~~~August Apples 2019~~~
It's not too long, it only sounds longer with middle name but you rarely say it as a full name anyway. I love it, sounds so pretty. We have gone quite modern with our name & it's quite common too unlike our other sons but i love the meaning "god has been gracious" & although i'm not religious as such, i certainly prayed to god the last few months xx
@JJB2 I've always really liked the name Valentina, it's my aunt's name.
We are so lost on names, we were always so sure on a girl's name, but if we had a 2nd boy we knew we'd have no idea. Our son is Luca and I really want another Italian boy name so my parents won't butcher the pronounciation (they have strong Italian accents) Matteo and Lorenzo crossed our minds but I'm not so in love with either
Congratulations JJB2 and HappyWay!
I should hopefully get the front page updated soon! I am so sorry I haven't. I haven't been on my laptop at all. I will be on a break from work soon, though, and I will be able to update a lot for a little while then.
I think that is a beautiful name JJB2!
We don't have a name yet. When I was pregnant with my daughter, we went through so many names and couldn’t settle on any except for Holly. So that's her name. This time, both of my kids want to name the new baby Emily. I am fine with Emily. I would use it, but my husband won't give his opinion, which is getting annoying. He doesn't come right out and say he doesn't like it, but he won't say he is good with it either. I wish he would just say it's good. And then we would go with it. Half the time, I find myself already calling her Emily.
I just got the front page updated! Congratulations to you too, Smudgebear! Somehow I missed your post. What a great scan!
We are tied with names really. Our first is called Millie-Rose.
We have so far:
Isla Grace
Esmae (cant find a middle name that rolls off the tongue)
Daisy Mae
Poppy (struggling for a middle name)
Lilly (LG choice)
Oh threw in 'Vera' (his grandmas name) when he arrived home last night but I'm not keen at all.
You ladies any inspiration??
Random question, but we have been working on a registry mostly to let ourselves know what we will need this time around. What do y’all think about double strollers? Necessary? We will have a just 2 year old and a newborn. I love to take our daughter the the park/zoo/museum and would like to continue doing so on my own. We go out a lot in the summer when I’m not teaching. She’s fairly independent and likes to walk but is very slow and I’m not confident in her ability to walk for an extended time. It’s a huge investment so just wondering if it is worth it.
A double stroller is one of the few things I am going to spring for. DD will be two when this baby is born and I just can't imagine not having one. We don't use a stroller often as she walks or we carry her but that doesn't seem safe once we have an infant in the mix. I've never had to juggle two kids before and a double stroller seems like it will make things far more manageable. I'm hoping that having one will will calm my anxiety about her running off and getting hurt.
As far as names go.. We had a girls name picked out but now I'm not so sure about it. We at least have a list if it's a girl though. But if this baby is a boy I have absolutely no idea. Nothing seems right either way.
My anatomy scan is on Thursday. I can't believe that this is the midpoint already. Time is flying.
I don't know when my scan is because my letter didn't arrive today :( they did a thorough scan last friday at 18+2 but they do that every 2 weeks anyway because of the issues we have. Still want to see him again though :) i know they were trying to get it at my local hospital so hoping they have managed to x
I'm 19 w 2 d today and DH saw Baby move for the first time! He still hasn't felt it, but I'm sure that'll change soon, this is a very active baby!
BabyPotter - I don't really have name suggestions. But my husband's grandma's name was Daisy Mae. :) So that was funny to see it on your list! I think those two names definitely go well together.
Weebles and Dream143r - How did you scans go?
I have never had a double stroller because of the age gap between my kids. But I would totally get one if they were like 2 years apart. Everyone I know has and used it a lot.
Pitakat- How neat to see baby from the outside! I can only feel mine because of the anterior placenta. However I can feel her move low down when I put my hand on my belly. It's so reassuring as time goes on to feel more and more!
I am counting down milestones right now! I feel like this pregnancy is going by fast. I just looked at the calendar yesterday and realized I have 4 months to go right now! I am itching to get past 24 weeks right now. But at the same time, it feels like it will he here before I know it. I am on a break from work for 2 weeks right now, and I am about to go into full on baby preparation mode. I also thought I had avoided heartburn this pregnancy until it reared its ugly head last night.
How is everyone else doing?
My anatomy scan went really well. Baby is in a funny position so the tech couldn't get all the pictures of the heart that she needed but I'm not getting worked up about it. Same thing happened with DD and they'll just try again in two weeks.
I'm feeling daily movements now, woo hoo!
The same thing happened to me Weebles. I am going back this Tuesday for a follow up one so they can get 2 angles of the heart they couldn't last time. I felt the same as you. Not worried about it. I am so glad it went well!
Also, we have settled on the name Emily Robin for our girl. It feels good to have a name to call her.
Rebecca, I have always loved the name Emily! So cute!
We have our 20 week scan tomorrow. I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy is going. I’m definitely gaining more weight this time around . We’ve painted the nursery. Now to put together the crib and get a glider.
Was anyone else unsuccessful at breastfeeding the first time around and trying again this time? So torn- I really wanted to breastfeed the first time but not sure I want to go through the guilt/panic of the baby not getting anything like last time.
Thank you! My kids actually picked it out. And they agree on very few things. I thought it was a nice name. Then I was just waiting on my husband to tell us what he thought. Then he suggested Emily Robin (Robin is his mother's name). We all thought it was great.
I breastfed my son exclusively for about 3 months. Then I combination fed him until he self-weaned at almost 6 months. He had reflux, though, and feeding him was so difficult. He would eat and then spit most of it back up and then want to eat again. It's why I moved to combination feeding. I couldn't take the stress of constantly having to feed him. I also couldn't get enough out with the pump.
Then I breastfed my daughter exclusively from birth. It was a night and day difference. She did not have reflux and nursing her was so much more normal. Much easier. I had time to pump with her, but she started refusing bottles. So it was hard to leave her with anyone else. She breastfed until 8 months. Then she started on some solids and started taking a bottle. She quickly decided she preferred eatin this way.
I plan to breastfeed with this one also. Although this time I am going to combination feed in the hospital. Both of my first 2 were jaundiced in the beginning and also only breastfed. And both had to go under the lights. That experience alone is so stressful. I am hoping to help this baby avoid it. So I will likely give her some formula along with nursing her at the beginning to flush any jaundice out.
My anatomy scan last Thursday went well. He's still a boy lol. We got some great pics, something about seeing his little feet and his little toes completely melted my heart. The only thing that came up was that his kidneys are borderline on the small side. My OB said she wasn't too concerned and things would likely even out. Won't know for sure until our next scan which is a while away at 32 weeks but I'm confident it will be fine.
We had our gender reveal to our families on Friday evening which was a lot of fun. We did the powdered filled baseball.
Rebecca - I'm feeling the heartburn too. Luckily it usually doesn't stick around too long for me. I like the name you've chosen for your girl, very sweet.
We have shortlisted the names Luke, Trey, Cole and Miles for now.
bumble b- I am so glad you had a great scan! Very sweet picture too! I hope the MRI will go well too.
I had my 2nd scan yesterday to get the 2 views of the heart and one of the spine that they couldn't get last time. Everything was just fine. She decided to give me a free 3D scan since we were quickly finished with our other 3 views. It was nice to see my little girl. She was snuggled up to the placenta! Right now, she looks a lot like my son. It will be interesting to see her sweet face in person!
