappy he was etc and feels sorry for him. And its nice he has a friend and stuff. Which is all fine to a point - but surely not at the cost of your own relationship? I don't know, fingers crossed there rotas clash for a few weeks so he can't come up as much :haha: :dohh: It would be nice if my own husband wanted to spend some time alone with me :dohh:

Did anyone else watch OBEM tonight? It was really good, the woman with the twins was so amazing! It was lovely this week :)

Has anyone else been watching 'Call the Midwife'? I'm SO enjoying it, its lovely when I find a series I really enjoy :) I'm really tempted to read the book now too.

Sarah I love call the midwife! :) its great. I watched OBEM my god the twins lady was amazing! I'd have been a lot less polite if some doctor had that much arm up me with no pain relief! I thought she was going to try and climb up the wall! she did sooo well though, amazing lady! I felt for the MW, it must feel like soo much pressure when that's your job to be all amazing and cool about giving birth. End of the day though its still giving birth even if you know exactly what's going on. In fact I'm sure it made it harder for her knowing so much of the technical stuff!

I'm watching masterchef in the bath currently on my laptop, posting from my phone! I must look a sight! :haha: Bath is going cold now though :(

 at bath posting Emera! You're right about the midwife, I'm sure knowing as much as they do makes it worse and there is a lot of pressure to do things 'well'. I think if she'd got her water birth she would have been fine, she changed so much when she realised she couldn't have her water birth and its difficult to get a really positive attitude back then. She did so well though!

I guess we should ger up :haha:

Ooh MW just called they are coming to do my home birth visit this morning!

Emera YAY! How did it go?

We have had a lovely day with my SIL, just drove home and Oliver is fast asleep so I'm parked outside Asda waiting for him to wake up so I can get a bit of shopping. I think I'll have to wake him up in a min though, all I've done today is drink tea, I need a wee soooooo bad :haha:

So Steve got home this morning at just after nine am, and guess who showed up at half nine? PCT :dohh: Steve usually goes to bed by 10am because he's up for work again at 5pm, but when I left just before 11am PCT was still there and showing no signs of leaving  I know I need to speak to Steve about it but he gets really defensive - or he did last time - like I was saying he couldn't have friends :dohh: That's sooooo not what I'm saying, but its getting more and more intrusive into his family life and I just don't think its appropriate. And its me who'll have to deal with Steve when he gets up and he's tired and grumpy :dohh: :dohh:

Eesh Sarah, you def need to speak to Steve! Maybe just say that PCT seems to be about A LOT and would it be ok if maybe they could arrange times to hang out rather than him coming over all the time? Just say you'dd lke to be able to plan some time together so it would help if you knew when Steve was busy socialising?

Home visit went great, I have another GTT in the morning. And then assuming thats clear I can stay at home as long as I don't have the baby in the next 24 hours an there are no complications, like merconium in the waters and that sort of thing :)

Woohoo Emera!!!! Good luck with the GTT.

Sarah: Sorry PCT is being a pain again :(

LC: I am horrified on your behalf! What a biatch!!!!

Mork: glad your scan went well! It's lovely seeing our babies, isn't it :) I have a 3D one on the 23rd. I can't wait :)

Emera that's great news! Woo hoo! Fingers crossed for a lovely chilled out home birth for you :)

Modo how are you doing?

I really do need to speak to Steve.....I'll have to think of a good way of doing it :dohh: The thing is that I'm pretty sure that Steve is perfectly aware that I'm not impressed or happy about it, but he never says sorry or look I'm know he's here too much and I'm going to start telling him we're busy etc. He just seems to think its okay for me to be unhappy about it if he acts kind of apologetic about it - even though he never says anything. :

Right, teas almost ready. I'm letting Steve sleep in while we eat. I'm too nice :haha:
