Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

Evening :flower: Evie is tucked up in bed but i can see her clapping, yes clapping (its her new 'thing') on her monitor so its only a matter of time before ill have to pop back upstairs to resettle her lol

Been reading back on your posts ladies and i actually wandered into 3rd tri tonight and saw 3 locked posts, there really is no need to provoke things like that and to hae ago at Wobbles?! tut tut

Hope you had a great christmas? :)

Im so so proud of Evie she was brilliant! Had a little fuss yesterday evening as she was getting a little over tired but i couldnt have asked for more from her she is sucha little star

I was wondering if anyone had tips on blocked ducts? I THINK i have one. Ive got a lump in my right boob that feels like a bruise to touch and is hard. Evie deosnt seem to want to feed much from that side.
Its so sore any tips to ease it until i can see the doc tmw?

Also, my supply is still crazy even 8 months on i get over filled breasts is there anything i can do or is that just the wy my body works?

Thanks in advance and Evie has gone back to sleep.... maybe she was sleep clapping lol
xx

I seen it got locked and I was glad to find out it wasn't from what I said... I hope. I was/am pissed that someone first of all would recommend a book like she did, one where it's been known to cause babies to have failure to thrive, and say swatting a 6 month old is okay to do. I stand by my statement of having it banned as I know other things are all hush hush like... well you ladies know but a book can be discussed and recommended which clearly advises on abuse! Ugh... moronic :dohh:

Anyways enough of that, as you might see in babyclub, Kayleigh has pneumonia :( Here is the link. https://www.babyandbump.com/baby-club/494234-my-baby-girl-has-pneumonia.html

No blocked ducts here... but Kayleigh has been feeding less, so I am going to knock on wood after typing this.

edited to add-
Wow, with supply! Mine is meh... I've always had enough, but never felt engorged or "full". I used to leak and feel the letdowns but once supply regulated I feel nothing. I hold lots in there I guess :hehe: does breast size matter I wonder?

Anyone know if there's a growth spurt about now?

I've been putting it down to H being off colour with a cold/sore ears... but the last couple of days shes been asking for milk just about constantly. (She signs and has a mmmm? noise for milk... also very recently taken to pulling at my top to try and help herself :dohh:)

i just posted on your thread Mum2J&Kx2 - hope she is ok :hugs:

I dont really read 'parenting' books but i do like the Dr Sears website ;) very much my way of thinking and parenting without me knowing it.

Regarding supply, me boobs were a pathetic 32 A before pregnancy and are now 32 DD

Still need breast pads as when she feeds the other boob will start too!

Once Evie has drained one boob she hardly ever takes the other side so im constantly walking around with one deflated boob and one melon! :dohh:

xx

Haven't been there yet, but I do know that some babies when they don't feel well want to nurse loads, and others (like Kayleigh right now) wants nothing to do with it all. Physically I though after 12 months they didn't grow as much or have growth spurts like younger babies, but I guess it's not just physical ykwim? If H is going through a big developmental jump, some extra booby juice might be needed? I don't even know if I am making sense lol :dohh:

Thanks hun! xx
I don't read many either, but have heard lots about those books from others... not a good thing to read IMO.

Oh wow, I didn't know they could jump that far up the size charts from bfing! Mine are a 42DD and I know I should be in an E at least... as they were the same size before (bra, not actual size). I haven't used breast pads in months! I don't leak while feeding anymore and can sleep and everything fine without the breast pads... you are a milk machine! :haha:

mine went from DD cup to F :O lol

Ever since Alex has been born I have had random direaha :( I dont know why but get dizzy spells to.

Not sure about the diarrhea but do you have low BP?

My blood pressure was very low in pregnancy and i fainted quite a few times.

Even now its still low and i get heady when i stand up too quick or if i havnt eaten in a little while
xx

Damn, I only got reading up to page 6 of that thread and now it's gone.
Think it might be my fault for reporting a couple of posts which mentioned GF's book

not pregnant though. not sure about BP thought it was low iron. I get no warning with this and disbr seem to be anything I am eating as i have been watching what i eat to see whats doing it. I thought ibs but dont know. something is not working right in me.

Are you not allowed to mention parenting books?

Ive only read Gill Rapley BLW book! lol

what books?

Remember some of the books you were talking about before about smacking an infant on the bottom of their feet because it hurts more, even babies around 6 months? They sound like those kind of people!

I always forget to check this thread :dohh:

Hi girls

Miss_Bump - I'm the same, still have to wear pads or my bra will get soaked while I'm feeding. Pain in the but!

Seraphim - I read that kids have random growth spurts right up until late teenage years ( hence my cousin's 5 year old boy growing out of his trousers over night, and me getting stretch marks on my thighs when I was 13!)

ok thats angers me ! really pisses me off. where is this being discussed? oh god do I wamt to know as I am angry over babies being hurt. who hurts a baby?!

i googled
Women who have just given birth are particularly vulnerable to constipation and diarrhea. That's because women have more progesterone in their systems after giving birth, which slows down peristalsis (contractions in the intestine). "If people are nursing their babies, they are releasing prolactin, and that's also nature's relaxing hormones," she says. "It relaxes the smooth muscles of the colon."

It was a book like that, under investigation or whatever because babies were being diagnosed with failure to thrive and dehydration. Thread is closed now but the book is babywise or something like that, about routine... things like your baby will learn if you do not feed them again until next feeding time (if they do not finish scheduled feed etc...) You commented in the thread I believe... they were mad at you about demand/routine feeding. This person didn't say she thought it was okay to hurt a baby, she said she, or her sister (never did get the reply) even did the smacking in the book (which in the book states 6 months and up I guess)... I asked if she did it or her sister, as she said she followed the book with kids she nannied... thread is locked in third tri now...

CocoaOne - im glad its not just me, i dont dare let DH go near them as any stimulation make then go!!

Mum2J&Kx2/DragonFly - That book sounds AWFUL!!! How on earth did it ever get published and why would anyone want to buy it!?? Babies need love and stability, not physical punishment :(

DragonFly - i was very constipated after i gave birth

btw... if anyone wants to add me on facebook
https://en-gb.facebook.com/people/Vicky-Armstrong/512263810

its nice to have BF friends as i havnt got any :( just let me know who you are as i get a few random weirdos requesting me lol
xx

added you.

I was in thread bit never read that book so dont know whats in it. I have no respect fir anyone that harm babies!

I have no respect for anyone who thinks leaving your baby alone, to cry to eliminate feeds or any kind of punishment or lack of snuggles will help them... it just won't! I couldn't imagine having my baby cry for 20 minutes because it wasn't time for a feed yet, or letting them go hungry as a punishment for not finishing a bottle... I guess that book has that in there, maybe some good tips too, but well... no amount of good could outweigh that bad! Ick!

I will add you too! :)
