13 dpo and AF hasn't arrived was due tues 14th going to test but gut feeling it will be a BFN. Is eight months of trying to early to go to gp?

No definitely not :hugs:

In the UK, GPs will see you after 6 months of TTC and they can start to get some blood tests order/done and an SA on your DH/OH and take it from there.

Good luck :hugs:

If you are over 35 generally 6 months of trying is good (as we have less time in case there are issues). But you are 3 days late! :test: - what do you have to lose? If its a BFN you keep waiting for AF, its nothing different than what you expected. If its :bfp: then :happydance::happydance:

Definitely go! And push them for what you need.
Well done you.
But God bless for today. Please let us know if you test.

So sorry about the BFN :hugs:

For over-35s, you can/should go to your GP after 6 months ttc. From my experience, the sooner the better, as once you get 'in the system' things still take time. Our GP referred us to a fertility specialist (FS) at a local hospital; we met with her, she sent us for blood tests, follicle count scan and hubby for semen test; then met us to discuss results; then sent me for an internal scan (HSG). All of this took about 4 months - not a long time, but for me it seemed like forever!

If I were doing it again I would beg to have the HSG at the same time as the blood/semen tests, rather than waiting for the blood results and a follow-up FS appointment, it just seemed like an unnecessary delay. I did manage to speed up the process considerably by calling the clinic regularly to see if they had any cancellations that we could switch our appointments to.

Please don't view this step as a negative one - I think it's a hugely positive process, as you get lots of info about your body (and partner's contribution) and what going on inside, you can ask questions to experts, and if there are any problems you'll find out about them and they can be dealt with. I've found it highly useful and empowering - the more info and assistance I have, the better. Best of luck and a shower of baby dust x

Do you chart? Maybe you ovulated later than normal? Fx that is a bfp though xx

We have been trying for 8 months and our dr got things moving very fast , good luck

I completely agree! I think people view going for tests and help in a negative way and I admit I felt a bit of a failure deciding to do clomid this month, but now that Ive been through the process Im so glad I am doing something that gives me a great chance of getting a bfp!

tigerlilly is definitely worth getting tested and exploring your options. I had a polyp that I had to have removed so Im glad I went for tests straight away.

Hello Tigerlilly (love the name, by the way :winkwink:)

It's a difficult decision, but funnily enough one that we've just made, too.

I'm 36, husband is 29. We started trying after I stopped birth control in November, so we've passed the 6 month mark with no joy.

I've been putting off the trip to see the GP as I'm nervous about the tests and more so the results, but having received some great advice from the wonderful ladies on this forum, we're now booked in for the 28th.

I guess some of us need a little help in getting that BFP, but if (sorry, WHEN!!) we do, it'll be worth it.

Good luck and do let us know how you get on. Keeping everything crossed for you!! :hugs:

C xx

Tigerlilly and Tigerlily1975 I will be seeing my doctor on 21 June to start the ball rolling with tests so we can all offer each other support :hugs:

Sounds like a plan to me, Macwooly! Good luck, I'll be keeping everything crossed for you :hugs:

I will be going that route as well, if no BFP after cycle #6, and was nervous about the intervention path. But, the ladies here who have done it, or are going through it, generously share their experiences and give their advice...They have/ are paving the path, so to speak, for people like me...They are an amazing source of inspiration and knowledge and have given me the courage to go for it if we have to... THANK YOU LADIES!:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Ditto

The first time I started testing in 2009 I felt a failure but realise I'm not :)

Dont give up :hugs: We have been TTC for 13 months now, my GP referred us to a Gynaecologist last month, my first appointment he did an abdominal scan to check all ok and thankfully he said it all looked fine
I am now waiting for an appointment at my local hospital to have a womb xray.
Go talk to your GP there are there to help :hugs:
:dust:

Well I saw my GP and we weren't fob off :) Re-doing DH's SA first then we will meet the doctor again to discuss the next step :) Really feel like things are progressing now :)

I'm about to be in the 6th month of trying. My OH doesn't want to bring science into it yet, and I'm going to go back to charting as soon as AF shows for next cycle. If I see that I am still not Oing, then I am going to the doctor, regardless. I'm tired of wondering, and especially since I will have hit that 6 month mark, there is no reason not to go.

I definitely think you should go now that you are at 8 months.
