30-somethings TTC #1 Testing and Support Thread!

How is everyone feeling today/ this evening/ morning? Sounds like Im completely on a different cycle time to you all, I am waiting to O! On CD11, will start testing with opk in a few days as dont expect to get O until probably 18, yawn...

So I thought I would share my ttc cocktail this month - my 9th cycle - I am trying:

- grapefruit juice (started 8th cycle and resulted in lots of ewcm)
- Pregnacare conception vitamin supplement (started pre ttc) for me, and Wellman conception for DH (started 4th cycle)
- OPK (started 4th cycle) - and not telling DH when I O from 5th cycle (big mistake!!)
- SMEP plan (started 7th cycle) and no alcohol during BD time (started 8th cycle)
- PreSeed (ordered last night - tried some Conceive+ at the end of 8th cycle but dont think its the same)
- Softcups (ordered last night but will see how scarey they look when they arrive)
- Weight loss for DH and me (since 8th cyle)
- PMA (8th cycle but perhaps a bit too much )
- Trying to keep :sex: fun (since 8th cycle - how awful)

How about the rest of you?

Squirrelgirl; I really like the rollercoaster!
LuckyD; I hope so too! I have learned a lot this month and if AF arrives I will be trying out OPK's next cycle.

I would highly recommend it! I used OPK for the first time this month. I was frustrated at first because I thought I missed my surge somehow, but found out that I O a full week later than I thought. I'm hoping it made a difference this month, but will definitely continue to use it if this isn't my month.

Hi everyone!!!

Lucky, OF COURSE BFP Explosion month is for your Winter too! Hmm, no idea how to sqeeze that all into my siggy! :haha: BFP Explosion Month is now for all of Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. It'll keep going til every last one of us has a BFP!

Ugh, I've been drinking grapefruit juice like there no tomorrow and haven't noticed any difference. How long did it take before there was a change? I've only been drinking it this cycle. I also use pre-seed, do SMEP, no alcohol, losing weight, OPKs some months (DH thinks there too expensive), and taking prenatal vitamins.

Hi everyone!

I'm not feeling too hopeful about this month but for no particular reason :nope:. Don't we all wish this could be easier! But at least we're in this together :hugs:

Totally agree :hugs: I think I would be going crazy without everyone here!

I tried clearblue ovulation tests for the first time this month (they were on special offer at the supermarket!) anyway I got a v strong line last night - sooooooooooo excited!! - We have BD the last two nights and will again tonight and I should be symptom spotting along with all of you in a few days.

Maxxi, I'm with you on the dessert tests! ha ha. I have 4 bought ready to pack and take with me to South Africa

Woo - congrats for the strong line! Hopefully you will get some good news in South Africa! xx

That's a great plan - I wish I had started using OPKs earlier. I didn't start until my 4th cycle, and discovered that I O'd way later than I thought. If I'd know that from the beginning I could have timed my BDing way better! Good luck xxx

Sounds like a great combo! I am doing some similar things....softcups, pre-seed, vitamins and folic acid (plus vitamins for OH), OPKs, and trying to keep things fun and relaxed! I have tried grapefruit juice in the past, which was pretty good, plus did SMEP for two (or three?) cycles, but found it to be a bit too organised and pressured for us....

Good luck love! Sounds like all your bases are covered xx

Ha ha, thanks love! Don't change your siggy...was just having a joke xx yep, that explosion is going to keep on going until we are all knocked up..!

Hey parkgirl, in terms of grapefruit - one month I ate real grapefruits, and that made a difference immediately. The next month I drank grapefruit juice, and there wasn't much of a change. You need to make sure you are drinking proper grapefruit juice - but even then I found it didn't do as much as the real fruit. I like grapefruit and grapefruit juice so it wasn't hard for me! But if you are not a fan I can see it would be tricky xx

Hope everyone is doing ok. All good here, our whole country is going crazy that we drew our game in the World Cup last night - very unexpected for NZ!

I just booked tickets to go see Blondie and The Pretenders play at a vineyard with two of my besties - yay!

Well, I think I'm drinking the right kind. I got the only kind that didn't have any added sugar or other juices. 100% grapefruit juice. I think I'll try grapefruits next cycle. Those would be easier to take to work and have during the day.

I'm what would be 7 or 8 dpo now (even though I don't believe I ovulated this month) and I've been having horrible cramps. Started yesterday and are still around this morning. No other "symptoms", just the cramps.

I'm 5 dpo and not feeling much of anything :nope:. I'm bloated for sure and tired and emotional. But this could be due to the fact that I have to visit my in-laws this weekend (well not the bloating I guess).

Squirrelgirl; I really like the rollercoaster!
LuckyD; I hope so too! I have learned a lot this month and if AF arrives I will be trying out OPK's next cycle.

I use the cbfm and although it stressed me out this month (I O'd days after I convinced myself I O'd and assumed the monitor missed my surge) I'm a fan of taking the guesswork out of things.

JC are you testing tomorrow? Apparently I'm nervous now for everyone who's testing! Better than focusing on myself I guess.
I just checked. You're down for today. Are you?

Waiting4 - you and I will ov around the same time. I'm doing opk's, eating grapefruits and softcups this month. I'm also taking EPO ~ I don't know which works better for EWCM, the EPO or grapefruits because I've been doing them both. But if you aren't happy with just the grapefruit I would recommend EPO.

LuckyD - I thought of you when I saw that NZ tied their world cup game. I hope they manage to go far!!

FX'd ladies!

I tested this morning - :bfn:, but AF hasn't come yet, so I not totally out yet.
I O so late in my cycle that, even though I'm on CD26 (I usually vary between 24 & 26 day cycles), I'm only on 9 or 10 DPO. So, even though AF is due today, it still seems like it could be early to test.

If AF doesn't come, I'll test again on Friday. I've still got my FXd.

I'm still trying to adopt SquirrelGirl's philosophy- What's done is done, so knowing today won't change the outcome. Still, I can't wait until Friday8-[

Thanks LuckyD, In South Africa I will cheer NZ on for you as my 2nd team, after the UK! DH is bringing his laptop so I will make sure to pop on here every now and then. Enjoy Blondie :)

Maxxi, I think it's early for you to have any symptoms, reading the TWW symptom spotting threads it's amazing how many people have no symptoms at all and get their BFP :hugs:

Good Luck JC, I'll have my FXed for you, let us know on Friday!

I'm 1DPO today so another week before I start to completley obsess!

J x

It's so true. There's nothing more that can be done. And symptom spotting doesn't help since symptoms may not mean anything. I only wish I could listen to myself. You're totally still in the running. My fx'd for you!

I started obsessing at 1 dpo! Some of the threads I've read have people listing symptoms at 3 dpo. I'm just going to keep telling myself that I won't really know anything until AF shows or doesn't.

Maybe you're holding your breath over the visit and that's causing the bloating!

I'm not sure I can call it my philosophy, more like a goal to strive for! This is the first month I've felt that way, every other time I've tested far earlier than I know is logical. But what really helped me was having my testing buddy, luckyD! We'd agreed to not test til a few days after my AF was due. By thinking my testing date was the 20th, AF showed up before I really had an urge to test. If you find a buddy who will encourage you to test later (rather than earlier) I think that helps a ton!!!!! (Thanks LuckyD!)

JCfromKC- You are never out until AF shows. :dust: FX for you.

JJay- I always enjoy the first week of the 2WW. Too early to symptom spot...at least it is for me.

Maxx- Hope the obsessing isn't too bad this month.

SquirrelGirl- What a great way to keep yourself from testing early.

I'm starting to get ready for bed now. It's been storming here for the past few hours and I've about worn myself out trying to keep a head of the water coming in our basement. DH will be home soon and it will be his turn for a while.

LuckyD - I thought of you when I saw that NZ tied their world cup game. I hope they manage to go far!!

I wouldn't hold your breath! Especially as our next game is against Italy. It's kind of nice, everyone here is just happy we made it to the World Cup - anything else is a bonus.

Can't believe I am talking about sports on BnB.

I'm still trying to adopt SquirrelGirl's philosophy- What's done is done, so knowing today won't change the outcome. Still, I can't wait until Friday8-[

I try to do this too...easier said than done sometimes! Good luck for Friday love xx

I know, I have read these too...I just don't really get it, surely you can't have symptoms until after implantation? Because it isn't until after implantation that your body starts producing hormones. Although some say they knew from conception, so who knows?

Aw, you are of course welcome Squirrel! Any time xxx It is helpful having a buddy, keeps you focused on not testing! Hope we can be buddies again some time when our cycles get back in tune.

So happy tomorrow is Friday - hurrah! I am very pre-menstrual and know that AF is on the way....just want it to hurry up and arrive now.

Going with that line of thinking then I'd be experiencing some major nausea and vomitting! :haha: :haha: And guess what? I got a reprieve and don't have to go visit them :happydance:

It's not good any month but at least this month I'm able to tell myself that any symptom I feel has nothing to do with anything :flower:
