Monthly exercise thread!

Aww Katie :( You pushed yourself too much yesterday maybe? Did you have enough puff to do the warm down?

Just done a quick 30 (well 15 warm up which got me hot and sweaty tmi lol!) and 15 minutes aerobics. Wasnt going to do any today and take rafwifes advice about rest days but my 2 year old was asking to "do deeweedee" (do dvd) so I figured a quick 15 won't hurt (considering that's likely to be my movement for the entire day )

Just remember to always cool down girls. :) It's so important as it not only returns your pulse to rest in a slow and controlled way but it also returns the muscles to resting length as they stretch with exercise and if they aren't returned to the correct length properly then you put a lot of stress on them, and are more prone to injury and they can stay elongated.

What would you say is the best way to do a warm down/cool down rafwife?

It depends what exercise you've done really and what muscles you've used. Static stretches are always good though, where you focus on what muscles you've used and hold a position for 10-30 seconds.

If you've been running or cycling, which uses a lot of leg muscles then it would be good to do hamstring stretch, gluteal stretch, calf stretch, kneeling hip flexor and quadriceps stretch.

If you have used your arms, then you would look at doing bicep stretch, posterior deltoid stretch and tricep stretch

If you've used your chest muscles, you could do standing pectoral stretch, latissimus dorsi stretch and pectoral stretch

If you google these stretches then you can see diagrams :)

I've woken up today IN AGONY. I can barely walk!
Don't push yourself. Last month I was pushing so hard I could barely walk and that's when I hurt myself. It put me out of the picture for weeks. It's better to take it easy than hurt yourself. You end up getting more workouts than if you hurt yourself and have to quit. Take a hot bath, use some muscle rub. Wrap what hurts with an ace bandage.

If you ladies every want to change your goals early on it's totally ok too.

I haven`t started anything yet girls, I am at work and I am planning to do a workout DVD tonight.
But I have walked a lot again today and this morning I have been running for the bus.

Well, so far today I've done 18 minutes, and my legs were burning like crazy, so I had to jump off! I plan on going back on once the baby goes to bed though! :)

You can always count your walks toward your time. It's a personal goal, so whatever you feel counts as exercise is exercise.

I count my 40 min bike ride to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I've done 33 minutes (and 2 hours walking around Asda).

we're all doing well ladies

I have done 30 minutes workout at home today and my thighs are killing me, I`m hoping I will be able to walk tomorrow.

Tomorrow my aim is to go gym for an hour.

And wednesday another 30 mins DVD workout.

We`re doing very well indeed... I love this thread!!!! :)

I cant help but mention, just by looking at your avatar picture, you already look fabulous! I know everyone should work out, even fit people, but you look great.

Did 410 Calories today. I wanted to stop at 300 but for some reason I felt like I needed to go 100 over like yesterday. I'm always competing with the me of yesterday. :dohh:

A quick 30 minutes done first thing this morning!
I'm really getting in to it I think.
This morning after feeding LO at 6am, instead of going back to bed I -wanted- to stay up and have some time to exercise in peace on my own!

Cor well done Jo! :)

I think I've really messed my legs up :( I got up this morning and I can't walk! My calf muscles are killing me!

Im keeping a tally on my ipod. When do we say if we managed our goal or not?

Hah, I needed the motivation too!
Every sunday we report our total for the week and I subtract it from your total monthly goal.

I'm really worried you have hurt yourself. :nope:
Try and just do some stretching. nothing high impact. Rest, if you keep hurting yourself it will get works. Last month I worked out on injured knees and it put me out of business for weeks. :hugs:

Stretching totally counts as working out. Especially if you are still doing it while you hurt.
