Beach Bump Graduates!

Oh a N was only 2 weeks when she first got prescribed 4mls a day of nystatin so they can take more!

Thanks clare - I had a feeling she was being a bit conservative with the amount! I will increase it then. It was one of those times the dr was having to research in a book what to prescribe! Always fills 'you with confidence :)

Hann and SB, hope the infection clears up.

About the crying, it is so tough to hear it sometimes. I usually know what will make her happy, but once in a while she cries when she's overtired. Last time I gave up and let her cry and she went to sleep within minutes.

Tomorrow we're leaving her for the first time to go out to dinner for our anniversary. I'm so nervous about it. Her grandparents will be watching her and I'm sure she'll be fine, but I can't help but worry. My biggest concern is whether I will be able to pump enough milk to leave with her.

Morning all. Soph slept for a phenomenal 7 hours last night, woke at 6, fed for 5 minutes then went back to sleep. Shes still there now, love her. As it was sooo long between feeds I decided to try and express a bottle for the first time. I got 4.5oz in 10 minutes - am so proud, that's my first ever bottle of EBM! I could have got more as that was only one boob and it was still flowing quickly, I just ran out of room in the bottle. i now have much less concern over my supply.

Hope everyone is well. Hann, Soph spits up at every feed too. As long as its not a proper projectile puke or obviously causing her pain every feed its pretty normal x

BV happy anniversary! I hope you have a good evening xxx

Morning, linds am sooo jealous. Wish Ajay would sleep for seven hours!

Quick question - Neel usually doesthe last feed at say 10 pm sometimes later then Ajay always plays up a bit and he brings him to bed at say 12-1. I do the feed at 2-3 and then 6-7 which means I never get unbroken sleep. Neel tends to get 6-9 hors unbroken every night. I'm exhausted now - is it unfair of me to ask him to do the middle f te night feed once? It would mean that I might be able to get some consecutive hours sleep!

Also Ajay in the last two nights has turned into a really noisey sleeper. He is constantly waking me up with moaning and groaning - all sounds normal stretching etc. Has anyone else found this as they get older? He is keeping me awake too!

anyway he is a good sleeper - he sleeps after the middle of the night feed and afte the 7 am feed this morning he has gone back to sleep so I can't complain.

When typically will he start to sleep for longer?

Caz speak to Georgie I know Joshy is a mosey sleeper! N snores a little bit but nothing major. I think it's perfectly fair to ask Neel to do the night feeds now and then. D use to help me but I found I would be awake anyway as I'm such a light sleeper.

N has only just started to sleep for longer periods recently! I think it's just age plus she has started taking 5oz at bedtime so gies longer as her tummy is fuller!

Please excuse typos on phone. *noisey not mosey :)

Not to worry you, but Audrey didn't sleep through the night until she was almost two!! But that is unusual. I think you just get used to the unbroken sleep and I think I learned to feed her and sleep simultaneously!!! As for max, he only sleeps for about two hours and then feeds for an hour. But i'm getting used to it.

Don't forget ladies...if you don't want to use medications for thrush try the white vinegar wash... It's working for me! 1 capful white vinegar to 250ml of water...wash your nipples after every feed and let air dry...also put a bit of vinegar in the wash when you wash your bras, and put the solution on anything that goes in babies mouth. I swear to god it's amazing!!!

Thanks Jenni I might try that too - I'll check out the shop for White vinegar.

Caz - def ask him to do the night feed! It's not unreasonable for him to do it once a week even. Maybe suggest a friday night?

Linds - very jealous of the sleepbut also jealous of the milk production! I expressed this morning and only got 1 ounce from my right and 2 frommy left. That's rubbish isn't it?! How can I get more our? Just regular expressing? Also if I have the 3 ounces I assume they can go in the same bottle? What about if I then got another 2 ounces a couple of hours later, could I pour that 2 into the bottle with 3 ounces? I assume so as it's all the same thing but wanted to double check. Sorry if these are stupid questions!

I did when I was expressing that's how I built up my fridge supply to save me from being permanently attached to the pump. N was always alright.

Thanks clare - its all the same stuff so I would imagine it's fine to mix it!

Caz I think it's perfectly fine for you to ask Neel to do some night feeds now and then. You'll go insane otherwise! Paul and I are taking it in turns at the mo, although he's not back at work yet so I guess it'll be a bit different then. Sounds like Ajay is sleeping really well though! :happydance:

Linds - well done soph! What a trooper.

BV - happy anniversary, hope you have a great night. Try to enjoy yourself and not worry!

Jen I'll def bear in mind the white wine vinegar tip, seems like thrush is pretty common.

Xx

Hann it's fine to mix it as long as you keep it stored properly in the fridge or freezer! Also expressing is not an accurate way to tell how much you have in your boobs because a child will always be better at expressing than a pump and some people find that pumps just don't work effectively on them so don't use it as a measurement x

Linds apparently even projectile is fine as long as it's not every feed. Atticus projectiles normally every 1-2 days sometimes more than once a day but the MW doesn't think it's reflux because it doesn't show any other symptoms of it.

MW just visited... My little lion has gained 3oz since birth - at 10 days old! He is now 8lbs 15. What a little fatty. :cloud9:

hi all

sorry been a bit awol but a bit sleep deprived and logan has been feeding almost constantly for the past few days. had him weighed last tuesday and he had gone up to 10lb 1.5oz which was a gain of 13.5 oz in one week, little chubster!!! He has now grown out of all his newborn stuff. Had a bit of a killer night thursday as he was feeding for an hour then sleeping for an hour thankfully he now seems to be to sleep for two and feed for one, so goodness only knows what he will weigh in next time.

He has now just nodded off so am going to try and get some ironing done. Will try and get on more regularly but am reading how you are all getting on even if not getting a chance to post.

Britt, I am SOOOO sorry to hear... you and your LO are in my thoughts.

Congrats to Emee!! Our last beach bump has arrived!!

We picked Jillian because it's semi-traditional and people know how to spell it and pronounce it, but it's not on the top list of popular names. Plus, I haven't had any students named Jillian. I also liked Julia, but we knew too many Julias. Audrey was also on my list, but my husband didn't go for it. Part of me wanted to go with something unusual and unique, but sometimes it's so hard on students to have to say over and over how to spell their names and correct how people pronounce it.

It is funny how popular Jillian is on this thread!

We actually had a completely different girls name chosen, but I had a dream one night that we had a baby girl and named her Jillian. I woke up right after the dream at like 3AM and woke up DH to tell him. We both agreed that we REALLY liked the name, so Jillian it was.

Her middle name, Audrey, was my grandma's first name. She passed away last May.

AFM, Jill is doing great! We had her 1 week doctor's appointment Thursday and she is back above her birthweight already, which I am thrilled about. Breastfeeding is going really well, too. Unfortunately, she seems to have her days and nights mixed up so she's wide-eyed and alert until ~3am, which isn't fun for anyone! Luckily, we've had my mom here this week and will have my inlaws and some close friends in to help in the following weeks so it's not so daunting.

I have also been feeling super-emotional and have been crying at the drop of a hat... I assume it's the baby blues and lack of sleep. I have felt loads better the past few days, so I'm hoping that means it's passing!

I probably won't be posting much in the next few weeks... but I'll be lurking. Cheers!

Hi all...there is a thread in third tri regarding Britt and Kinley :flower:
