Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

SA Jenny - i haven't had a happy ending yet but i take prog suppositories 48 hours after ovulation/iui. i would make them put you on it if it's low.

afm: someone just bought 3 bags of baby clothes to the preg 24 year old here (w/her second) - i can't stop crying - keep thinking that my life can't end up so horrible that i will never get the chance to buy baby stuff and get to experience that part of life.

me 36 dh 34 fine 4 unexplained m/c's at 5-6 weeks (3 in last 17 months), no kids yet 3 rounds clomid 1 round follistim, 2 iui, hetero mthfr A1298C

Jenny, I have PCOS too and have taken progesterone when pregnant all 3 times. First two was from a couple of days past ovulation on medicated cycles and on natural cycle was from as soon as I got BFP..hadn't been trying so didn't know when ovulated. It hasn't helped me obviously but I shall continue to be put on them when I get pregnant as a precaution.

Hi all, I didn't realise this thread was here. I've been around a long time but rarely go exploring...just stick to my subscribed threads (mainly journals ath this stage!!):dohh:

I have a checkered history and it's very long and boring. Initial problems was PCOS and very irregular cycles. Have been through various ovulation inductions/IVF. I've gotten pregnant 3 times but still no babs.

June 2010: Pregnant from FSH injections and timed intercourse...m/c at 6+2
April 2011: Chemical pregnancy from IVF cycle..m/c at 5 weeks
July 2011: Natural pregnancy while on break....all going well at weekly scans from 5-8 weeks. At 9 week scan baby was measuring bang on but heart had stopped beating. Testing on the tissue from D&C showed that there were no abnormalities.

I've had a lot of testing and all clear so far:

*Thyroid panel with antithyroid abs
*Thrombophilia panel (they didn't test for MTHFR but all else clear
*Lupus/Arthritis abs
*Insulin, Liver Function/HbA1C/Homocysteine

*Anti nuclear abs
*Anti-cardiolipin abs
*Cervical swab/chylamidia swab
*Teg (sticky blood) was tested when both pregnant and not preg as sometimes it can change..negative both times.

So, I'm now 53 days since D&C - still no sign of AF although have a feeling she could be close.

Terrified at being back in limbo again. I've to arrange for an appt. to see my FS whenever the witch shows. I'm also seeing a chinese acupuncturist and credit him with my natural BFP.

Next mission: Deliver a baby to term.

So, I'm sorry to have to meet so many other lovely ladies in the same position as myself but looking forward to getting to know you all. My front page of journal has my story in slightly less rambling format..do feel free to have a read.

Thanks a mill,
Fitzy aka Jo x

Hello Fitzy, I take it you are under St Mary's if you've had the TEG tests?
What have they said following your loss of a healthy baby?
Have you had a follow up with them? Or your specialist if you are somewhere else?

I found myself in a similar situation with all the standard treatment - progesterone, heparin, aspirin (I have a known clotting disorder) - but still lost my (healthy) baby at 8.5 weeks when it suddenly died (also in July this year).

So this time I am going all out with steroids as well...

I hope you get some answers soon as we can't keep going on losing healthy babies for nothing! :nope:

Hi Petitpas, I recognise you from around the boards. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss of a healthy little babs too. I'm sure, like me, you found it very hard to take when there was "no apparant reason". Then why oh why did the baby's heart just give up??!!! Are you Pip?? If so, am I whispering a very hopeful Congratulations?!

I'm from Dublin, Ireland so all my consults are through my FS over here. He's a Kiwi and used to be UK based but is very well versed in the infertility struggle. I had my IVF in Lister though with him acting as satellite carer. Anyhow, my last contact with him was when he rang with results of the testing. I have to wait until I get a period at which point I have to go and see him to discuss any further testing that needs to be done. Have you got any major opinions on the Chicago bloods?? I'm between minds and know my FS doesn't really believe in them but intend to discuss with him at appointment.

I'm in limbo here at the mo as am waiting for AF - I'm CD54 since the D&C. This is the situation I find myself in:

*Had been temping but not recording it
*Significant temp rise from around 97.2-97.5(usual pre-ovs range from when used to temp yonks ago) up to 97.77 - 98.0 (usual post ov range)...this happened 2 weeks ago and the higher temps lasted for 2 weeks
* Severe AF style cramps kick in on Sunday (12dpo by my reckoning). Check cervix and cm is slightly tinged light brown (general AF is coming sign!!)
* Monday..temp drops slightly...mother f*cker cramps
* Tuesday...temp drops right down to 97.0. (Cramps continue/less severe)
*Wednesday..temp of 97.1 (woke to more cramps)

Wednesday (pm) Still no witch!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, anyone ever heard of someone ovulating, getting cramps and no period shows...maybe my body THINKS I've shed lining???

Btw I did stop and get a test on way home just in case there was an immaculate conception....BFN as suspected!!!

10 days until I am back in the TTC threads.

This thread is moving quickly and I need to post a few replies which I promise to do soon.

Big hugs to anyone who has gone through a recent loss x.

Fitzy, I've seen you around a bit, too :D
Yes, I'm Pip and thank you for the congratulations. I'm not getting too excited just yet as I'm a week away from when my babies tend to die

I reckon the wicked :witch: will be with you by the morning! It'll be such a relief even though by the sound of it she's going to give you a right pounding :hugs:

I've heard of the Chicago bloods. I think my test was a lot more simple and the one thing that came out as elevated for me I couldn't get much info on. Apparently, I have a normal number of nk cells but the ones I have are extra aggressive

I was (am) also a bit sceptical about the immunology tests but ultimately since I know I am not 'fixed' yet I felt I had to give it a go.

Would you have to send your blood to the US for testing or can it be done locally by following their protocol? Or would you even consider asking for treatment without even having your blood tested? I think some IVF clinics put ladies on steroids without going through the hassle of tests. Although I don't know what dose they would use or whether they add IV medication as I think there a few different treatment levels.

Lee - ten days! :yipee: How exciting! I will so be cheering you on :happydance::happydance::happydance:

if taking progesteron this cycle when to one start to test? will the progesterone show a false postive.

Progesterone usually starts 2 days after ovulation in TWW or immediately after a BFP in some cases. It shouldn't cause false positives although may give a lot of similar pregnancy symptoms - bloating, constipation, emotional, fuller tender breasts. It may also delay AF in situation where not pregnant as the extra progesterone keeps temps higher and tricks body into not expelling lining (Not everyone finds that but I always had to stop progesterone in order to bring on my period).

Hi 35

I agree with Fitzy.
In my experience progesterone can mimic pg symptoms. Sore and swollen bbs, fullness feeling etc etc...

I generally start from OV then start taking EPT's at around 10dpo then stop at day 14 if BFN or when AF arrives, I have only noticed AF being delayed once by it but I have to admit sometimes I've stopped taking it at 12 dpo if I'm getting BFN.
I should mention that progesterone can also delay miscarriage or rather prolong it but I've always found when I stop the miscarriage has always happened within about 2 days of not taking it.

It wont show any false positives as it will not produce hcg in urine or blood on a HPT.

Good luck xxx

Ignore that last part. Obviously you wouldn't be using a HPT with blood sample lol...
I'm pretty sure that would def show up as a BFN lol... x

Morning fitzy79 and LeeC:
Thanks for your replies...I was a bit concern. I've never taken this stuff and I wasn't sure what the outcome was. I did ask my fs but he said just test if af doesn't show up. Thus far I have not had no symptoms yet perhaps it’s still early. I got the IUI done Saturday gone and took the progesterone that night (fs orders) but stopped because I didn't ovulate until Sunday/Monday. I have restarted taking the progesterone from Tuesday so it’s only been three days consistently. Well time will tell if I get lucky on the first round of my IUI w/clomid & progesterone.
:winkwink:

Good luck 35. I'm hoping you get your BFP first time. Keep us all posted. I LOVE hearing about success stories on this thread.
x

Hi 35

I have to admit to being a complete symptom spotter and generally whenever I have been pg, my very very early symptoms have never been as obvious as the symptoms I've had when I'm not.
I guess I'm either crazy or obsessed lol.

Once again good luck x.
