Beach Bump Graduates!

Mel, hope you had a lovely time at Harrison's Great Grandad's.

Clare, fab that the medicine cured Niamh's reflux.

GW, hope Hailey sleeps for you tonight too, that's amazing!

Maria, hope N gets sorted at the hospital, at least they're looking after you, the NHS isn't too bad! Are you managing to sleep during the day or is that difficult with H?

Hann, your wound sounds awfully painful, big hugs to you :hugs:

Caz, I know exactly what you mean about getting the confidence that you can cope on your own, my Mum has been staying for a few days but we decided I was ready to go it alone for a bit now!

Samzi, love the pic of Alice, how are you both doing?

Curlew, Logan sounds like he's in a good routine. Your trip to Stirling Castle sounds good, it's lovely to do things like that.

BV, sounds like Jillian is doing well, if you can see more chubbiness she's bound to be putting on weight.

BB, hope it goes ok putting Joshua in his own room tonight, it's bound to be tough for you. :hugs:

MM, thats fantastic news!!!! SO pleased for you. :)

AFM, as I said my Mum went home today, will miss chatting with her & all her help with just the little things like putting the washing on and wiping down the kitchen! But hopefully DH will be home all weekend & we might try starting the BF again.. Thinking of starting with the electric pump on the nipple which has lost it's scab, then maybe we'll give Jadelin a half feed so she's not ravenous & then try her on.

DH got home from work early so we went out for a walk & ended up in Pitcher & Piano where I had my first glass of wine, and a chocolate brownie, yummy!

xx

Congratulations MM!

Georgie - green stuff doesn't sound good! Maybe you should check in with them soon in case it gets worse?

Tor - expressing some milk first should help you BF as your breast won't be as full so she should be able to latch easier. Def try the lie down position though, it's a miracle!

Evening all. Sorry not been posting much on here, loads of stuff on at the minute and Soph is being a grouchy bugger every evening. Fairly sure its soome manner of colic even though thankfully it's nothing like Harrys.

Hann so sorry to hear they fucked up your stitches. I've been told its not uncommon as when they stitch you up its all swollen so they can't see what is supposed to go where. No excuse though, you'd think they'd be better practiced!

hope those of you having Bf issues get them resolved soon one way or another, those early days are sodding painful!! :hugs:

MM so pleased for you, I really couldnt be happier!

Hi everyone sorry for going awol the past few days, the sodding hospital won't let people charge their phones so I've fallen properly behind. Will hopefully catch up once settled at home.

It's all going well with Leo - I love him to bits! He's quite a hungry cry-ey baby so have spent a lot of time cuddling him and putting him on the breast, sore nipples but the lanisoh is helping!

We will hopefully be out of hospital in the next day or two. I'll do a proper birth story when Im back home but the short version is: 2-day induction during which I had horribly painful contractions but was only 3cm dilated at the end of it all. They started the syntocinon drip and Leo did not react very well to it. On top of that they couldn't break my waters as they had gone missing! Must have been leaking away without me knowing, weird eh. Oh and also there were signs of meconium when they examined me. So in the end, c-section it was.

Recovery seems to be going ok touch wood, but I'm currently on a blood transfusion due to pretty low iron levels. It wasn't dangerously low but I opted for the transfusion as I've been feeling pretty dizzy.

Had my first shower today after the section and feel soooo much better already!

I'm just sooooo in love with my boy!

Hope everyone is well, promise will catch up as soon as I can.

Simmy xx

outraged on two counts - firstly that you had to go through all of that in only for it to end in a csec anyway, and that the fecking hospital wont let u charge your phone!!!

glad all is going well tho xxx

Glad you are getting on well with baby Leo and having lots of cuddles, mummy and baby time!! Can't believe the hospital won't let you charge your phone!! I had my midwife move the bp machine so my phone could get charged and still reach me on the bed at the same time.

Hope that you get home soon over the next few days ;)

Haha thanks I knew you'd appreciate the phone frustration. Tbh I've been charging it anyway, when I can, but you have to be a bit sneaky. Which is tricky when you can't bend or stretch!

Ooh just spotted your news MM! I'm thrilled for you!

Hann, huge hugs for the stitches fiasco. That really is poor practice and I hope they can sort it sooner rather than later. Whatever happens, I'm sure over time they can redo them and then they'll be the most perfect stitches in the world.

Simmy - lovely to hear from you! Hope you are ok and get home soon xx

just trying to settle Ajay after a feed - how can he be so awake?!

Hope everyones nights are going well xx

Hey everyone - not been on here much as Elliot is a bit poorly - took him to the docs as he sounded a bit chesty and went off feeding. Doc said he had the snuffles so prescribed calpol and some nose drops. He still isn't eating as regular and when he does he's on and off as he can't properly breathe so has to come up for air bless him. All I can do is provide cuddles! While he isn't eating properly am going to start expressing and try him on a bottle next week. He is so sleepy at the mo which I think is down to the calpol.

MM congrats on your fantastic news - so happy for you!

Hann and BB hope you get your stitches sorted soon - Hann I defo think you should make a claim...

Simmy glad recovery is going well - hope your iron levels improve.

Doodle I hope it goes ok at the hospital. Elliot hasn't been gaining much weight either and definately won't be now he's not feeding well! Glad the mastitis has gone.

Claire how did Niamh get on with her hearing test?

Just wanted to say congrats, MM!! So excited for you!

Katie's being so fussy tonight, been up feeding and calming her most of the night (and giving DH little pushes, his snoring isn't helping either of us get to sleep!) Katie keeps trying to give me these big open mouth smiles that are so adorable, but every time she does my milk leaks all over me out of her mouth! Now I'm terribly wide awake at 4:30 am. I just want to sleep!

MummyM - I am sooo pleased for you. huge congratulations. :happydance:

Mummyss - glad to hear you and Leo are getting on well but have to say am totally with Lindsay that the hospital are crap for letting you go so long and then end up with a c-section and they wont let you charge a phone in this day and age.

catch up with the rest later as still in my PJ's and need to have my shower and get dressed.

Simmy I think between the 2 of us we have enough to take the NHS down!

Freckles - poor Elliot, it must be so hard to see your baby feeling poorly. I hope he is okay!

SB - sympathy with the lack of sleep and grouchy baby!

Annabelle was sooo grouchy last night, had her in bed with me but she still wasn't settling and I slept less than 2 hours. In the end I put her back in her basket and I could hear her whimpering but I fell sleep for an hour and when I got up she had done a huge sick all over herself. I felt like the worst mummy in the world! She seems okay now though. We took her for her last mw appointment today and she now weighs 6.5 pounds - so has put on almost 6 ounces since she was born!! The midwife couldn't believe it and said it was virtually unheard of and normally by day 10 they are just getting back to their birth weight. Clearly all the feeding has paid off!
On that note, I am feeding her every 1.5 hours at the moment, does anyone have any tips to increase how much he is eating and decrease the frequency of feeds? Or is that wishful thinking that this is possible?

Great news tha Annabelle has put on weight so fast Han - your feeding must be really good for her! Ajay only made it past his birth weight when he was weighted this Thursday so she is making such great progress!

Had an ok night last night with Ajay - he is waking every 3.5 hours which isn't too bad. But Neel didn't sleep after the 5.30 am feed (he actually went for a run and did the gardening, how active!) so he is tired now. So I need to push on today and let him sleep. But I think actually this is probably as good as it gets!

BB - amazing that Joshua is running out of room in his moses basket already.

Tor - how did you get on without your mum there. Have to say without my mum coming in each day I haven't been getting ready in the mornings so quickly!!

DM - sorry to hear Sophie has been having some colic. Think Logan is having that too as a result of the antibiotics I was on last week.

Freckles - sorry to hear that Elliot is feeling poorly. Hope he feels better soon.

SB - hope Katie managed to settle and you were able to get some sleep.

Hann - congratulations on Annabelle's weight gain. Sorry I have been doing the on demand feeding for Logan so he dictates how long and how often he feeds for. Not sure if you decided to hold off on feed to say 2 hours then Annabelle may feed for longer but equally she could get fussy waiting and cry more which can give babies wind:shrug:

Caz - glad Ajay had a good night and you were able to get some rest.

Topaz - well done for having a day out and for BF in public. Lovely picture.

AFM - had a quiet day at home. Did 5 loads of washing and got it all out on the line which was fab. Did some ironing (not all 5 loads though!!). Logan has been getting fussy at nights between 5pm and 8pm. Kind of not settling more than anything and has been a bit grouchy. Think it may be a touch of colic. He isn't crying excessively, infact hardly cries at all, but just doesn't seem to know if he wants to lie down, sit up, be cuddled or what. He has been eating well with lots of wet and dirty nappes and he has been posseting a bit after some of his feeds. I will monitor and see how its going and make an appt for the GP if its still bad on Monday.
