Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Lisa, it's nice you are caring for your sister and worried for her.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about rh- (maybe someone else in here has more info?) but in general I would trust the consultant over the gp as they are after all the specialist.
I hope all goes well for your sister this time :hugs:

Thanks pepitas. Yes I see what you mean. I just think it strange that both times were around the 12 week mark (she had scans the second time too and all was fine) - the chances must be miminal without there being an actual problem, if you get me.

xx

Lisa all my losses have been at about the 11-12 weeks too.... my is assumed to be due to my translocated chromosome... has she has karotyping testing done?

Congratulations 9babies. Will keep my Fx'd for you.
Pip, how is everything going? x

9 babies fxd xxxx
Afm I'm cd 13 of a natural cycle got my appointment at St Marys on 18th so 9 days!! V nervous unsure of what to expect!! Any tips?? Xx

Davies, when I went I had to send them a questionnaire in advance giving details of my medical and pregnancy history. My first appointment was private until my NHS referral came through. If you're on the NHS, definitely take something to keep you occupied. I had to have a scan first and with all the waiting for that, the report and then seeing the consultant I was there for hours! Thankfully, I had lambs with me and we knitted and chatted :D

My next appointment was much faster so I think it's the first time you enter the machine that takes so long.

Be prepared to give blood as they may want to repeat tests that you have already had and they run their own test on their TEG machine.

You are in good hands there. Fingers crossed they can help you fxfxfx

Hi all..
Posting here for my sis. She had 3 mc, the last 2 were both at 11.5 weeks. She has had tests etc, and the only thing they found is that she is rhesus neg and didnt have a shot after her 2nd mc (when she had to have a d&c).

Has anyone had any experience of this? Cos the advice has been mixed. Her gp told her that without the shot, she wouldnt get past 1st tri, but she saw a consultant and he said it was nothing to do with it.

Also, I think she may be pg again. I am so scared for her. She wont say anything to anyone yet, but all the signs are there. I go to bed every night praying for her.
:(

Hi, I'm rh- and never had any anti d after my miscarriages but then they were earlier than your sister's and I didn't have a d&c. Could they not test her blood to see if she has antibodies? That way they'd know if she needed the anti d to prevent a problem.

I think the advice on whether to have anti d post miscarriage is mixed. I read a poster presentation at work on it and their take on it was anti d might be necessary if you had a post 12 weeks miscarriage and if you had a d&c.

Davies good luck at your appt. I have mine at St Helliersfirst week in Nov, so I know the nerves you are feeling.

Rabbittchild, how are you?

Pip, have the steroid sides settled down?

I'm great thanks LeeC, just impatient to meet my LO at long last and struggling to walk at the moment as it hurts but very grateful to have got this far :D

Lee, I'm not ravenous and buzzing anymore but I do think I've gone DOWN one or two cup sizes whilst putting on a little weight and developing an extra layer of puffiness everywhere else

Will be thinking of your walk this week!

Petit thank u for heads up!! An leec good luck Hun!! Will let u no how we get on!! Not looking forward to the wait petit I'm so impatient! An my hubby is even more so! I'm nhs to! Is there parking around there? X

There is no parking around there davies so I seriously advise you get the train to paddington as it's right next door.

Ok lovely thanks Lamb so its walking distance from paddington? xx

Yes. you literally come out of the exit opposite platform 11(ish) walk up the ramp and then turn immediately left. St Mary's is right in front of you. I won't direct you in to the clinic as it is a NIGHTMARE to find, so make sure you have plenty of time to ask people!

DAVIES - i get the tube there, its literally 1 minute walk from the station. There are maps at every entrance to the hospital, you need to go to the second floor of Winston Churchill wing.

Take magazines and snacks and drinks, i was there today and i waited exactly 3 hours to be seen, but its not always that bad, usually only one hour wait, but today they were short one doctor.

They will probably take bloods at your first appointment and depending on what they think your issue is you may need to come back for follow up bloods in 6 weeks so make sure you know what youre doing on a tuesday and wednesday (RMC open days) 6 weeks after your appointment as you will be required to book your next appointment upon leaving.

the clinic is high in demand so dont count on being able to call up to reschdule. First of all you'd be lucky to get someone on the phone and if you did theyre usually booked solid weeks in advance.

Theyre very good, my friend had several m/cs and after seeing Mr Raj Rai there her next pregnancy ended with the birth if a beautiful little girl.

Good luck xxx

Thank you so much ladies, im very nervous but also very excited my letter said I will have a scan blood tests an see a consultant then have repeat tests 6 weeks later!! We maybe being dropped off did ur hubby's go with you to your first appointments? Also I have had a number of tests at my local hospital after my 3rd mc did you have that? I just wondered if they will repeat the tests? Sorry for 50 million questions!! Xx

Davies, it is good if you can take your DH with you, if only for the company ;)
Try and get copies of any blood tests that were done at your local hospital and take them with you. They may repeat some tests (such as lupus) but probably not the genetic ones.

Petit i have done that i sent them with the questionnaire thingy off to st marys and i kept a copy of them all for myself to take with me to!! I would love to go tues get a diagnosis an say i can try next month i would love to be preg for xmas!! I no im prob just being unrealistic!! An i will have to repeat all my tests!! Do they give u an idea on the day of what they may think? x

Lol, I think it is standard procedure for them to spend the first appointment gathering information and deciding on what further tests to run. Then you go away, have the tests, not allowed to ttc.
At the second appointment they decide on your treatment programme and then you are ready to ttc.

Thank u hun! As long as I have light in that tunnel sumwhwre I will cope! X
