4 Awesome Chic's, TTC #1, 30+, cycle #3, Join our Journey!!!

Hiya lovelies,

I am 37 and DH is 38. He has a twelve year old son who lives on the other side of the world.

We've been trying for three months. Like you all, natural would be best. We are in the lead up to IVF though, if we can't do it on our own.

No health problems but I have low ovarian reserve. So no time to waste!:happydance::happydance::happydance::happydance:

I hope you are happy to have me join.

dr H

Hey Dr. H! Sure thing glad to have you! Why is your son on the other side of the world? Boarding school? What cycle day are you on, when are you scheduled to O?

Sloan, we might be in the two week wait together! hehehe If things go like last cycle, I 'should' O around September 21st or 22nd as well (CD 24 or CD 25 for me). Of course stopping my Metformin may screw things up...

I stopped taking the Metformin yesterday morning and it is amazing how I am almost feeling 100% better! My Mom said I should feel 100% tomorrow if it was, in fact, the Metformin causing my issues the past week. Starting to look like it was the culprit! If I can keep feeling better today and tonight I plan to be back to my diet and exercise tomorrow! I have been super dehydrated and exhausted from being sick. I actually lost 5 lbs this past week! hahaha Too bad it was probably water weight from not really wanting to eat or drink much. So tomorrow I will hopefully fully recovered and I can check out this Zumba class I have been wanting to attend.

Welcome DrHouse! :)

That will be awesome if we can TWW together! We just booked a trip to Whistler in January so hopefully I'll be going 4 months prego! Already looking at preggo ski clothes

Hehe that would be cool! We are tentatively planning a trip with my family to Riviera Maya, Mexico next June to celebrate my sister finally marrying her boyfriend (baby daddy lol) of 12 years. They plan to go to the courthouse before the trip and the trip is to be our way to celebrate together. Even though trip insurance is available, hubby and I are waiting til December or January to book in case we are pregnant. Flying out of the country can be not only risky, but a super pain in the butt after the first trimester from what I have heard. I would gladly take pregnancy over a trip to Mexico! :)

Man... I bought hubby one of those SpermCheck Fertility Tests you perform at home. After he did 'his thing' I did the test. What a gross experience that was! Ick! LOL I am not even certain I did it right cuz everything was so thick (TMI sorry). There was a faint line which they say is positive no matter how light or dark it is... as long as there is one. So, seems like things are probably okay with him if I didn't screw the test up. Although next time I will definitely leave THAT test to the docs! Haha yuck!

Hiya lovelies,

I've never been pregnant. DH has a twelve year old from a previous marriage! The ex and the small person live in the UK, while we are Aussie based.

Would love to go to Whister and Mexico!!!!!!!!! Woo hoo, ladies!!!! That's awesome. You know when you will get pregnant when you are about to go on an awesome holiday!!!

Im CD6 today. We are in cycle 4. No chemicals and no BFPs yet :(

Just like you girls. Am trying to get fit... and eating well. occassional wine in first half of cycle only. We are getting married in July 13 so I guess since the baby would be due six weeks before, if we get pregnant now, it might happen!!!

Elpha! That is funny about hubby and his sperm! We have never tested my hubbys but we know it works because he knocked up a girlfriend back in the day. (they chose to terminate). I dont worry too much about traveling pregnant, I will fly all over the world up until about month 7 1/2. Elpha what CD do you start your OPK? I started last month about CD 11 but I think that was a waste since I dont O until about CD 17? I was thinking of starting this month around CD 13?

Dr.H,

Haha I love how you call the kid the "small person", thats awesome! Im sure it works out better for you that they are far away, does you rhusband have issues not seeing his son? Why arent you guys waiting until after the wedding to try for a baby? You dont mind possibly being pregnant on that special day?

hi sloan,

yeah I do mind getting duffered first. but i have low ovarian reserve and the specialist wont even let me stop for a month or two so we don't have to move the wedding... we had to push the wedding back re. sons availability. we got the amh test to make me feel better. it was a world of pain to hear that my egg supply is the lowest 10% of women. bugger. anyway. stopped pill immed. trying 4 months. will move wedding if we have to.

how did you meet your hubby? We've been together a couple of years. We knew on day 2 that we would get married!!!!!!!!!

I met my hubby on a dating site! haha My brother was the 'king' of dating sites... in my opinion, the guy on datings sites that women regret going out with! Usually he would go out with one and find a million things wrong with her and never call her back. Anyhow... he was a dating site pro. So he referred me to Plenty of Fish and honestly, most the men on there were complete duds! I thought that site was a 'plenty of crap.' Then I met hubby. I had initially decided to never go out with him again after our first date... he was just 'not my type,' too nice, too forward, and talking LONG term on our first date!!! Plus he had funky teeth! lol BUT after 2 bottles of wine one night I was in one of those drunk induced depressions about never meeting a man, and maybe I just always go for the jerks and I should give the nice guy a shot. SO, I started texting him and we had a date the next day... and the rest was history!

Sloan, I typically start my OPKs whenever I start to notice CM again... OR around CD16, which is today. However, now that my cycles have started to shorten, I feel like I should take an OPK sooner... but now that I am using the OvaCue I figured I will stick with my original game plan of CD16. Before I didn't O until CD 29 or later... however last cycle it was CD25. Today I got my 'cue peak' on OvaCue which is supposed to mean O is 5-7 days off. Today is considered possible fertile. So I took my OPK and it is still negative, but that is expected. If the OvaCue IS correct, I might even 'O' between CD20 and CD22! That would be a NORMAL cycle. :) Well, for me, because my post O phase is generally 12 days. I would say if you O at CD17 pretty much every cycle, there is probably no need to start before CD13. I never know for sure what day I will 'O', so I always start way too early.

Also... Sloan or MalaMae... didn't one of you mention the CoQ10? I have read a recent article on PCOS that was talking about this supplement and it's benefits. I also read that taking it with L-Carnitine allows them to 'compliment' each other. I thought about trying it, but I am not sure what dosage I should take. I read that 100mg 3 times a day is better than taking 300mg all at once. Apparently they are both good for getting energy to our cells and 'repairing' muscle after workouts. Athletes like to use it to for that. Soooo... if it gives me more energy for these killer Zumba classes, I am all in! ;-)

Hi girls, I'm back. I've been MIA. Trying to figure out what to do. We decided we'll go to OBGYN, I do need my annual pelvic exam and PAP, and get second opinion.

Elpha, I'm taking CoQ10 for improving the egg quality. I think it has overall benefits for the whole body, just like the royal jelly and the maca.

Dr.H, welcome! I have low AMH (6 pmol), and when they told me the results felt like the whole world crushed on me. But then read a lot of success stories with natural conceiving. It's pretty new test, so they don't have all the answers. My doctor told me that the women with low AMH are poor responders to IVF, but gave no answer for natural conceiving.

Sloan, have a great time in Whistler! If it doesn't happen until then, you may actually conceive there while you're relaxed :)

My story: I'm from Macedonia (Europe) and hubby flew from Toronto for a wedding (8000 km one way just for a weekend!!), I was the maid-of-honor and that's how we met. Nothing happened, but he says he already knew I was the one and said "I'll come back for you", I said "Yeah, sure u will" (didn't believe him). Couple of months later he did (we talked on phone/skype every day), I realized I'm in love with him as well. Then I vistied him in Toronto (after no seeing him 6 months- that was hard) and we decided we should get married. 6 months later we got married in Macedonia, 7 of his friends came over. I organized the wedding in a month. :)

Hey Dr. H,

so what is an AMH test and how do you know if you have a low reserve? I mean how would you go about finding out? My husbands favorite place in the world is Australia! we had a trip planned for this New Years but it just didnt work out, hubby says its the best New Years in the world! We met on an online dating service called Match.com, we moved in together after 3 months and engaged after 8 months. We got married in St. Lucia last October!

Welcome back MalaMae! What a sweet, romantic story of how you guys met! Talk about destined! I met my ex boyfriend when we were in a friend's wedding together. It 'almost' worked out... but he never popped the question after 2 years and he was becoming a control freak, so I left! So, 'almost' doesn't count. hehehe Quite glad I left or I would have never met my current hubby!

So glad to hear you are going for a second opinion! Sometimes you just need that. I truly believe that one doctor cannot know everything and if he says something won't work, you should find somebody who can show you that it can! Hopefully you will find the help you need.

Aww Mal! thats so awesome!!! Do you miss Europe? I was to go to Spain sooo bad! So what is AMH?

Hi everyone. Sorry, I've been MIA from this thread since posting my intro. I love reading how everyone met their OH/DH. MalaMae, that is such a romantic story! DH and I met through mutual friends so there isn't much to our story.

DrH, I'm curious about amh too. I am off to google it.

I'm considering consulting a RE as well. We've only been TTC for a couple of months, but we were NTNP before that and so far nothing.

Thanks girls :) i do miss home, especially miss that you can walk everywhere there, good natural food and life is slower. Anyway Toronto has its good side :)
So AMH stands for Anti-mullerian hormone and it measures the ovarian reserve. It's pretty new test an they don't have all the answers. It costed me $150 and it's just a blood test.

Everyone has cute love story. I guess when u find the right one u just know it :)
Hopefully soon we'll tell pregnancy stories. :)

Hello Ladies,

I'd love to join this thread if you'll have me! I'm 31, DH is 29, we've been married almost 5 years and this will be my 8th cycle trying. Well... really first three months were more like NTNP since I had the craziest work schedule ever and was never around. I decided to join this forum because I'm starting to get a little sad and frustrated after the past 6 or 7 months and still no BFPs.

We're trying SMEP for the first time this cycle... I'm currently on CD11 and started doing OPKs yesterday. I've never tracked anything before so I have no idea when to expect O. I'm just beginning this journey but I've been wanting to start TTC since last summer and DH thought we should wait until spring because of my crazy work schedule (I'm in the Navy). So, now I'm on shore duty and have plenty of time to BD but no luck thus far. :nope:

Also, not to sound crazy or anything but I'm starting to wonder if maybe this is karma for me... I got preggo at 22 with a guy a had been dating a month, he went psycho when he found out I was preggo and I wasn't really ready, so I had an abortion. I've never wanted children until about a year and a half ago and now that I want this so badly, I feel like is my punishment. I've always regretted that abortion and so... karma.

Sorry to be so depressing... I am happy to be here with you ladies and after reading all your stories, you give me hope and make me not-quite-so-sad anymore. :flower:

Interesting story. I guess things are turning the way they should be.

Man, what a long day and I am about to strangle hubby! He invites a bunch of people over for a bonfire and dinner tomorrow night and just tells me this morning! The house is a mess, I had a super late night at work because of an event (7 am til 9:30 pm) and I come home and he did nothing I asked!!! My Mom and her boyfriend are coming to help us install the new water softener tomorrow, but hubby has a hair appointment in the AM... so I guess I get to do everything! Grrrrrr!!!!

Then wouldn't you know, looks like I am potentially ovulating even earlier than last cycle according to my OvaCue. Today is what it predicts high fertility and tomorrow is peak fertility meaning I should more than likely ovulate Sunday or Monday. He fell asleep before we could BD last night... I got home tonight too late and he was asleep... And well, with our house being full of people tomorrow isn't looking good! I told him maybe we could have a quickie before he goes to his hair appointment. Didn't tell him I might be O'ing. He still thinks next weekend because that was what I thought.

It is awesome that the Pregnitude is noticeably working, just stinks that we could miss it. I wasn't fully believing the Ovacue until I saw my vaginal reading tonight. Super low, which as they explain is what happens when progesterone backs off significantly to make way for the estrogen peak that induces ovulation. My reading dipped drastically!

Anyhow... I am exhausted and that is causing me to ramble on! Zzzzzzzzzz

Hope all is going good with you ladies!

Elpha, it's ok if you miss a month. Don't stress yourself too much. That's the mistake I was doing until recently. We even lost will for sex, we stopped enjoying it, everything was about baby making. Now finally I woke up and is really hard to change back to how we were. Don't make that mistake.
Stress is not needed when ttc-ing. It just won't work.
Try your hardest to keep the spontaneosity.

I called my obgyn in Macedonia and she said "the only ones that are getting pregnant are the one that don't want to" :)
Apparently by stressing ourselves, our bodies are producing some hormones (or whatever it is) to help our body deal with the stress and it blocks the body to concieve (the body thinks it's not the right moment for that). (I got very nice explanation from hubby- he has Bachelor in Human Biology, but I forgot the exact words/terminology he used, so this is my simple interpretation).
That's why I had to take a BIG step back and see what have I done for the past 2 years.
Don't do my mistake.
Concentrate now on your diet, dealing with your PCOS and have fun in bed :)

Sorry, I don't want to sound like I'm preaching you, but I don't want to see anyone here go through the same. I wish I realized this 2 years ago.
