Anybody NOT having the flu jab???

I'm not getting it and I've been surprised that the doctor hasn't brought it up yet. I've only had the shot once and I got horribly sick right after it so I don't plan on ever getting it again.

My friend at work his daughter is a nurse and she said she isnt having it. She works on A&E in the local hospital and says as far as she is concerned not enough research has gone into it. Flu has been around for years, so why start a jab now. No, not for me, just my own personal opinion xx

the main worry is high fever and dehydration If you can keep those in check you will be fine

I've had it . I looked into the risks and benefits and decided that I personally did want to get it (despite never having had flu before and being generally very very rarely ill). I was fine afterwards and everything seems to be OK a week on.

Not true.

The CDC has been telling pregnant women to get seasonal flu shots since the 1960s, but the first randomized, prospective trial testing the vaccine on pregnant women and their babies was not completed until 2008—and it was comprised of just 340 subjects in Bangladesh. (Luckily, the trial suggests that flu shots are safe, although it only tracked the health of the babies for 24 weeks after birth.)

I had mine. Here is a link to the CDC's website on why they believe pregnant women should be vaccinated. I'd consider this a credible source. You can find more information about the flu shot on their website as well.

The controversy with pregnancy I believe stems from the shot containing the preservative - "thimerosal". Thimerosol is a controversial preservative because it contains small amounts of mercury. However, thimerosal-free vaccines are available (although they can be difficult to find - my OB wasn't offering a thimerosal-free version). The flu shot contains less than 1 microgram of thimerosal.

So I had a regular flu shot and just stayed away from any mercury containing foods for the week prior and after my flu shot.

im not getting one. no thanks =] however everyone i live with has gotten one so i think im ok

why do people that believe in getting them have to come on here and try to shove there beliefs down our throats. this thread was made asking whos NOT getting it.

I was about to say the exact same thing but I didn't want to start a fight so I just left haha.

lol it just bugs me. And i am allowed to be bitchy i am preggy haha

i have had it but because my husband wouldn't take no for an answer. but i wouldn't had it if i didn't feel forced into it

I had the same problem, I almost didn't get the shot because of it but just decided to do the same as you and stay away from eating anything with mercury in it after reading that Tuna contains more mercury on average than the shot.

Shoving our opinions down your throat? Mainly people have stated that yes they are or no they are not having it and stating the reasons why. Who has shoved their opinion down your throat? And FFS if you don't want opinions on a topic don't post a question on a public forum.

It is one thing to have an opinion that the shot is/isn't for you, but it's ridiculous and irresponsible to spread misinformation about something just to support that opinion in an effort to sway people.

I could really care less who wants to get the shot or not. It just bothers me when people support their opinions with incorrect information.

I think the issue is opinions vs. facts actually.

Lets please not turn this into a debate ladies. Its fine to have your own opinions and to represent your research but lets not start fighting.

nope! 100% not getting it. i dont think it's necessary, I rarely get sick, plus I know people who've gotten the jab and still got the flu :dohh:

This was my thread that i started and was simply a question who is NOT getting it. I dont want to start a fight, people have their own beliefs and thats that.

Im not having it for my own personal reasons, plus after having a late loss last year, it worries me having anything at all. For those that have had the jab, then thats fine, that was your choice, i just wanted to know about people not having it.

Thank you for all your responses, now lets not fight, this is meant to be a happy time, we are having a baby xxx

jeeze this thread again!! If you dont want to get it fine, if you want to get it fine. But this thread is for who is not getting it. So you pro flu shot people really shouldnt even be in this thread.....IMO.
