Over 30 and Fabulous!

I like Rosa's suggestion of Emily. I think people would forever mispronounce Emme, unfortunately. A really pretty name though! I also like Emma and Olivia. Another pretty name is Amelia. It's so hard picking a name. I was set on Abigail, but I hate that it's in the top 10.

I love Emme and if you're concerned about whether or not it sounds professional you could always throw in a very professional-sounding middle name and then when she grows up she has the choice to switch to using that for professional purposes.
Personally I don't think that name would be professionally problematic but that's just my random opinion.

I think emme sounds lovely. I like Ready's suggestion. I don't think the name would be a problem professionally but then Aussies have a habit of automatically shortening names when speaking to someone even in professional settings- happens to me all the time and I happen to hate the femmine shortening of my name.

The beach sounds lovely mrsmax.

Well I can't say a lot lol as we've got Penny which really should be short for Penelope but there was no way we were calling her that. I think with her name it's so cute baby & little girl, not good as a teenager :nope: but fine as an adult, in fact the only Penny's I've ever heard of were grown women... The first time I heard the name Emme it was spelt Emmie & I wasn't that keen, but now I think it's so pretty! I do prefer the spelling Emmie to Emme or Emmy, and I do think Emme would be mispronounced...Emily as someone suggested is also lovely & one I would consider for future children. Olivia I like but it's so popular in UK & agree with Mrsmax it's quite a posh name but this is good, far rather a posh name than a trailer trash name (in the uk they tend to be known as chavs!) I know what rosa is saying about E ending names but I still love them... Penny was going to be Scarlett & now I'm so pleased we didn't go for that, & you know I don't think she even looks like a Scarlett now! :haha: it's a toughie soleil, penny didn't have a name until a few days old!

Mrsmax glad you're enjoying the sun! I am too but it's hard to sunbathe with a baby that needs to be kept out of the sun! I get most of my tan from walking the dog with penny in the pram under the shade.

I've got DH off this week, yay for family time! :happydance:

x

Just reading a book (crappy girlie novel - "the Orient Express" by veronica henry) and one of the lead characters is Emmie ;) i do think this is a better spelling and less likely to get mispelled.

Back from hols :( was amazing. Dh and I had some really nice couple time too when E went to bed. We didnt put the TV on once in the evening - just ate nice food, drank wine and talked. We also had two beach BBQ's, which did mean E going to bed late but she slept one of the evening in the beach tent shelter. Such lovely family time :)

Picking up toys and a baby monitor from toy library today, yay. Heatwave continues in Uk so loving being on maternity leave in the sununshine :happydance:

I think we might have stolen your weather LOL. The rainy drizzly weather continues - we still have green grass when normally by now it is going brown due to dry weather and frosts.

First visit to daycare today - 4hrs just to see how she coped. Then she is going half days 3 days next week before going full days the week after as I am back at work 3 days a week then. Eeekkk how did July get here so quickly. I think she had fun as she looks pretty happy in the photos I got given and it wore her out too as she fell asleep in the car going home. My mum took me to lunch today to distract me. I didn't cry till I got to mum's house but dropping her off was hard.

@everyone :flower: Hi there! I miss you all. Sorry I've been a little MIA lately.

Work is kicking my butt right now. I have been working long hours. Still I am swamped with charts to update.

Then there's the "might as well be back in college" summer social calendar that seems to pop up every year. https://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-rolleyes002.gif
There's pressure to do everything we're invited to and to get all our travel time in now. Exhausting to say the least.

Other than that life is grand!

AFM in response to@MrsPttc & MrsMax questions. Dh and I have found a new clinic. One that we feel will better serve our needs because it has experience working with a more diverse set of needs.
We have an appointment in two weeks. DH's already been in for a consultation. He absolutely LOVES the male factor dr. He also recommended vits which our other doctors had not. And guess what? DH actually went out on his own and got them! I wanted so bad to say "Um didn't I tell you....they would help" But I didn't want to discourage progress.
Thanks for checking in. :hugs:

@Soleil I have been coming across more and more Emme's. Actually one was Emme', I believe, which sounds like Em-may. But I think that counts. It is a unique yet classy name. I like it. I think it will increase in popularity as time goes on especially with celebrity child Emme (daughter of JLO and Marc Anthony) coming more so in the public view.
Most importantly the meaning is beautiful. Dh I have discussed if we have a girl we will probably go with a symbolic name too.

So my vote is yes. I also like Emme as a spelling. Emmie (spelling) would solidify the nickname theory in my opinion. Maybe I am biased because I am person with a pretty straight forward name who still gets misspellings and people calling me other names even when I tell them my name clearly. I don't know. Mistakes are par for the course unless you go with one of the traditional names.

I am not a fan of Olivia. I've always felt it was old fashioned. However, I am not sure if I've ever known an Olivia in person to help me redefine the name. Maybe that's it.
However, I say, whatever you and DH choose it will be the right name for your little girl. I believe naming is very important but it's all about how the child feels about the name. If she loves it she'll carry it well one way or another if not vice versa. You can tell her why you named her (whatever name) attach positive meaning to it and hope for the best.
:)

@ MrsMax glad you had quality time with DH at the beach. Sounds wonderful. Keep cool. It's burning up here too. Trying not to rush the summer along, but I do prefer cooler weather. Did you finish the book? Is it a recommend?

@MrsPttc glad you had quality time with your hubby as well.

@MsMJMouse I forgot you guys have winter when we have summer and vice versa. Is it warm during the Christmas/December Holiday season? If so that is so cool.

@Hakuna, Ready and Rosa :hugs::flower: :hi:

Hope all the :baby: and :cloud9: are doing well!

Thanks for the update RP. The new clinic sounds very promising!!

You know, I went away for just under two weeks, all set in my mind that Emme wasn't such a hot idea. Now I come back and am rethinking this all again. My mom thinks Olivia sounds old-fashioned and one of my SIL's hates it ("please, please don't call her that!"). Add to that that the people where I come from say "O-livia" [they pronounce the O like an O, instead of a more gentle "Ah/Uh-livia], and I just don't know what to do. We have now reverted to calling her "Baby Girl." :dohh: I am all for waiting, as MrsPTTC did when Penny was born, to decide on what to call her, but DH doesn't like that idea at all. Argh.

I've even tried to come up with first names that begin with an M and a middle name that begins with an E, so I can still call her "Emi/Emme/Emmie." I've toyed with Myka [pronounced like Micah]. I just fear it is too boyish and too harsh. DH thinks it sounds too strong, too. Maybe I'll just buy a darn name book. I feel like it shouldn't be this hard to find a name!

Anyway...

RegalPeas - I swear by FertilAid for making DH's motility and count better. Check it out. And you definitely did the right thing by not doing an "I told you so" to your DH. Remember, we must let them think they come up with ideas by themselves [or through the influence of others in your DH's case] so that we do not come across as "nagging" :winkwink: and so that they will have more follow-through! Sending you all the best vibes for success at this clinic.

MsJMouse - I can't imagine those "first times" (vaccinations, dropping them off to daycare, etc) that make you want to cry. :hugs: Tell yourself that you're doing her a world of good and that she will be a lovely, sociable child.

Mrsmax - you can "borrow" a baby monitor from the library?! I need to check into that. So glad that you had some quality R&R. It sounds like you really did have a good time!

MrsPTTC - when you were trying to figure out what Penny's name would be after she was born, was it only a choice between Scarlett and Penny, or did you have a longer list?

A general thanks - to ALL of you for your feedback on Baby Girl Breeze's name. Since we are all located in different places, I think that I got a diverse and solid set of opinions on the matter. If you have thoughts on Myka, I am all eyes :haha:

Regal - the new clinic sounds promising. Glad to hear DH is listening to their advice.

It is usually quite hot at Christmas - somewhere in the mid 30s (not sure what that converts to in F) with high humidity. Last Christmas we had lunch at my sister's house and I spent the afternoon sitting on the edge of her pool with my legs in the water as the heat had made my legs turn into cankles!! Being really pregnant then was not fun - our A/C got a work out last summer.

Bizarrely all the christmas songs are about snow etc - that just seems so odd. Yet they are the songs we all get taught even though it doesn't snow here at Christmas.

Soliel - Does Myka have a nice meaning?? I think any name has the possibility of being pronounced incorrectly - even if it is the most traditional name with no funky spelling. I wouldn't have thought there were too many ways to spell Amelia but I have been asked if it was spelt traditionally so there must be other ways to spell her name.

I have heard of lots of people have a definite name picked out before their baby was born however when the baby arrived they decided the name they had picked was not right for the baby.

Hmmm - I'm not sure about Myka...but I know names are personal choices and meanings are just as important to me as the name - eg Eva = Life

MsJ - I find it soooo funny that it snows at Christmas in Oz. I always wondered if you sing the same songs as us :)

Eva is 6 month today

My niece is Amelia and it is spelt with two "l"s but I prefer your traditional spelling.

Happy 6 months Eva!!

Yeah gotta laugh when we all start singing "i'm dreaming of a white christmas, just like the ones I used to know" considering none of my family have ever seen a white christmas!! :haha: I had never seen snow until we went to NZ in 2008 (I was 28).

Regal thanks for the update & GL with the new clinic! FX'd the vits help!

Mrsmax I'm glad you had a great holiday. We might get away on a cheap caravan holiday in autumn but we'll see! You had fabulous weather for your hols

MsJ good luck with Amelia's daycare!

Soleil, wow you have a good memory about me! :winkwink: I had a list of names but DH didn't like most of them except Scarlett. That was the only name we had up until she was born as DH thought I didn't like his idea of Penny (I told him before we were even pregnant I hated it! :haha:) we mentioned Amber at one point but changed our minds well before labour.
I'm not sure about Myka either... but then US &UK names differ quite a bit. In the US I know you obviously still like traditional names (Olivia, Jack) but I think the modern names are pretty popular too. The UK seems to be accepting more modern names every year & they're getting more popular (Jackson, Tyler, Addison for example) Perhaps Myka is a popular name in the US? At the end of the day it's whatever you & dh like, don't listen to your SIL who said they hated Olivia, it's amazing the names people get used to once the baby is here! I was a bit concerned what people thought of Penny as its no longer popular over here (partly why we went for it) but everyone's either been saying how lovely it is or has not said anything at all which I'd much prefer if they didn't like it!

I failed the one hour glucose test and now have to go back and do the three hour, post-fasting, glucose tolerance test. :nope: I don't understand why the glucose drink has to have food colouring in it! How ridiculous is that?! I also don't like the idea of flooding baby girl's system with 100 g (mg?) of a sugary drink. But I need to change my diet quickly, if I do have gestational diabetes. I've always thought that I ate well, but the yogurts I eat are high in sugar; I eat a lot of sandwiches [bread]... I wish there were some other way that I could be tested for gestational diabetes than have to drink that crap on an empty stomach.

Did any of you gals fail the one-hour and pass the three-hour test?
Thinking about going to the lab on Sunday to do the test.

I totally failed the one hour and passed the three hour. My sil, a midwife, says the one hour is very unreliable. It's nothing you've done and there is nothing you can do to "pass" the test. I actually enjoyed the drink. :haha: the three hour drink made me nauseous tho. I guess it's more sugary. Good luck. I hope it goes well!

Can't help you on the test front SB as never had one but hope you ace your next one! :hugs: x

Good luck with the 3hr test Soliel. I have heard a few people fail the one hour test only to pass the 3hr one with no probs.

It was Amelia's first full day at daycare yesterday. She did really well. No tears on dropoff (from her anyway LOL) and big smiles for daddy when he picked her up. No smiles for a couple of hours for mum though once she got home. Horrible mum left her at daycare!! But she would get upset if I walked out of eyesight once she got home. Could be an interesting day today. Can't believe I'm back at work - where did the last 7months go?????

I failed the one hour and the 3 hour...by barely a few points. I was very borderline and never had to go on medication. It sounded a lot scarier than it actually was. I hope you pass but if for some reason you don't, I'm here if you need to talk.

And you're right, the drink is the worst. Be sure to have a snack at the conclusion of the 3 hour test. It's not a horrible test but you might feel a bit weak, shaky, or dizzy after. Bring stuff to stay busy, phone, book, etc.

Hugs!! :hugs:

SB - :hugs: We don't do that test routinely in the UK so I could have failed it for all I know if we had one. I hope all goes well with the next one - pregnancy is hard after LTTC!!

MsJ well done to A on coping with daycare. I am dreading dropping E off, but luckily have a couple more months to go. Have you gone back fulltime? E gets grumpy and ignores me when I do stuff like that - DH went to a stag do this weekend and we dropped him off on Friday afternoon and she wouldnt even look at me until bedtime - seriosuly! She was so grumoy like I had made daddy leave or something!! They are so funny arent they?!!

E is doing well - her crawling is getting faster and she sits really well now, She has started to pull up on furniture now, but isnt really strong enough. It is definitely harder now I cant relax for a second as she always seems to be in danger of banging her head etc. Baby groups are now a real bonus as they are well and truely baby proofed!

Rosa - when you back to work?

Hkuna - hoping pregnancy going well.

MrsP - a caravan holiday sounds fun - I love camping.

Thanks Max! Sounds like E is really on the go!

I have a checkup today, hopefully all measures well and I can hear the HB.
