30-somethings TTC #1 Testing and Support Thread!

Thanks for all the info - especially the explanation of the abbreviations!! (I've been wondering what BFP!) I think that as I've just come off the pill I will wait for a few weeks and see if AF arrives and take it from there.

I feel very naieve about all of this - Having spent the last 14 years trying not to get pregnant its quite a change to be doing the opposite!

Gluten - couldn't agree more! Ive been with hubby for nearly 12 years, married 3 and a half, and we only decided last year to start trying. I came off of the mini pill in August, took 6 weeks for AF to come. I waited to get that one out of the way before we started trying in October.

Starting to worry that there may be a problem as it is taking so long and Im 32 this year but from all of the posts Ive seen on BnB 7 months is quite normal still. He is 37 so a little older and I assume his :spermy: are a little more tired.

Id like to join May testing too if I can - waiting for AF so once its here (unless I get my BFP) I'll let you know the date. Should be 25th May.

Hello

I am 34.5 & DH is 36.. we have been TTC#1 since 01/09. Need to be with other girls who know what that's like!

Hi Titi - completley agree with you. My DH doesnt know I come on BnB just thinks I have developed a sad addiction to the internet... but really does help talk to others in the same situation.

None of my friends except for one know we are trying as its not kind of something I wanted to tell people. But as its our first time there is so much to learn and when you get weird symptoms you need someone to ask - cant keep asking DH as he gets too stressed about the whole thing and could stop him performing!! :winkwink:

https://www.smileyvault.com/albums/userpics/10172/grouphugg.gif ladies!

Howdy Titi! Nice to see you in here :winkwink: These gals are fabby.

Can I just say how I love :coffee: in the morning while catching up on threads? Yay weekends! I should go do the laundry and clean the bathrooms though...

Me too Jaimie-btw I love that group huggy emoticon!

Hi-Waitng4Baby#1. We're on cycle 17.....by now my dh knows all about my TTC & B&B addiction-poor guy he knows all the acroymns and names of my buddies and their life stories, lol. But I need some other TTC buddies that are like us......it is too hard to fit in with the 20 somethings getting their bfps first try!

Hey, ladies! Just getting caught up here. Welcome to Glutenfree! Don't worry, you will catch on to all the acronyms and lingo really quick. I'd definitely wait til you have a normal cycle before worrying too much about testing and such. So you'll have some time to get settled in here and figure things out. It may take a couple months for your cycle to settle, but once it does, your CBFM will really help you know when you are ovulating. I just started using a CBFM last month and I really like it. Much easier to use than OPKs (Ovulation Predictor Kits, basically a HPT - home pregnancy test, except it tells you when you're going to ovulate). It's what your CBFM does for you without having to read those silly lines and figure out if one is darker than the other line. Ahh, and now I've probably overwhelmed you! Point is -- you'll catch on, and welcome!!!!!!

And yay for the TTHF revolution! This will be a great month filled with happiness and calm!

And Jaimie, how did you do the group hug icon??? Too cute!!

Welcome nupu! Date has been added. Sorry to hear that you have been having such a hard time. Sending you big huge amounts of sticky baby dust for this cycle xx :dust:

glutenfree - you're welcome! I totally know what you mean - it is so weird to go from trying not to get pregnant to suddenly trying to. Especially when it doesn't happen straight away - makes me wonder why I tried so hard to use contraception for so long! As Squirrel says, you will get the hang of things here very quickly, and if you have any questions just ask us!

Waiting4Baby - I know how you feel, sometimes I worry too. But BnB has really shown me that getting pregnant on your first go is not the norm! And that 7 months is still nothing to worry about - easier said than done though, I know! I have put you down as 25th May - let me know when/if you want to change it :flower:

Hey Titi! Nice to see you over here. Let me know if you want me to add a testing date for you xx

Hey Jaimie - love that group hug!

Squirrel - happiness and calm - that's a good mantra for TTHF!

Well, it's CD10 for me today...which means it's BD time (I am following the SMEP...although not as rigidly as last month..will just see how it goes). I feel way more relaxed than I did this time last month - now just got to make that feeling last!

Wow- Waiting4Baby, I am in a similar boat. My DH and I have been together for 12 years, married for 5 and just now have started TTC. I am almost 35, he is 37. It makes me a little nervous that we waited so long, but from everything that I hear, it is totally normal for it to take up to a year, and even a little longer if you've been on BC for a long time.

My first month trying is down for the count, and I am ready and happy to be moving on to the next. My goal this month is to just relax a little and try to have more fun with it. Hard when you've been waiting so long to start.

Lucky D, could I possibly be added on for May 20th?

No probs JC, your date has been added :flower:

Yep, totally hear you about relaxing and trying to have fun - and how it is easy to say but hard to put into practice! Lets all help each other xx

Hi Lucky D-thanks! I'm just stopping in and lurking around a little....due for af tomorrow but not testing.

Goodmorning! Have a nice week!!!
Today I have a light coloured second line at my ovulation test...What do you think that means?

A light colored line is a negative. They are not like pregnancy tests. Don't count it until your test line is at least as dark or darker than the control line.

Okay everyone-I lied. (this happens). I tested this morning. I had AF beginning cramps with no sign of blood in cm and am a day or two early still for af. I guess I got excited b/c I have heard from some girls who are pg they thought AF was coming. I didn't use fmu-poas about 2 hours after waking and 3rd pee of day so not sure if it was even accurate-although at 13 dpo it surely must be. I am so daft. I have been known (on more occasions then I'd like to admit) to test DURING af I go into such denial. duh.
