Beach Bump Graduates!

Thanks for the tips eve... I'm still not sure if I want to co-sleep or not...it makes me a bit fearful....but i guess falling asleep sitting holding him is technically co-sleeping!! Haha! I thought about maybe putting this mini bf'ing pillow in my bed...it keeps him in one place and prevents rolling....he loves to sleep nestled in there during the day. That's what I did with Audrey, but we were on the couch so I couldn't squish her. I wish that pillow fit in his bassinet. I guess we'll work it out!

Fifi- so sorry to hear that your experience was not good! It sounds like you're on the right track getting back to basics...as long as you and baby are happy that's all that matters now. Good luck...hang in there...it's definitely not easy. :flower:

Jenni as long as you observe the co-sleeping guidelines you'll be fine. As long as there's nothing near/around his head [I have my pillows going vertically up the headboard so I'm only sleeping on 1 half of them so they aren't near him. A breastfeeding mother will be more aware of her child, I find while co-sleeping with him I waken before he even starts to cry for a feed. He sleeps on top of the duvet with one of his own blankets over him. Really at his age he shouldn't roll anyway. I keep a pillow down one side of Atti and I'm on his other side.

Sorry you had such a rough time in hospital Fi :hugs:

I'm jealous of your sleep Eve!!!

We've just got back from weigh in and Naomi has put 5oz on since Friday woohoo!! I shall be celebrating my stuffing my face at Smith and Western tomorrow for M's Birthday :)

Jenni - sounds like your c- section was the best thing for you in the end, but sorry to hear your hospital stay wasn't that good. Glad to hear Max is doing well.

doodles - congratulations on Naomi's weight gain. Enjoy your dinner out for M's birthday tomorrow. As for disposable breast pads I have been using boots own and really like them. No irritation and they look fine under my clothes.

Caz - hope the doc manages to give you something for your rash.

Amanda - glad to hear the physio is helping Billy's feet. Hope you managed to get your assignment finished.

Mummyss - glad you and Leo are home okay. Logan has no aversion to either breast or the bottle as long as he is getting milk lol although I have found that I tend to feed underarm on the right side and accross my front on the left but hadn't realised that til now lol.

BV - good that Jillian is continuing to gain weight and yeh re the sleep. 4 hours at a time that's great.

Eve - hugs for both you and Atticus re the infections, but way to go on the 5 hours sleep, excellent.

Mel - congratulations on Harrison's weight gain and fantastic that you have been discharged from the MW.

Fiona - sorry to hear that you had such a terrible time in the hospital but its good that you and Cameron are home and able to do things as you wish now. My Ab's totally screwed with Logan's tummy too and gave him really bad wind poor soul.

afm - Logan had two wakenings last night which now seems to be his average and I find that I can cope with that okay. He's still bad with the feeding lots at the moment and I can't decide whether it's because he has a sore tummy and can't latch properly, or if he is having comfort as opposed to feeding, or if he is just a total greedy guts!!! Yesterday he was constantly on the boob from 8pm to 1130pm.

Doods weirdly both Chris and I are more tired today than we have been any other day?! I don't know if it's from having a deeper sleep or what but we're both falling asleep on our feet!!
Well done N on her weightgain!

Moira it could be his latch because I've found Atti's feeds have decreased since I got help with improving the latch and he's stopped throwing his head back too!

AFM: I just realised Atti's 2nd and 3rd toes are webbed!

That's funny what you say about feeling worse on more sleep- I tend to feel better on less lately....weird!
Sounds like Atti will be a good swimmer bless him! Is it noticeable?

:hugs: Moira- all that feeding's gotta be tough!
x

Well he's 11 days old today and I JUST noticed haha it's only up to the first knuckle so it's only a part webbing I just can't believe I didn't notice before like I'm always holding his feet!!! :] Ya gotta love their little quirks :]

Eve - thanks it may well be his latch as funnily enough my nipples have been a bit sorer the last couple of days but I assumed that it was due to him feeding more and not thought about the latch. I will have a chat with the HV tomorrow as I am going to get him weighed anyway.

Moira the way I was taught to latch 2.5yrs ago was different to hot the MW taught me - I was doing the "V" on the back of his neck to bring him in but she taught me to hold his shoulders instead

Hi everyone.
Wow its been so quiet on here over the weekend, people must have been busy with their babies and enjoying the nice weather! :happydance:

Fifi, sorry to hear you had such a horrible stay in hospital, i was lucky enough to have had a really good experiance despite the emergancy section. big:hugs: to you.

Jenni, welcome back! glad to hear you are getting on ok:thumbup:

Doodles, yay for Naomis weight gain, its such a relief to know you are doing something right isnt it?

Eve, how cute that Atticus has partly webbed feet, will they sort themselves out or will he need any treatment do you know?

Simmy, great that you are home and Leo is doing well.

Caz, boo for the rash, hope it clears up soon

Amanda, hope you are feeling better about FF now, really you have no reason to beat yourself up about it :hugs:

Curlew, soundsl like you are settling into a routine with Logan now which is great, i think BF babies feed a lot longer and more frequent from what i understand as the milk digests quicker than formula.

AFM, mega busy weekend but very enjoyable also. On Sat we had friends over for lunch , then went for a nice walk with harrison in his baby carrier for the first time, Alan wore it and he looked such a proud daddy, was so cute!

Yesterday we had a big family do at my mums house where shw catered for about 30 people and there was family there i hadnt seen in years so was lovely, we got thoroughly spoilt with baby presents too and i have a lot of thankyou cars to write! Harrison was so good, he was very tollerant of bieng passed about and enjoyed being the centre of attention.
By the end of the day i was so tired and emotional though, think my hormones are playing up, sometimes i just look at my little boy and burst into tears because i love him so much.
Today we got Harrison registered after MW visit so he is now legal which is great, we then came home and chiled out, i bought a new book called "what to expect in the 1st year" its vert good especially for 1st time mums i recomend it.

WHERE ARE ALL THE BEACH BUMPS?? PLEASE COME BACK! XX

BTW did anyone get bounty photos done in hospital? we did and they were so nice and well priced we ordered some, they arrived today and we are so pleased with them! X

Glad you had a good weekend Mel!

Martyn has the day off tomorrow woohoo!! Unfortunately Naomi's hospital appointment is tomorrow afternoon but hopefully we won't be there long, then we get to go and stuff our faces hooray!

No- we had them done with Holly but they weren't there this time :(

Mel - Yea I had them done and they're lovely! I had them done for Saraya and was so impressed plus the family really liked getting a photo each too.
Re: the webbed toes he won't need anything done, they'll just stay like that as it's only a cosmetic "problem" really. One of my friends has it and you only really see it when she wears flipflops.

Doods I hope the appt goes well

My baby is spitting up so much. He spit up the entire bottle of breast milk I just gave him and now he's just screaming. I don't know what to do with him. :( He has an appointment on Monday but I am going to call and see if they can see him sooner. My poor baby.

Hope your babies are healthy and happy and mommies are getting some rest.

mummyss, hope Leo is doing well.

Wez Atti was doing the same and the MW told me it was okay so long as it wasn't every feed and if it was the dr would put him on gaviscon

Wez Atti was doing the same and the MW told me it was okay so long as it wasn't every feed and if it was the dr would put him on gaviscon

He's done it for the last 6 feedings. IDK, he's calm atm. I swaddled him tight and put him in his swing.

Sounds like reflux wez, gaviscon or ranitidine is what's prescribed (ranitidine is a smaller amount from what I've heard). Other tips are to avoid putting baby down flat for 20mins after a feed, wind every 2/3 mins, small meals often. We've had this a few times but I'm not sure if it's to do with the upset tummy he has from the ab's I'm on.
Eve Interesting what you say about holding Atti's shoulders as Cameron hates it when I try to hold his head in a v.

Went for a nap this afternoon with Cameron doing skin to skin and woke to find him nursing :D he's also been rooting more when hungry, so making progress! Also witnessed his first projectile poo on DH, tee hee hee!!!

Wez, hope Jonathan feels better soon! I hate it when Jill spits up. Other than burping them, I don't know what else we can do. Her pediatrician says to stop feeding every 5 min or so and burp and then feed again. I didn't really try this because I feel awful to stop her eating just to burp. Maybe it will work for you?

About baby photos, I thought I could take them myself because I have a nice camera, but she's so squirmy. Plus, I can't find the tripod so we can take a picture as a family. I always wanted a black and white baby picture with the three of us. For some reason I can't seem to get the lights and darks to be rich enough. I did mess with the contrast and brightness and all that, but it's still not looking quite right. I bet it's the lighting. I'm thinking I might want to splurge just once and go to a studio for a few photos while she's still tiny. Problem is she wants to eat constantly. I'd hate to pay for a 1hr studio fee and sit there breastfeeding for half of it...any ideas?

This is what I managed to do on my own. I have a few other photos to mess with, but it's not quite what I envisioned.
