4 Awesome Chic's, TTC #1, 30+, cycle #3, Join our Journey!!!

I don't know enough about that but if the doctor wants to wait a week, obviously she feels it is too soon to tell without more info. Sometimes it is just hard to grab the heartbeat from my understanding. A lot of times this is why docs won't see you until at least 8 weeks. Those are crazy high levels! Fingers crossed that baby shows you guys some good signs soon!

Mala- I take it the vacation was amazing then? I have always wanted to go to the Dominican Republic. Sounds better than this snowstorm we are currently getting! lol

Happy holidays ladies!

Vacation was amazing, didn't want to leave Dominican. Went to only adults resort and it was worth it since we needed rest and relaxation and we did get it! The weather was beautiful, sunny, hot, sandy beach, funky cocktails, blue-green ocean, freshly cut coconut :)) ...and mosqitos :(
If you have a chance, go to Dominican, it's a beautiful land.

Merry Christmas everyone!! Ho, ho, ho!!! Hope Santa broight some nice gifts with a BFP on it :))

Sloan, I think of you. How are you feeling? Any news?

Merry Christmas to you all as well!

my HCG levels went from 27,000 to 22,000 so the dr, said there was no hope. We chose to do the cytotec at home, i started it Friday night. It was pretty graphic but I am still glad i took that option over the D&C.

So I am not sure how long we will wait to start trying again, i dont even know when my cycles will start up again? DH said that this time we are not timing, no pre-seed, no ovulation kits, just good ole sex once a week and we will see what happens. It is hard to start all over, I would have had a 4 month old by next Christmas, and now im not sure of anything. We also sold all the furniture in our spare room to get ready for the baby room, now its just empty and I dont want to re-buy any stuff.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and cheers to a great new year!

:hugs: I don't know what to say, other than I am so sorry you have to experience this. I was really hoping the doctor was wrong.

That's sucks, Sloan. Sorry to hear that.
I hate to say this, but you know you can get pregnant and obviously the issue is keeping the baby, so you have something to work on. Also, I was told that often women over 30 miscarry the first one and then they're fine with the second one.

I hated today at the post-Xmas dinner with the toasts: "Cheers and next year we see you with a baby!"

Thanks All,

Yes Mal you are right, at leat I know i can get pregnant so I dont want to be selfish and will be grateful for that. DH told me that this experience has made him realize that he know he wants to have a baby now, so thats more good news.

Mal I am glad you had a great trip, we have considered going there as well!

Happy New Year!! May this year be full of positive BFPs, healthy pregnancies and healthy babies and move this thread to pregnancy forum!!!

Wow Mala... that's a LOT of emoticons in that post!

Happy New Year to you too! PS- I loved that 'mustache' pic you posted on Facebook. Made me giggle.

I hope everybody had a great New Year! I spent it getting over the flu and MAN was it a nasty flu. My sister decided to give THAT to me for Christmas. Then I gave it to my husband. Shew! Finally feeling better though.

I have my appointment tomorrow with my OBGYN to discuss our 'next step.' I am quite nervous and it stinks that hubby could not get off work to come with me. I had so hoped to lose some weight by tomorrow's appointment, but that did not work out so well. Quitting the Metformin in mid-November really messed things up and my sugar cravings were through the roof! Apparently my general practitioner and I were wrong and I definitely need to stay on the Metformin for now. So I have started that back up again this week and am going through all the nasty side effects of it. BUT I know they will go away and THEN I can really start focusing on losing some weight and hopefully getting that BFP ASAP!

How is everybody else doing?

I know, I didn't think it would be so much (re: emoticons)

The mustache were my final project at school, that what happens in lack of time and inspiration :)))

Good luck at the doctor. Hopefully they'll give you good answers! :dust:

Happy New Year everyone!

Fingers crossed this will be our year for BFPs!

The Dominican sounds lovely, Mala. I have a couple of family members (by marriage) from there & they always say how beautiful it is.

Good luck at your appointment tomorrow Elphaba. I'm thinking I'll be going for my work up at the end of Feb if no BFP by then. What do you ask for when you schedule the appt? Do you say you need to schedule an infertility work up?

Sorry about the flu Elphaba. I had a cold last week too, so needless to say, there was not much BD this month, and my temperature chart looks insane. Lol.

Sloan, hope you are feeling OK.

Well, my OBGYN told me at my annual exam in June, that if I wasn't pregnant by January to come back in. So, when I called to schedule my appointment I said 'I am not pregnant yet and Dr. Blackmon told me to schedule for January if I was not.' LOL So I am not sure what you would say? I mean... I don't think it's an actual infertility appointment yet. More of a fertility appointment to see what is going on and what the next step should be. I hate the word infertility and I would not want to use that word until everything but IUI and IVF had been tried. When you call to schedule, I would just say that you have been trying to get pregnant with no success and you feel it's time to talk about the 'next step' with your doctor. That should cover it.

At my appointment, she looked at my temp charts and my menstrual cycle history. She asked if my OPK's were positive and I said I was pretty sure they were. I even *conveniently* had pictures! LOL So I showed her and said... they aren't AS dark as control, but I still think they are positive. Based on my BBT chart, she agreed with me. Then she said it was time for hubby to have a sperm analysis done and she gave me a cup for him as well as information from the clinic that would be handling it. She also did a culture on me to check for any STD's. She just wants to rule everything out and I don't blame her. She also wants me to have an HSG test done because of my history. Not every OBGYN will order one so quick, but I have some history that makes it so I should have one.

So the game plan is... hubby's sperm analysis ASAP. Then when AF comes to visit again, I have to call the clinic immediately to schedule my HSG since it needs to be done right after AF. Gotta make sure I am not pregnant when the test is done, so that is the best time. Then, if the HSG is clear and hubby's sperm analysis comes back okay, she will call in a prescription for Clomid for me. I will start that on my NEXT AF (so in March) and after I do 5 days of that, I will be on estrogen until I think CD20 which should be after ovulation. She will then do a blood test to check my progesterone levels to make sure I did ovulate and to check for luteal phase defect.

It's so nice to have a game plan! Yet, it's a scary one with hurdles to overcome first. My OBGYN is very optimistic though and that of course made me feel better. She also said that if I am not pregnant in 6 months, she can refer me to the fertility specialist. She even mentioned if my hubby still has trouble 'finishing' when we BD at ovulation, we could try some clomid/IUI cycles as well. She was very supportive! *fingers crossed*

Sounds like your OB/Gyn is awesome! That's great to have a game plan. My doc also told me to return in 6 months if not pregnant, so I think I'll say the same thing you did when I call. Lol.

Since November & December were a bust due to traveling & illness, I think I'm gonna give it 2 more tries before calling the doc. I can't decide how far I'd want to go with fertility testing. DH & I aren't against adoption, so if it came down to IVF I think it would be a sign we should just adopt instead. I still can't decide if I'd even go beyond clomid... I guess we'll cross that bridge...yada yada.

Funny thing, DH's coworker & wife had trouble TTC & were told they could never have bio kids. So they tried to adopt a South American baby, but the paperwork fell through. Just then someone abandoned a baby with Down's syndrome at their church, so they were lucky & adopted him quickly. All of a sudden, the paperwork for the South American baby was approved, so they got her too! And then, to top it off, the wife became pregnant! It's like a story you read about, but never know someone it happens to. So they are now quite happy with 3 toddlers. You never know where life will take you.

Hello lovelies!

I have to share something. My acupuncturist for this week gave me something very unusual to drink- dried human placenta!
Apparently in China has been used for over 1400 years as a remedy.

That's all I can write now, because I'm still in shock what I just drank! (although it was only 3 grams).

Wow.... that's a bit gross, interesting, and kind of funny all in one! BUT he must know what he is doing, so hopefully it will do the trick! Although, the thought makes me a little nauseated. I am sure we have all ate worse though and didn't realize it!

Elpha, I googled it and actually I found a lot of websites regarduing eating your own placenta after child birth! I even found recipes!!

OMG, the taste is SO gross. 6 more days to go.
It better work, I won't be able to take it for too long :)

Sometimes is blessing to live in ignorance :) LOL

Woah Mala! Human placenta... That's intense.
It's been a while... How's everyone doing?

My younger sister is ~9 weeks pregnant now. I just found out this week. Immediately went ahead & scheduled an appt with my OB/Gyn for Feb 25. Lol. I think it would be neat if we were prego together. Trying to stay relaxed, but TTC so hard this month!

We've had a trying few days. Found out hubby's sperm count is a little low and his PH levels are elevated. My OBGYN said his motility and morphology are fine, so she things he may have a minor infection due to elevated PH and this could be why his count is a little low. So she prescribed Doxycycline and he has to retake sperm test in 2-3 weeks. So looks like clomid/estradiol is on hold. Hopefully the antibiotic will fix the problem, if it doesn't then he will need to see a urologist.

I had my HSG 2 weeks ago and one tube looked blocked but since I was on CD5 and finishing AF he is pretty sure the pressure of the dye just lodged a clot up there. He cannot be 100% certain though, so he said if I wasn't pregnant after 3 months of clomid we should repeat the test.

Trying to keep my chin up so that hubby doesn't feel any worse than he already does. He felt bad saying we thought it was me and it was him the whole time. I told him we don't know that for sure.

So now... even more of a waiting game.

Alices, congrats on your sister's pregnancy :)
I had 2 weeks of placenta and as you can see from my chart, the temps looked great, although I don't think I'm prego (did test today for the fun of it- never did it before, and is bfn)

Elpha, men take it harder. It's their pride. Hopefully those antibiotics will solve the problem. Tell him to try drink water with little lemon every morning to lower the PH.
