What time do you open gifts from under your tree?

We do stockings in the morning as soon as we get up and have made the coffee, then we get dressed and ready, and start preparing the Christmas roast. It's after dinner for us that we open the presents under our tree - about 3 or 4pm. Spreads the suspense out over the day and means it is not all over right away! We also go round my nan's on boxing day for the pressies under her tree! (from extended family) :happydance:

That's exactly what we do...stocking pressies with our bacon rolls and tea in the morning - whenever we get up. Then we get dressed and get ready, have Christmas dinner and then open our presents under the tree in the afternoon when we've all eaten. Will be a bit different this year though as we're going to my mum's for dinner and all Sam's presents from grandparents etc are under the tree so we'll probably open them just before we go (12ish)

Can't wait! :wohoo:

You could take them with you and put them under your mum's tree? Just a thought lol That's what I'd do as my mum has pressies under her tree for my younger brother and sister anyway (and me, my older brother and sister too!) - I love the whole present sharing bit of the pressies under the tree :D When I was a kid we used to sit in a circle and one assigned person share out the pressies in to piles for each person :D then we would go round the circle and open them taking it in turns; one present for one person one at a time hehehe :yipee: So exciting!!!!! :yipee:

Why didn't I think of that?! Thanks :D So much better than opening them all here first! He'll have to open a couple though because there are some huge ones  ...at least then he'll have lots to open with us after our dinner :wohoo:

I like the circle idea rather than all just ripping them all open at once - makes the present opening last longer too! x

We normally get up at 6-7am. Mum hates it, but me and my brother don't see the point in staying in bed any later! It's one day in the year, and even though we are 19 and 20, we both still get really excited about it. My brother woke me up last year by coming into my bedroom and saying: "Laura, shall we go and check if Santa has been?"
Last year though, we got up about 6:30am, opened our presents, and went back to bed to watch the DVD's we got, with the chocolate's we got!

When we were younger, we were always up at 4-5am, much to mum's disgust. Dad normally get's up once all the presents are open..Scrooge. I think when I am lucky enough to have my own children, I will be encouraging them to get up as early as possible. I'm a bg kid when it comes to Christmas!

 My sister and I were the same when we still lived at home! And he did still come

 You lucky buggers! lol

It sucks to be the youngest lol - my brother got a stocking for 4 years longer than me as my mum stopped doing ours all at the same time and he is 4 years my senior! My sister is two years older too so I missed out really! LOL Think I should bring this up with 'santa' - I am owed four years worth of pressies!!! lol

Definitely worth bringing up! You're never too old for stockings  x

4am my God, Santa is still doing his rounds then :rofl::rofl:

V x x

I think everyone should get pressies - you can never be too old for xmas!

We are allowed our stockings anytime after midnight... But as far as the "under the tree presents" go we aren't allowed any of those until after everyone has eaten breakfast all the dishes are done and everyone is dresses in their nice (sunday type) clothes. Then we all get our coffees or drink of choice and start opening. We used to live far away from all our family so this was the way to make sure we made christmas last.

Its a family tradition for me to wait until after xmas dinner and everything is washed up and put away and my nan is sitting down with a cup of tea, then they get handed out one by one and we take it turns to open. I plan to keep that tradition going with my LO's.

My hubby never did it that way with his family but having experienced both he prefers my way.....woohoo! I win!! lol

oh just to add we always have a stocking from santa which we open first thing. :D

i voted between 8 and 9am but we spread it out during the day - we always - get up - congregate in the living with coffee and tea and pressie opening, then have breakfast, more gifts, then get ready and off we go visiting etc, the dinner then finish off the opening after dinner x

Usually between 8-9 but this year it depends on if we get to OH's parents christmas eve or Christmas morning. If not until Christmas morning it wont be until about 11ish!

Snap! We do things exactly the same way! Always did ever since I was a little girl... My DH couldn't believe it when he spent his first Christmas with us and he had to stop after his stocking and wait till after tea to open the rest! But we plan to do it the same way with Anna :D

We're all older now.. 15, 17, and 19.. so we can wait a bit longer.. we all looove our sleep and are content to grab our stockings and go through it if we're feeling overly anxious, lol. This year I'm sure I'll want FOOD FIRST, presents second!!

I open them around 10am, but this year I'll be waiting for OH to get off work so 2pm or later :p

Around 8am. I just can't do it as soon as I get up, I need to wake myself up, have a cup of tea or else the first half hour would go past in a blur.
Maybe a bit mean but Rachel has never been allowed to just run down and start opening, it all has to be done in a specific routine.

The good old days of 3-4am are gone haha, i was such a terror, used to go wake my brother up coz if he wasnt up i wasnt allowed to open anything.
I'd say about 6-7am, depending on how early holly kayleigh and no doubt alex decide to get up, he'll be in a room with them two, and they will have him up at 4am probably, i'll send them ba to bed and just tell them santas not been yet though :muaha:
idk how my parents used to survive all day getting up at 4am with me and my brother!

we open 2~3 at 6ish then we have breakfast and open some more x

Traditionally around 8am. But this year hubby and I have to restrain ourselves until my parents and brother get to our house mid-late morning
