April Showers Bring May Flowers - May Testing Thread *9 BFPs and Counting!*

Sorry tmi but just dtd and have got some light bleeding. Possibly af making her appearance

At the emergency room right now, they're running tests to see why AF hasn't shown up yet. Fx the blood work shows a bfp. Even if it doesn't I am happy to get answers either way. Positive vibes and I hope it's your bfp ttc

Hope everything turns out fine. FX! <3

Good luck! X

Apparently a UTI can cause 2 months of a missed period... No blood or ultrasound test done. Said I had a UTI and shipped me out... barely got to talk to any staff. They weren't busy so I can't understand why they would brush a patient off

Did they test your urine for the uti Amanda? I would assume they tested for pregnancy as well with the urine. I have never heard of a uti causing a missed period and for that long. I don’t want this to come across as mean but sadly a missed period (no matter how long) doesn’t always mean pregnancy :( I would be seeing your gp or obgyn about why you’re not having your period. Get some bloodwork done to test for a hormonal imbalance as to why you haven’t been ovulating and getting a period. It is really frustrating not having a period when you are trying to conceive and it’s best to see your regular doctor over the ER. I hope you find out some better answers soon xx

Definite signs of af today, lower back is agony, cramping and just that groggy feeling you get when you just want to curl up into a ball.

Amanda are they treating your uti? If not I would go to your usual gp and get them to test your urine and prescribe suitable treatment if needed. Hope your cycle sorts itself out soon

Af symptoms can also be pregnancy symptoms. Your not out until the witch shows her face

Amanda - I am so sorry that the hospital staff was so dismissive and didn’t give you the care and attention you deserved. :( I hope the antibiotics fix things up and AF either shows up so you can try again, or your BFP shows up late! :)

Amanda I'm so sorry you didn't get the answers you were hoping for! I completely know how you feel being brushed off by various types of doctors. It's so infuriating! I mean, why did they go to school for 12 years and then residency if they can't be bothered to help people, right? I will say that my only positive experience with doctors for anything relating to my fertility was with one particular gp (though she didn't have extensive knowledge about my issues and nor did I at the time but she genuinely cared) and fertility specialists. I know they are more expensive and can sometimes seem intimidating, but I have found that specialists, even more than ob/gyns are far more knowledgeable in anything related to the reproductive system (even if you're not trying to get pregnant). You would think that ob/gyns are just as knowledgeable about the female reproductive system but they actually are just not...it's crazy. And they will be quick to refer you to a specialist or brush you off (my experience mostly) if the issue is something they aren't familiar with or even don't want to deal with because it's more complicated than the run of the mill reproductive health standards. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I really hope it's nothing to worry about and that you do get your answers soon and also find a doctor(s) who is willing to help!

I think I'm out because my temp dropped drastically today, even though AF isn't due for another 5 days. Although I work up at about 4:00 am and took my temp (36.6) then went back to sleep and retook it at 6:00am when it was 36.0. This is the lowest it's been the entire cycle and I'm wondering if the fact that I slept badly (I have a cold at the moment) may have affected it. Yesterday it was 36.9 so this is a big drop.

Rose any number of factors can affect BBT...that's why fertility specialists tend to steer their patients away from relying on it. Your cold, sleeping badly, the temperature of the room, sleeping with a partner, even a pet can influence changes in your BBT.

Are you temping orally? If you have a cold, it's likely you're mouth breathing at night which will skew your results. I have allergies, and had to temp vaginally, but it made a huge difference in my charts when I did.

Thanks all. Been keeping to myself for a few days because I'm upset over my experience. I keep all of your advice in mind and hope that it isn't something worse. I was never diagnosed with PCOS or endometriosis, I was even told all of my reproductive organs are in working order. It's just a weird occurrence to miss a period for 2 months when I am completely regular and have been since my teen years.

Thank you all for your support and advice
