Started Fertility Testing..Need buddies...

Hi ladies. Just started with the RE last month. I'm 41, fiance is 44. Both our bloodworks came back fine (for our age) and I just had an HSG this morning. (Holy @#$ did that hurt when they inject the dye...luckily it's a short test, phew). And the good news is my tubes are open. I was kinda hoping there was a little blockage and the test would clear it away, but nope.

My RE, who has zero personality and I refer to as Dr. Frozen Turkey (Dr. FT for short) told me to make an appt again. I'm like just put me on the freaking drugs and let's get on with this. At my last appt he told me he wanted to try Clomid and IUI. I'm pretty nervous. I go the 15th to find out what's next.

HI girls! Fingers crossed for you Kat. I know how you feel about so many failed cycles, but many women older than us get pregnant. Are you sure about 6%, I try not to read statistics bc they depress me. Yay Khigg for 14 weeks ! Cant wait to hear bout the HB. Did you guys think of getting your own Doppler?
ASF. Met with the top doctor at my ob/gyn facility. Loved him! He went through my record. Confirmed my bloods were good, except for low progesterone. Sowed him my next 2 months and confirmed O. Looked at Hubbys SA and confirmed normal and didnt even blink at high viscosity. Confirmed my couple of glasses of wine on the weekends was fine and assured me that it will happen bc I am healthy and have no red flags yet. Agreed to send me for a HSG and after that will meet with myself and hubby to schedule an IUI. Wasn't interested in the biopsy. Told me to discontinue soy iso and royal jelly. He believes if they havent worked they wont and said he will consider clomid although ovulating to produce a stronger O. Well, I guess good news:thumbup:

Yeah I use this table that was published on what the odds for conception are based on age and how long you've been TTCing:

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/08/predict-odds-of-getting-pregnant_n_1948517.html

So if it's correct yes, a 35 year old after trying for 1 year has a 6% chance of conceiving.

Sounds good, here's hoping your HSG shows open tubes:happydance:

Yay for open tubes:happydance:

I would think he'd be able to put you on drugs for your next cycle. But not sure how quickly things move in other countries. Perhaps we're lucky here that I just call them on CD1 and they get me in for a CD2/3 ultrasound and instruct me injecting the hormones afterwards after they've made sure there are no cysts. No appointment before necessary as they already explained IUI (and IVF, just in case) at our 1st meeting back in November and since my HSG showed nothing but clear tubes since, there's nothing to discuss.

Hope you get to start IUI very soon dojenstein:happydance:

Thanks Kat. I wish things were as easy here in the US. I have to make yet another appt just to get meds. So annoying.

And today I got day 3 of blinking smiley face on my OPK. I'm super glad I didn't O before the HSG but now I want that steady smiley. I'm so tired and I have to work tomorrow but I just put on this sexy nightgown (under a sweatshirt and sweatpants) to entice the fiance. Sorry if TMI, but poor thing says he feels like he's sex on demand. So I'm trying to put a little romance back into things. Who knew BD'ing could be so exhausting.

Wish me luck!

Wow that's strange:shrug: I wonder why in the US you need to make an appointment for medication. Seems like the system is easier here and they start people faster this way I think. If it wasn't for the holidays, the clinic could've started me with IUI in December. But since the clinic was closed during the holidays, they told me to call when I got AF after New Year's. Expecting her to rear her ugly head on Monday but yay for starting IUI:happydance:

Good you didn't O before the HSG but you might O later than normal because of it. I was unfortunate in I Oed 1 day early and it ended up being the day after the HSG:dohh:

I think many of us have been falling into that "sex on demand" trap:nope: My DH doesn't mind much but it kinda kills the romance that we try to BD as much as possible before O. Totally silly as we seem to normally get a lot of BDing in there but no sticky BFP while some women BD once during their fertile days and get their BFP:dohh: Think when we start IUI, we'll be much more relaxed about it since we know on the day of the actual IUI I'll be getting a ton of his best :spermy: directly up in my uterus:happydance:

Anyway hope you soon get that steady smiley:happydance:

Hi ladies, I'd love to join in on this thread--- I'm in a somewhat similar situation but desperately trying to stay sane over here during my 16 day TWW...

We did our testing this past October and November.
My husband's SA was above average
HSG -great
all bloodwork great
ultrasound -great

That's good news but something just doesn't feel right to me- it hasn't since the beginning... so I wish that something was coming up that we could take care of.

They recommended I start Fermera right away (even though I ovulate regurarly- I think that is just their standard recommendation) and do the ultrasound to check follicles and then the hcg trigger. We decided to wait a month since the ultrasound is most likely not covered by insurance, so we'll be starting all that next cycle.

This process sure is exhausting. But I know that all this work and tears will be worth it in the long run when he hold our precious little ones <3<3<3

I used another OPK today and got a NO. So odd. According to all my ovulation calendars and previous cycles I should have O'd between yesterday and Sunday. So I hope that steady smiley shows its face soon too!

I've also been feeling really nauseous the last few days. I'm still at work (but get to leave in an hour :happydance:) and all I want to do is hug my comforter. The last thing I feel like doing is BDing. Is that bad?

If we don't get our BFP this cycle we'll be on Clomid and doing IUI next cycle. I'm kinda nervous, but fingers crossed we both get our BFP's!

Well it's Saturday today so still possible you'll O. Maybe it's been delayed because of the HSG:shrug: You could try a different brand or maybe you just missed your surge? Have you been using other methods like checking CM or CP? That could also clue you in on your fertility now.

If you feel really bad, then I guess it's ok not to BD:winkwink: I doubt your fiance would find it much fun if you're feeling really bad.

Yes here's hoping :dust:

Hi ladies, room for one more? :flower: I've read through the posts up till now and recognise a few of these things :)

JJ I'm glad to hear the Dr is going to help you! But beware of chlomid as it has an awful rep for thinning the lining out so if you're worried about yours it might be worth asking.

Who lives in Denmark? I'm in Sweden :) it's rare to see Scandinavians here!

About BD, it really is a stress! Hubby is happy to go without for days so I'm always getting shot down during ov time which is frustrating :haha: but we tend to conceive if we bd the day before or day of ov so it usually works out ok :) pressed was a nightmare for us, even with 0.5g it was too slippery and totally killed all feeling (and bd!)

Lou that's odd about the pcos but it can affect people in different ways, not everyone gains weight or even get cysts, just other issues :) my friends got given metformin to help her ov I think, she didn't think she did so she got progesterone to take to then stop and being on af, turns out she did ov and got her bfp that month!

Oh and about my journey:

We've been ttc 17 months, I started begging for help after 6 when I found out my lining was thin (from light periods but later on, 2 u/s confirmed) and my LP is 9/10 days. I've had 5 chemicals within an 8 month period last year. Hubby's s/a and my bloods were fine. Noone listened till 12 months then have spent the last 4 getting pushed away with useless tests, had an HSG, surgery to remove the world's tiniest polyp cuz my Dr refused to give me a prescription before it was gone etc :/ I finally got referred to another specialist who gave me progesterone to try for 3 months :happydance: I can't wait to ov this cycle :)

Yay! Good for you for fighting for your needs. 5 cp in 8 months is really rough. Hope the progesterone does the trick for you!

Welcome new ladies.

Got my smiley just now. Phew. Now I just need to be able to stay up until my fiance gets home from watching football at his friends house (I usually go to sleep around 9:30).

Who lives in Denmark? I'm in Sweden :) it's rare to see Scandinavians here!

That'd be me:wave:

I'm technically American, born in the US (Long Island, NY), and my mother is Danish (born and grew up in Denmark) so I'm ½ Danish:winkwink: We moved here when I was 16 (I'm 35 now, going on 36 in May) and I couldn't speak any Danish so there was a steep learning curve, made harder by so many Danes wanting to practice their English with me:wacko: I'm married to a wonderful Danish man, we got married in May 2009 and have been together for 9-10 years total.

Yay dojenstein:happydance: Good luck :dust:

AFM I'm expecting AF to show up tomorrow or maybe the day after:dohh: I have a suspicion that I won't be getting my BFp this cycle:nope: But I think I'll be ok with AF showing up this time as we'll be starting IUI and feeling more hopeful that IUI will work than the natural method. Although I'd have prefered if we could've conceived naturally:winkwink:

Kat where on Long Island??? Im from Queens and now live in Babylon. I started spotting last night, but felt it coming since my annual pap on Friday. Scheduling HSG now and we'll take it form there. Welcome new ladies :)

Thanks! It's hard not to have high hopes now after begging for this prescription for a year! :D

Dojenstein Woohoo for +opk! Hope you were able to get your bd in :)

Ooh cool Kat :) I'm British and married to a swede (well he's half Costa Rican but born in NY) I can imagine the learning curve for Danish is tough! I think it sounds like they're talking backwards :haha:

I know what you mean about preferring naturally, I'm sick of pushing for bd just because it's "time" I'd much prefer iui, though the whole process looks very un-charming!

I was born in Flushing but grew up in Old Westbury:flower:

Awww too bad jjbubbles28, I don't think I'm far behind as I fully expect AF to show up tomorrow. Oh well at least my chances for my 18th cycle will be much better because of IUI :happydance:

patienceiav : Yeah some would say it's like talking with a potato in your mouth  But the language is pretty close to Swedish although I sometimes struggle to understand Swedish especially if the person is speaking quickly.

Sounds like your DH has a complicated background but my background is a bit complicated as well: My mother is Danish and my father was French born in France by Ukrainian parents :) They both moved to the US seperately and met there and had me.

Yes IUI isn't very pleasant but if it gives me my bfp I'm all for it at this point :happydance:

Well looks like my 17th cycle was a bust as AF showed up today so on to IUI:happydance:

I have my 1st U/S and hormone injection class on Friday, January 9th. Will update with how it went. I'm planning on injecting myself as I don't trust DH with a needle:haha: Will be getting a mild hormone stimulation but first find out with which hormone(s) on Friday.

Hello ladies, I have to read through these last posts when I get home tomorrow night to better get to know you ladies. Kat I am so happy you are starting your iui. I have my hsg this friday and think I will wait until February/March to try iui. Not sure why, maybe nervous.Maybe I just want one more natural shot. You are doing triggers? He told me I will go on clomid when doing it to help. Hoping my tubes arent blocked

Hey group!! I am going to join you guys since you guys are right about where I am.. I have been trying for the past couple of years but I knew that I really wouldn't succeed on my own due to the fact that I literally will only have a period once, MAYBE, twice a year. That being said, I told my obgyn about it 2.5 yrs ago and he said for me to drop 50 lbs and then he'd help me. I tried losing, became ashamed when I didn't, and then decided not to see a DR about it again until this past Sept (2014). She sent me for an HSG and did a bunch of blood work followed by my husband having an SA done.

I already knew I had PCOS and the blood work pretty much confirmed that... it also showed that I did not ovulate.. but they did do some sort of test to verify I have viable eggs? or something like that?

My HSG I had done in Sept and OMG! If that is any indicator of how labor is going to feel, I am in huge trouble. It was so painful. Granted, it was very short lived.. like 3-4 minutes.. but man. It was intense. Initially both my tubes were blocked but they were able to open them just by using the dye. Since then the OBGYN suggested I see an RE and I finally made an appt. for Jan 29th, so I am counting down. I am working 14 hour days with overtime so I can afford to go because my insurance does not cover anything to do with infertility. The RE office said visits are between 295-425 depending on how long you visit with the doctor. Thankfully ultrasounds are included in each visit. I am hoping that by going off of the previous lab results that all I really need is some clomid or femara to induce ovulation..but who knows.. I really feel like this is gonna take a while!

Bubbles good luck with your HSG this Friday!!!

oh and I forgot to mention, my husband did have low motility but all the other numbers were fine..

I am not particularly concerned with this due to the fact that it took me an hour to drive his "stuff" to the hospital where it was examined because he refused to do it at the facility lol.

anyone else have a low motility issue?

Kat that's so awesome! Not AF but that you now have a busy month ahead of you :happydance: nothing feels better than feeling like you're doing something to actively help your chances :) but injecting at home? Brr! Think you just put me off ever doing an IUI :D

Hello RoyalGoddess! Sounds like it's been a rough road for you :( I'm pleased they're helping you now though! My tubes were clear and the HSG still hurt, I can't imagine what that was like :/ I do think they should give you chlomid but I think that they need to do cd21 blood tests each month to check that it worked, depends on the country I guess :( good luck!
