Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

 I'm not sure if I am allowed to join here or not. :flower:
I have been combined feeding Connor since he was two days old. In the hospital he wouldn't latch and he had jaundice so they had to give him formula. I started pumping in the hospital and continued at home. I was so tired at home, I had trouble pumping as often as I should so my milk never came in fully. Connor learned to latch at 6 weeks, but by then I was back at work full time, and only have time to pump twice a day a work. We have faced many problems, and I still hate having to supplement him with formula, but I love breastfeeding him whenever I can.
Right now on weekdays he has two breastfeeds, one bottle of EBM and two bottles of formula. On the weekends when I am home with him, he breastfeeds all day with just one bottle of formula at night.
I planned to breastfeed until he is at least one, but hopefully go beyond that.

Your most definitely welcome hun!! I say any amount of breastmilk is better than no amount. Congrats on your recent 7 month milestone!! :happydance:

Of course you're welcome Kel! Come on in and make yourself at home! :hi: Congratulations on your 7 month milestone, too!

And a little cheer for us - 20 month BF milestone yesterday!

:hi: and welcome Kel! :) Congrats on going for 7 months and counting! Like Cleckner said, any amount is better than none! Great work!

Congratulations!!!!

I'm so proud of Kayleigh! During the day lately I can put her down in her crib, give her scout (puppy who plays lullabys and nature sounds) and she will chat a few minutes and fall asleep  She is in there right now turned around chatting and kicking the rails, so she might not do it on her own today... lol but she has been doing great during the day! Night time, another story. She will wake like every 30 minutes and only settle once daddy cuddles her! I'm thinking it's teeth, or a big developemental growth spurt as she has been doing a lot more the past week!

I never thought I would get this far with breastfeeding and I'm so glad I did/am! Kayleigh isn't a sick baby which is great! All over facebook my friends have/had sick babies! Some a few times in a few months! GO BOOBIE JUICE!! haha!

Go Kayleigh! That is fantastic!!!! Alyssa just started going to sleep on her own the past 2 nights -- at 20 months old! Here's hoping it's the start of a good thing like it is for Kayleigh.

I know what you mean about sick babies - Alyssa's had 1 cold in her whole life. That's all. GO BOOBIE JUICE!!!!!!

William had the sniffles once and it was for a few hours, woke up next day and he was fine. Never any other probs at all not even a nappy rash.

Ditto! Never a nappy rash here either. Gosh - Mummy milk is amazing stuff!
xx

yet so many say it makes no difference :( I see it in here all the time. And i believe it does.

I think it makes a world of difference!

If only the general public would realize breast is NOT best... it's NORMAL, things would improve I think.

I believe it makes your baby how it should be nothing more or less just how we are all meant to be. It helps any baby thats born, sick babies benefit from it and could be worse without it except I hear when a sick baby is born they blame breastmilk for not making it totally fit. Could be worse could not have breastmilk. I think more benefits come from long term also, course you get it however long at the start some go for but the longer the better for both mum and baby.

Yup! I do believe BM makes babies the way they should be too :) Kayleigh is healthy, not sick, content etc... :) Boobie Juice Rocks! lol

Even though Connor isn't exclusivly breastfed, he has never been sick, He is the happiest, most content baby I know. I'm so glad I have stuck with it, and I love that I am giving him as much boobie juice as I can.

Harry's had 2 colds, a sticky eye thanks to one of my nephews & 2 ear infections (caused by going swimming everyday which in hindsight was far too much for how little he was) back in the early days (pre-4 months old), but since then has been happy & healthy. He doesn't appear to have any allergies, has never suffered from constipation or anything, and had the teeniest little spot of nappy rash once, which cleared up again 24hrs later, which was more to do with teething than anything else....
I defo think BFing has helped him & given him a good start to life
I get annoyed when people say 'oh but formula has special immune system boosters in it too!' Yeah, it may well do, but they aren't natural & will probably contribute to bugs becoming even more resistent to man-made medicines & stuff imo.... obviously that's only my opinion, but anyways.... !

The little ones I'm babysitting are here for the night, and one has a runny nose... I am so hoping we don't get it! You watch Kayleigh will end up sick now... lol
