I am so sorry you are going through this but I know how you feel. I am not working and have nothing saved up so my OH is paying for everything. Thankfully my parents are letting us stay at the house but I think they are expecting a couple hundred dollars for rent plus we have all the baby stuff and car payments to pay for. I know my parents will help us out if we absolutly need it, but I also know that they want us to do everything on our own so we can learn how it is going to be. I still have no idea how we are going to pay for everything but I just have to trust that we will.

Do you live in the US? You should really look into WIC! It will help SO much right now by giving you money for food and when baby is born it pays for your babies food until their 5!

We're getting a lot of help from our parents, there's no way we'd be able to keep him if we weren't.

OH goes to school full time and works part time. We both still live with our parents. I'll be moving into his house once Finn is here, seeing as it's bigger. Hopefully OH's older brother will move out soon and then Finn can have his room as nursery.

Family is buying us all big items (car seat, stroller, crib) and we'll be getting the basics from everyone else at our baby shower as well. We're doing a wishing well, so we should get tons of diapers, wipes, and plain onesies. OH's parents have offered to help pay for things if we ever need it, but we should easily be able to pay for diapers and I plan on mostly making my own wipes (paper towels and a soap mixture suggested by my midwife). It'll be a lot cheaper. I plan on breastfeeding, so we'll save there. We also have a local pregnancy center who will give you diapers, wipes and formula if you need them.

Honestly, you don't need baby food. Buy rice cereal and then make your own mashes. Buy a cheap food processor, boil fruits and vegetables down until they're super soft and then pop them in the processor. Ta-dah, baby food! It's so much cheaper.

ETA: We applied to WIC, but didn't qualify. If you live with parents they take in their income as well as yours. If your baby is going on state insurance once he/she is here though, they'll automatically qualify and you'll be able to get food for them. That's what we're doing.

Thanks! and Vinteenage thank you, I didn't even think of a lot of that stuff. I was going to apply for WIC but I probably wont qualify since I am with my parents. So now I know to look more into it.

Whoa, wait. What? Daphne, you didn't get on WIC? We both live with my parents and they only counted what my OH was making, not my parents? That's so weird! Maybe it varies by state?

It shouldn't vary by state, we asked her. That's odd.
I had to bring in a pay stub from anyone who lives in the household, not just OH and I.

ETA: Burchy, I'd call your local WIC and find out. Are you putting her on state insurance? It's definitely worth looking into then, since she'll definitely qualify and you'll get help!

I have no idea what I am doing about insurance yet. If my OH gets his soon I will put her on that but if not I don't know, but my mom is handling that since I am ******** when it comes to it. And I will probably call WIC within the month whenever me and my mom both have time to discuss it. Thanks for the advice.

Ahh! That's so weird! She just told me to bring in my drivers license, a piece of mail stating where I lived, and OH's pay stub! This was just yesterday and I got approved... So strange...

Since you live in the US there are numerous programs that can help you out especially being a young mom. There's WIC, Medicaid, childcare expenses, everything! You just have to know how to find them!! I know here where I live in my city, you can get help paying for your child care expenses, utility bills, TANF which gives you like $200/month to pay for anything! and WIC, although imo right now WIC isn't that helpful, because milk and eggs aren't THAT expensive, but you can get baby food and formula for free if you don't BF. But yeah babies are definitely expensive! I didn't realize how much money Kenny costs either, it's insane!
