Thread for TTC#1 12months+

LKC-- Looks like we're all looking to switch our doctor's. The closest fertility specialist in my area is about 45 minutes away. I will wait to see what this new doctor has to say the end of next month and if I'm not onboard will make an appt. to see the specialist. It makes this whole process even more frustrating for us.

Yeah, If it wasn't for me working in the same town I was seeing the ob doc I would have to drive 30 miles. But if I switch Docs I will still have to drive 30 minutes more. UHG!

All the drives suck, but if it gives us our end results, it's worth it right?

Most definitly! Just wish I had a doc that knew what she was doing!

Me too!! Makes you wonder how they got their medical licences??!!!

Hi Ladies!

I have read so many of your posts and thought after a day like today I would jump in. Sometimes it's so hard when there is no one to talk to that's in the same situation. I am 32, soon to be 33 and my DH is newly 32. My DH and I have been TTC #1 for about 14-15 months. For the first few months I wasn't tracking or using OPK's, that happened around month 4. I had my FSH (9.5) and AMH (.18) done as well as my progesterone on day 3 (11.2 my doc let me know that I ovulated). After the testing about a month and a half ago, my RE put me on pregnitude along with all of the supplements I was already taking:

Prenatal
DHA
CoQ10

The first month (January) was great, I had a 28 day cycle and I ovulated but my cycles are always 28 days and I always get the OPK smiley faces around cycle day 13-14. This month I started having a lot of cramps at cycle day 25 (Wednesday) around 5pm and I started spotting brown blotchy blood with a few small clots. It lasted for an hour and a half and then the cramping stopped as well as the bleeding. I honestly thought I was pregnant and that it was implantation bleeding but then I was awakened at 3am by the most painful cramps ever. There was a lot of blood and a lot of cramping...it took 4 advil for me to fall asleep it was so bad. The next few days were pretty bad and I found it strange that I was still spotting on Monday because my periods are always 5 days. I didn't have a HPT so I took an OPK and it came out with a smiley face. I got a little excited but then I checked 3 hrs later and no smiley face. I let my RE know what was happening and she ordered a blood test for my hcg, progesterone and my estradiol levels. It all came back extremely low. She then called the lab and asked them to check my FSH and it was at 40!!! She called me at work and wanted me to come in for an ultrasound right away which I did and she counted only 1 follicle on each side, I was so devastated....I had an ultrasound a month ago and there were 4 on each side. She basically said that we need to be aggressive now and I just freaked. I have been crying all day. She also mentioned that it could possibly be a fluke month though (I am so hoping). I'm so upset because I have been taking so many supplements and herbs from my acupuncturist so I figured my FSH would improve. She gave me 100mg of clomid to start tonight for the next 5 days. Is there anybody in a similar situation, I would love to hear your stories. This website gives me so much hope and keeps me positive. I hope all is well with everybody and that this is everybody's lucky month!! Thanks for listening/reading :)

Wow preg what a story. Not sure what happened to you...maybe a chemical??? Sorry about only 1 follicle, i sure hope it was a fluke month like she mentioned. Good luck on the clomid! I did 50 mg and it worked for me so the best of luck to you and HUGS darling!!!

:hugs:
Ok ladies, So i went to the doctor today, I am convinced she is a quack! I told her that Clomid was just messing up my cycles and giving me horrible mood swings. She then told me that she was just going to have me take six months off. She hasnt tested me to make sure I am even ovulating, She has done nothing but a pap, I have talked to one of my co workers and she was seeing her also, and didn't like her either, my mom also went to her for her a couple years ago and she didn't like her either. She also told me 'stop trying, and take a vacation' I am SO SICK of hearing this!!
Anyway after her telling me this and me leaving I sat our in my car just bawling my eyes out!
So i think i'm going to see another doc.

I think you should DEFINITELY see a new doctor. This person does not sound like a good doctor or even concerned about your case. Sorry hun.

Thanks ladies for the welcome! I'm going in for an US next week so hopefully clomid works and I get pregnant this month. I also have my HSG test tomorrow and am a little nervous about this...any advice?

ttcbabyisom - You are pregnant with twins, congratulations!! That must be so exciting!! :) If I may ask, did you ever have your AMH and FSH levels checked, what was the reasoning to go with clomid. Sorry if I'm asking so many questions...I feel like everything is moving so fast and I have no clue what I am doing~ Thank you so much for the kind words. Trying to stay positive and relaxed. :)

LKCLDC - sorry about your doctor! Think you should def try to find a new one! I ahte the whole 'stop trying' and it will happen! How can you stop trying!?!?

ttcbaby - TWINS! Wow!

AF came for me but my blood results came back good so all my initial tests were fine. DH has booked an appointment for his SA too. Trying to stay relaxed and positive this month!!!

So I went to pick my prescription up yesterday and they never called it into the pharmacy. So about 30 minutes later I get a phone call from my dr's office finally calling me back from on Tuesday about being monitored. I have an appointment next Friday for a follicle check. Makes me feel a little better that someone did get back to me.

Yeah I was telling my husband what the doctor had said, and he said the same thing 'How can you not try?!"
Are they thinking something is wrong with your follicles?

thank you! I'm very excited but very cautious. I've never had those levels checked that I can recall. My doc suggested clomid for us because it had been a year and i was a very antsy and proactive patient and this was her next step. She recommended an HSG but I didn't want to wait. It's your turn to try to stay positive and relaxed. Good luck to you!!! :hugs:

Hi there,
Good luck with the HSG. It is over really quick and not as bad as you think. I had mild cramping as the due was pushed through my tubes but went as quick as it came. I didn't spot afterwards. Try to relax and follow the instructions from the FS. Take a panty liner with you just incase you spot.
Hope you get some answers x

Hi I'm relatively new to the site and thought this would be a thread I fit into we gave been TTC 1 yr 8 months we conceived at 8 months but sadly it ended at 7 weeks since then we have had no luck. I'm on cycle day 3 and hopeful for march as its my b day month and a bfp would be a wonderful gift.
