PCOS and TTC #1

Hello ladies... welll im getting pretty excited.. i need to know what you think of this??

OPK4-2-15.jpg

I have never had one this dark before... Feeling super excited!

Hopefully is right. Make time for yourself and relaxation. I like to light candles and have a bubble bath with a good book. I do that often. Exercise is awesome for helping pull you out of depression/anxiety because of the endorphins. I know it's a pain in the butt to get started but you feel all kinds of wonderful after.

Your opk looks like your surge could be getting closer!

Well shortcakes looks like your getting close to ovulation... Not quite as dark as the control line yet but I imagine it will be soon! I guess take it that you might ovulate in the next few days and therefore get BD'ing :)

Thanks guys for the advice!!! i know i need to just calm down.. reading does help (baths freak me out!!)

I am hoping this is my surge... bd'ing is going down!!! EEKKK!!!

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was like 21 so I've known I have it for a long time. The only time I have regular cycles (or a period) is when I'm on birth control. I'm "morbidly obese" according to doctors but there's really nothing I can do about that. I have a thyroid disorder and PCOS and I'm just honestly....fat. It's who I am. I'm active and I eat very well but I just can't lose weight. I lost about 100 lbs with surgery (pretty much gained back now) and still no period without BC so if your doctor tells you it's your weight, they could be wrong. Some women just have PCOS no matter their size. I think I developed it when I was a teenager judging by my periods at that time. Weight is definitely a consideration but don't let your doctor tell you that losing weight will fix it. It does happen obviously but not always. I've been very fortunate with my doctors but if I had one tell me, well you just need to lose weight, I think I'd ask them what treatment they provide thin women with PCOS. Or I'd leave and never come back.

Anyway, we've been kind of not preventing since we got married in September but because of my husband's school schedule and some health issues for both of us, we haven't been BDing a lot. I think we're about ready to actually start trying and so maybe I'll try Vitex! I've even been on Metformin and that didn't work either. It just made me feel sick all the time.

I love hearing these success stories too! It gives me so much hope!! :happydance:

I wish you luck babysquash! It sounds kind you have a good handle on your situation and aren't afraid to speak up at the Dr, that's awesome! :)

Babysquash... thanks so much for telling your story...i like your guts!!! I agree... Ive tried and tried to lose weight.. and have succeeded and just gain back..

I hope you luck and so far i am digging the Vitex.. it really is doing what it should be doing and making me ovulate according to the test above (almost there)!!

Keep us updated and join our little group.. i am finding these girls very comforting lately.

So far for treatment with thin PCOS... My doctor pretty much told me we would fix it. Take some pills and/or injections to get pregnant. Have baby, repeat when you want another one :s

Thank you! :) I'll test April 8th if AF doesn't show before then. Any earlier and it could be a fake positive because if the Ovidrel trigger

:happydance: that's less than a week away!! I've already lived vicariously through a couple other ladies who've gotten their BFPs since I've joined these boards, it's your turn now Danna, FX! :dust:

Aww thanks! I know what you mean I've seen 6 bfps in the other thread I'm in since starting TTC... But I hope it's our turn! No reasons we can't have double and tripple BFPs! Haha :)

Yay Danna!!! My fingers are crossed!!!!!

So i got a definite postive OPK last night and this morning. So its definitely going to be a busy weekend.:winkwink:

Then on to the wait....

Has anyone else heard of eating pinapple after ovulation (along with its core)??? Thinking of trying it.

Heyyy!! Can I join you ladies?

I have had irregular cycles for as long as I can remember. I was put on BC to regulate them as a teenager and continued until about 5 years ago. My old obgyn made me feel silly when I asked questions about missing my af's so I never felt comfortable asking if something was wrong.
I have been with my hubby for 5 years this coming June and we have never used anything to prevent pregnancy so I knew something wasn't right. Then last year we decided to get serious about trying so I started tracking then in September I started using OPK's and temping. I got a new obgyn who actually listened to my concerns and did some testing. Due to high DHEA she recommended I see an endocrinologist. I went to the endocrinologist back in February who did a whole lot more testing and found out that I have PCOS. He put me on metformin about 2 weeks back. So far I haven't had too many side effects and I did get af a week or so after taking it. I am curious to see if it helps my cycle. We also made an appointment with a fertility specialist to get hubby checked out as well. It has been very surreal to find out that I have PCOS and not many people even know what it is, let alone know what I am going through to get support so it would be lovely to have some people who understand what we are going through. Never in a million years think did I think that having a baby would be so hard, but I am determined to do what I can.

shortcakes- I have heard of it, but have never tried it. If you like pineapple then it couldn't hurt to try! :)

Welcome Jules, it's rotten having long cycles I have heard fantastic things about metformin in terms of regulating your cycles so fx that it works for you, I would love them to give me metformin as I think it could help me a bunch :) but my DR is mean and won't prescribe me anything...
So looks like Veryblue, Danna and shortcakes are all in the tww! Fx for you all, let's hope we start seeing some BFP's

Unfortunately it doesn't look like I will be ovulating anytime soon. Not much change in cm and what is there is still creamy, I shall keep my fingers crossed and hope that it changes soon

Welcome Jules!!!!!

I actually HATE pineapple.. but i am willing to try anything at this point.

Hope... my fingers are crossed for you.... have you ever thought of taking supplements on your own??? I take vitex, NAC and Inositol and this is my first month on all 3 and it looks like im on track.

Thanks!!!

Hopefully- It took me a lot of time and some different doctors until I found someone willing to help me. It's sad how hard it is to find help with fertility issues. Have you ever been to an endocrynologist? He is the one that put me on the metformin, though he isn't able to prescribe fertility medication like clomid.

Shortcakes- I tried vitex for quite a while..it helped then I went off. I tried again for a few months and it didn't help at all. I am going to try the doctors way and if I have no luck I may go back to trying a more hollistic approach.

Sucks you hate pineapple..i love the stuff! lol I am sure it won't hurt anything to try! :)

Welcome Jules. It really is sad how a lot of medical professionals know little of PCOS and shove birth control pills at you (when you're ttc none-the-less!), or totally dismiss you. I wish I'd been wiser or had more courage in my 20's!

Yay shortcakes! So happy you're ovulating soon! Have a fun time this weekend! ;) ;) hehe

HopefullyOpto, I'm sending warm wishes your way for ovulation to happen soon. I'm keeping all you ladies in my thoughts and prayers for our BFPs to happen soon. All our hearts desire and ache for our unborn babies that we've been dreaming of for so long. I just feel like at least one of us needs a positive result this month!

I LOVE pineapple, and actually have one cut up in the fridge right now. I don't have the core though. Maybe I'll buy another tomorrow. Hey if it helps I'll do it.

Hope you all are enjoying Good Friday/Easter weekend so far! :)
