Beach Bump Graduates!

Can't talk much as on phone but Mel, they won't get into a routine til at LEAST 3 months - don't beat yourself up. they spend the first 2 weeks half asleep so when they come out of that and are alert more of the time it's a bit of a shock but it's normal and you're doing great. Just go with him for now and the routine will follow. Sophie has only just started sleeping a bit longer at night and she's 6 weeks. xxx

Thanks for that Linds, i feel better now and thanks to everyone else too. Its all a learning curve isnt it?! xx

So sorry to hear about Britt and her little girl. I doubt you're reading this Britt but we are all thinking of you and here if you need to chat or write it all down. Big :hugs: for you and your family...

Not been on here much as i hardly get time - I have the biggest pile of washing ever which is taking me days to get through lol.

Hubby has been off for a week and is off next week which is nice - we have a family photo shoot booked for next week so hope Elliot is in a good mood!! Was hard to know what time to book it for as he's not really in a routine either. Last week was similar feed / nap times but it's all changed this week! Maybe it's because he hasnt been well...

Mel as Doods says you're doing nothing wrong - I had lots of tears early on thinking I was doing it wrong but you're doing great!

I had the same thing with Annabelle - thought we were getting into a routine but now every second or third day she won't sleep. Even on a good day she will sleep 4 hours at the start then only go back to sleep for an hour and a half in the second part of the night before she is hungry and needs a change ( no matter how much she has fed for at the previous feed).
She now has thrush too and I have nipple thrush. It's not really bad but I have medicine for her and canesten cream for me which I have to continually wash off so she can feed.
Did any of you that have had this end up on anti biotics?

She has now been screaming just over an hour, Greg is in the pub with the nct boys. He said he would come home but I have to handle this at some point. She is so colicy. It's awful, I've changed her, fed her, tried a dummy, tried her on the swing, tried sitting up and lying down, tried rubbing her tummy, tried gentle rocking, nothing is working! Any ideas??
I want to be able to handle this but I have no clue now and she is so distressed!!

HNn - just quick post as I'm one handed on the iPhone. Just wanted to say that Ajay dies that sometimes and there is no rhyme or reason to why or when he does it. I hope Annabelle's crying passes and she settles soon x

Ps - I try singing to Ajay! It sometimes soothes him. I'm not a great singer but it drowns out his cries and seems to work! x

Thanks Caz, I picked her up and she pooped so I changed her again then tried to feed her but she unlatched and looked like she was asleep so I moved her to her bed and she woke up screaming. So back to trying to feed her again. She is calm but I worry that as soon as she stops she will cry again! Oh dear! It's so hard doing it on your own isn't it?!

H had bad colic, its just something they grow out of at about 12-14 weeks. DH used to put him in the car and take him for a drive for an hour, so I could rest. The only other thing that helped was walking up and down. Dont be afraid to just stick her down and leave her for 10 mins to get your marbles back, she may as well scream in her basket as in your arms.

Thanks linds, may well resort to that! It's amazing how one baby can make so much noise! Feeling sorry for her though, she looks so miserable!! Hopefully at least she will sleep well tonight - she must be exhausted!

^^ Agree with you Linds, sometimes you need to go and shut out the noise or you'd go mental!!
Also when I had nipple thrush with Saraya they gave me cream and it did NOTHING there is an antibiotic tablet you can take, can't remember the name but look it up online... they'll only give it to you if the cream doesn't work but you only have to take 1 or 2 tablets and mine cleared in 48 hrs! It was agony I used to writhe round the bed screaming in pain after a feed.

Thanks Eve - she is in bed and asleep (I think!). Feeling a huge sense of achievement! Plus when Greg gets back she will be asleep so I will feel like super mum ha ha!!
I'm hoping the cream works, at the moment its not a bad case - though her tongue looks pretty horrible. I'm hoping I won't have to resort to anti biotics as I'm sure they caused it in the first place! Will just have to watch it I guess though.

Katie and I have developed thrush. No fun! Not on antibiotics yet, trying to cure it other ways.

One of the treatments stains her mouth dark purple, so she looks pretty silly today. She doesn't seem to mind though - she started to really interact with me, doing lots of smiles and even her first giggle! I was so excited to hear it, she's such a little cutie.

Niamh crys most evenings! When it all gets to much I usually put her down and walk away for a bit. It can make you go insane. I find singing or whispering to her to help sometimes helps. Tonight she started early at 5pm so have taken her out, just trial and error what helps one day won't help another.

Sorry about the thrush Niamh had it badly! It's what put an end to bf foe me as we were just passing it back and forth I was not given medication for mine though :(

Yes was very strong antibiotic fluxcilian and another one can't remember name off top of my head that caused my thrush then Niamhys :(

Thanks Clare - I thought yours was due to anti biotics too. Niamhs sounds much worse than Annabelles, not nice! I managed to get her to sleep for an hour and a half in her bed in the bedroom so had time to chill out for a bit but she just woke up and neededmore feeding and nappy change. Greg is home now to share the load though.

Sb - sympathies on the thrush too. The thing I was given is just a thick yellowy syrup for her. Just hope it works! It smells of anaceed. Not great!

Niamh took Nystatin for her thrush and it worked really quickly so dont worry Annabelle will be better soon. The main problem for us was that my infection was not healing and I had to keep extending my course of treatment which would mean she just got over it then it would come back again. :(

Alot of Niamh's problems are due to reflux she has baby gaviscon but it does not always seem to work. I take comfort from the fact that everyone says that they grow out of it. Has been worse the last few days because of the heat :( You get much better at dealing with the crying.

Thanks clare - I think I need to get baby gaviscon too. She constantly spits up. It's so sad! That is the medicine that I have for Annabelles thrush so fingers crossed it will work soon - out of interest how much did 'you give her a day? The doctor said 1 ml once a day but when they get to a month you can give 4 mls a day. 1 ml didn't seem like a lot though?

Yea Antibiotics do cause nipple thrush BUT the tablet is specifically for it from what I remember. I had to give Saraya nystatin too but I kept giving it back to her until I got the tablet.

We gave her 1ml four times a day and it worked really quickly for her, so 4mls a day. The baby gaviscon has really helped her tummy! Before that she would projectile vomit and it would come out her nose! It was so distressing for the both of us. All we have now is an occassional bit of posseting when she winds!! Massive improvement :)
