anyone got pregnant after ovarian drilling?

Oh wow babydust. Yr bump is gorgeous!! So perfect! Xxx

I love your bump babydust!! Its soo cute!! Hope I get one like yours xx

Hi everyone, I don't post very much on here but just to let you know that I had my BFP today 13dpo. I can't quite believe it as this was my first month trying after having OD and taking 50mg clomid. Just wanted to give those of you still waiting some reassurance that it will happen. We having been trying for 2.5 years and have never had a positive test before. Good luck to everyone x

For those of you that are having clomid babies can I ask whether you were given an early scan? I have a doctors appt tmrw and would like to push for one if I can as I also have pcos so thought they may class me as high risk? I'm a little bit worried as I have been experiencing period like cramping for the last 2 days - did any of you have this? I'm not sure if it is normal. Thanks

Mcnicks!! Wow. Fab news and congratulations. OD is just amazing!
I was on clomid after drilling but no early scan. I'd try to wait until at least 7 weeks if u can so that you get to see heartbeat. Otherwise earlier than that can cause stress.
Don't think you're classed as high risk with pcos honey xxx (that's a good thing)

Congrats Mcnicks! Thats fantastic news!!! I didnt get an early scan either so just paid privately for one a 7 weeks. Wishing you a healthy & happy 9 months!! xx

Thanks Kstan and Firefox - I'm so excited but don't quite believe it yet! OD is def amazing; this wouldn;t have happened without it! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancies xxx

Im back to square one Im afraid. :nope:

Been doing OPKs for the last 4 days and they are almost positive all the time - so looks like my LH levels have increased again but not giving me a proper surge. No other ovulation symptoms either and I always get lots.

Im CD16 and beginning to lose hope now....Why did things go so well first cycle after the OD and now it's back to a joke?!

Im just sick and tired of it all, I want to give up and scream with frustration....
I guess I will have to take Provera again when I hit CD40 or so and then take the Clomid - at least I still have enough for a cycle.

I am really happy for all the girls who their BFP after PD but as always nothing ever seems to be working for me....Im pretty certain it'll be the same with IVF...

dont give up just yet hun i nearly did and it wasnt till 5-6 month later after OD i got my BFP dont give up it can take a little while for your body to adjust to the operation many people who fall straight away after are the ones who are on clomid i wasnt on clomid till october i had OD in august and got my BFP in january loads :dust: xxx

Thanks Babydust - I phoned my fertility specialist today and spoke to his secretary and she said to ask my GP for an early scan at 7 weeks due to higher risk of multiples and ectopic. I have booked an appt for this afternoon so hopefully he will be able to arrange this for me. I just want get to the first scan and then i will be able relax and enjoy it. I am glad that period type pain cramps are normal at this stage. btw your bump looks fab i can't wait to start showing!

Maria - Hi, I'm sorry that you are feeling low at the moment - I spent the last 2 years feeling miserable so I understand how you are feeling. I would suggest speaking to your dr about starting clomid again. I took clomid first month after OD and it worked first time - I did not ovulate with clomid before OD. Good Luck x

Maria sorry yr feeling down. I know all too well it's easy to b sucked into the low feelings of ttc and hard to see a way out. All I can say is that I took the advice of some lovely people about staying positive. Wen people told me to stay positive, my 1st reaction was f off I'm positive every mth only to b let down again every mth. Then my hubby asked if I was actually being positive and wen I thought about it I started each cycle worrying I'd ovulate, worrying about bd on time etc and that's all negative thoughts. I started reading the the secret and it helped me to visualise and stay positive and mth later got my bfp. I know 2 other girls on here too I recommended book to have now recently got their bfp also just by being positive. Xxxxxx good luck

Babydust. Happy 18 weeks babe and look at yr sweet potato awww xx

I know. It would fly by if everyday I didn't count the days until baby is here. Haha x

haha i do the same lol :) i like been pregnant but just cant wait to meet him/her :)

Hello Ladies,
I have never joined any forums but this forum is a lucky one because many of its first writers are now expecting!!!

Just wanted to first and foremost say congrats to all those who have become pregnant, and I truly hope it all goes well for you.

Heres my story:
I got married in March of 2008 and within 2 months unfortunately contracted Herpes which is a sexually transmitted disease (for those who dont know :)) myhubby is the only man I have ever been with - so it must have been my OH... it was so bad that it put me off sex for a whole year after that.

Anyway back to TTC...so I have been actively trying over the past two years, well I have been overweight since i can remember not Obese, plus I have never had regular cycles, so I went to the doc in Jan 2009 and was diagnosed with PCOS...Lifelong painful condition!

So I have since last July 2010 gone to a private specialist...not affordable but just scrapping through, He did an HSG to see tubes werent blocked and when everything was OK, he put me on Clomid, and I have been on 5 cycles of Clomid last one being in March 2011. Anyway I have just been to see him after my blood test for Progesterone on this cycle and it was really low, so Clomid has not worked for me, he has now said that I should go for OD.

I have booked myself in reluctantly for May 2011, which is 3 weeks away however the cost for the procedure directly is £4,000! I will have to take a loan for that, I was told I could get a referral from my GP to an NHS hospital but the waiting time is 16 Weeks or more! I just dont know what to do, and then the doctor says I need to take less stress! How can I not with all these swords hanging over my head

Well thats my short story, just to give you ladies some background about me. My questions for you are, Has anyone else had a BMI between 25 - 30 and not been able to shift the weight, and got pregnant after OD?
Second I know it is my decision to do the procedure, but some advise on roughly how much it cost you would be good. Just to help me to make that decision.

I am sorry to have just jumped in to your group but you all are so supportive to one another I just want to be a part of that, and I also think you ladies are luck charms!!! :hugs:

Thanks in advance I will keep you all informed of what happens to me!

Kind Regards,

Arza.

16 weeks may seem like a long time but surely that would be better and save yourself £4000 which if you needed to ever use could be put towards future treatment, iui/ivf etc?

Hi Arza. I just had OD done privately and alltogether the cost was £2,800. I did it at a BMI Private hospital.
My BMI is 25 and I find it really hard to shift the weight. I was on the Clomid for 6 cycles before OD and "ovulated" on 5 of them. The reason ovulated is in parentices is because we believe I have mature follicles that just don't burst and release an egg due to hormonal imbalances.

My first cycle after OD was 26 days with clear ovulation signs - I was over the moon but didn't catch. No Im on CD17 and no ovulation signs at all - so I am becoming really upset. I had very high hopes for OD but even that doesn't seem to have helped.
I will be going back to Clomid in May for a few more months but what difference will it make if the follies still don't burst?!

So at the moment I am a little discouraged. I know most girls got their BFPs after tha OD and it happened a couple of months after the operation, but right now I find it very hard to stay positive.

The reason we went private is because our GP told us there are no referrals on the NHS at all! That was last october and I think the new budget didn't kick in until April. So next time I go to see the GP Ill be pushing again to get onto the IVF waiting list.
If I were you Id wait the 16 weeks and get the trreatment on the NHS. Also, it can actually happen sooner so you won't have to wait that long.

Hun can I ask how do they know that you get mature follies but they just dont burst? Is that found out from prog tests or scans? xx

Hi,

Thanks Trilou and Maria for the replies.

Trilou - thanks for the good advice and definately taken on board. However first I need to see my GP, then get him/her to refer me, so they write to my specialist, then I get booked in for an appointment to see the specialist and then he puts me on the waiting list so it may be a lot more than 16 weeks - but money is definately an issue so I have booked in an appointment with my GP for next Tuesday. I will see how long it takes to get my referral processed and how long it takes to get on the appointment list and if that is a couple of months as I suspect then I will go private....I am just tooo impatient.

Maria - I am doing my surgery at a BMI hospital as well but the hospital cost on its own is £2,500 then the surgeon and Anaesthetist (please ignore spelling) is approx £1,200! then I have the follow on appointment and so total cost is approx £4,000!
Your BMI is quite good actually, and I wish I could be at that I am at 29 so just borderline obese...not there yet and trying really hard not to get there!
Well I have lost 1/2 a stone in the last 2 weeks which is 7 pounds so its a start...THanks for your encouragement! :)

As far as your situation goes, (not that I am an expert or anything) tell me to shut up if you think what I am saying is jibberish...but I think that you are at a good point and I really do not think that this is the time to lose any hope....you need to pick yourself up, and love who you are and trust that you have worked hard for what you want and its on its way...I said this to another girl who had IVF who works with me, who was saying 'its not worked, I can feel it' and I said to her until you do not see red (AF) then you have hope and a fighting chance! Also Men - (again I am not an expert) but sometimes we stress them out alot with all this baby making talking (mines like that) and they dont have a clue what we are going through... so less of the talking and more of the :sex: HeeHee!

Hope this helps....I look forward to hearing your BFP news in a couple of weeks, IT WILL HAPPEN!!! You will be in my thoughts, and prayers...(I am the religious sort ) so please have me in your thoughts too! :)

Keep us informed! XX
