April ‘baby’ showers 2020

We've almost told all the people who need to know before Facebook, I'm not sure when I'll put it out there though.

We've told all our family but I am EXTREMELY awkward about telling people (no idea why) so I'm basically just holding off with everyone else until it becomes obvious, which at this point doesn't seem likely for ages.

Those of you who are working, when are you meant to tell your managers? Mine are going to freak out a bit because I run the social work department in our office and if I leave they're in real trouble (for boring/complicated reasons it won't be as simple as just replacing me for a year). My work BFF is a week behind me and told our boss last week because hers is really obvious already (second child) and now I feel more pressure to do it. What have you guys done in the past/what do you intend this time?

Hi all

Currently in Ibiza so trying to keep up!

Beautiful scans mother, Sweden’s and smiley

welcome rachee, I’m going to guess boy!

Rose, I told my employer pretty much from the start, I only do 2 days a week admin though and no one needs to be hired to take over, was still a bit nervous though as I only do about 10 hours a week and they don’t ask when I work or where from eg) home, they’re so flexible I felt bad saying I was pregnant for the third time lol

I tried the Doppler again but couldn’t find anything yet ( yes I’ve taken my Doppler to Ibiza!) I’ve also got diarrhoea, sorry tmi, but can’t take anything that says is safe so fingers crossed it passes!

I would probably say something now Rose to give them time to get organised if it won't be straight forward getting someone in.

Sorry to hear you've been unwell Star. Hope it passes soon and you're enjoying your holiday.

I hadn’t planned on telling work until after my scan but ended up having to tell them a couple of weeks ago and after being really nervous it was such a relief! They were happier than I expected!

I’d tell them sooner rather than later so you’re not worrying about it, and they havectime to prepare!

Hope you’re enjoying youre holiday star and your illness passes soon!

Thank you ladies

How is everyone today?

Apart from headaches everyday I feel ok so I wasgettinng paranoid again as could put the headaches down to the sun but I found the heartbeat on the Doppler his morning!

So glad you found the heart beat. It'll be much easier when we are all getting clear and regular movements. I've not felt sick at all today and last night I managed to stay up past 10.

Glad you’re feeling better too mother and staying up later!

I take it back because I feel like I want to nap now. Still not feeling sick though so that's a bonus

Star great news about the heart beat x

Headaches and tiredness killing me off here!

Telling work: Ive kind of been forced into it, really shitty circumstances that I wont go into. But yeah, they are aware!

Oh no mother! I have been nausea and vomit free since Thursday. After the worst few days of vomiting I had! Hoping it peaked and stopped!

I have an insanely stressful and busy work week next week and I find my nausea picks up when I’m stressed so it will be the ultimate test if it has really gone or not!

Good luck next week Sweden, fingers crossed your nausea has actually stopped

So I'm admin on this parents group on Facebook, and one of the other admin has just told us she's pregnant and for a moment I felt really jealous and annoyed, then I realised that I didn't need to be because I'm actually pregnant and was like "yay!!! Bump buddy!" I guess it takes a while to break the mentality after 3 years of it not being me :haha:

Haven’t been able to find heartbeat on Doppler all day, fs wish I hadn’t tried!
Swear I felt movement last night and this afternoon in the same spot though, like a flip or something rather than a kick

Star, where is your placenta? I'm not even bothering with a Doppler because mine is anterior and I've heard that can be difficult to find, so I'm avoiding the anxiety of trying (even though I really want to!). I hope you feel more flutters soon.

I just bought some maternity clothes on line. My jeans are definitely too tight (even though I don't have a bump, I just look fat) and my leggings for the gym are getting a bit uncomfortable too. There's so many costs involved in pregnancy! Haha, sometimes the good old days of sack dresses and confinement don't seem so bad...

Bring back the pregnancy smock :haha: though I'm pretty sure they were designed more to hide a bump. I remember my father in laws mum telling me how her own mum told her off for "faunting her condition in front of the boys" because when she was pregnant with my father in law she was reading a news paper and the baby kicked the paper hard enough that the paper visibly jolted and her brothers were in the room at the time. It was 1941 but it's not like you can control babies kicks :haha:

I've not felt anything definite still. I've had a few twitches but they could have been nerves twitching.

How's everyone doing food wise? For a while there I could only drink fresh juice, I still want the juice over every thing else but can manage a cup of tea or some water or squash now. I'm quite in to spicy food at the moment. Yesterday I bought Sweet Heat Skittles. They are weird, sweet yet with a kick, but they are so good.

Rose, that’s a good point, it’s anterior, my last 2 were as well, nurse doing scan said it didn’t look too bad so maybe she meant it she a bit high too
I’ve just found it again so feel better now lol
Mother, I can pretty much eat and drink most things now but still not keen on juice or fizzy drinks
I haven’t felt any more
Movement but think what I did feel were flutters, because of mum anterior placentas in previous pregnancies I didn’t feel flutters, just full kicks at 21 weeks with each

They didn't tell me where my placenta was, so I'm guessing it isn't anterior this time.

Hey all! Midst in a crazy week of work this week but so nice to catch up on how you are all doing!

Star glad you found the heartbeat! I considered getting a Doppler but knew I’d panic a crazy amount if I couldn’t find it one day so decided to not!

Mother- I also am in to juice. But can pretty much eat anything. Except mushrooms and fish. Baby hates it and makes me vomit violently around those two!

Rose- agreed on the smock! Hate feeling tight in clothes. I’m in maternity already but still feel a bit restricted. Get a bit sensitive during pregnancy about feeling confined in clothes. Haha.

I think my morning sickness has basically gone! Other than right first thing before I’ve eaten anything I’m nausea and sickness free!! Even this week when I’m nervous and stressed which can really trigger it!
