Breastfeeding Support - 6 months and beyond!

I was thinking about it but I would have to do it in the spring as it's only monthly, and 45+ minutes away, and dark so damn early here. I can't drive at night, and I don't have experience in the winter driving here. I am actually thinking of becoming a member of LLL canada :)

I wish we had LLL here in my town, but we don't. :nope: Very few seem to BF here, let alone Extended BFing. :sigh:

Cleck, I love the names Ava, Emma, and Sophia. I've always loved Emma. But all those names had to be crossed off the list due to current popularity --all top 10 or so for the last few years. :brat: Also love the name Eve/Evie and considered Evelynn for our DD, but DH said no way. :dohh: Just as well, I love her name now. :cloud9: And it definitely won't be finding it's way into any top 1000 anytime soon, let alone top 10. haha!

I also had the same problem with Otter -- he would have been Jackson if it weren't so popular right now. :dohh: I even freaked out when the 2009 names result came out and Lincoln had jumped from like 780 to about 200. :haha:

I didn't even realize the name sophia was so popular until after the fact. Emma's middle name comes from her great-great grandmother. It's a shame her name is so popular but I had it planned for years. :dohh: Oddly though, I don't know a single person named Emma or anyone's child for that matter so it isn't popular with people I know. I know so many people that have named their kids madison/addison. I would've thought those would be the top names right now. I know 3 kids that have recently been named madison. And 1 addison. A cousin would've named her kid addison too if she had a girl but ended up with a boy named Hayden. Which seems to be equally popular right now.

I had to look at your journal to see what MKs name was. :rofl: I'm just so used to everyone referring to her as meerkat that I hadn't even noticed what her actual name was.

:rofl: Yeah, I don't use her actual name here very often. Just DK now for short (Devereux Korin - we call her Devi or Reux). Just like I don't use Otter's real name (Lincoln Darius). Devereux is after her great-great grandmother (on her dad's side). Her name was Ella Devereux and those names are traditionally passed down in the family. DK already has a second cousin (4 yo) named Ella, otherwise she would have been Ella. Korin is my sister's name.

Addison and Madison are both now in the top 10 or so for the US. It seems names seem to have explosions in popularity. Hayden is super popular with people I know, too. Naming kids is such a challenge. Neither of our kids were named until they were over a day old and the hospital demanded names so they could discharge us. :haha:

Top 10 Names for 2009 (for the US)
Rank Male name Female name
1 Jacob Isabella
2 Ethan Emma
3 Michael Olivia
4 Alexander Sophia
5 William Ava
6 Joshua Emily
7 Daniel Madison
8 Jayden Abigail
9 Noah Chloe
10 Anthony Mia

Addison was 11 in 2007 and 12 in both 2008 and 2009.

The top 6 for girls there are all names I love and would have considered if not for their rank!

Alexander was also one we would have considered for Otter if he didn't already have a cousin named Alexandra and it wasn't so popular. Jackson was ranked 25.

Tables don't seem to copy and paste well. :haha: But you can figure it out. First column boys name, second girls name.

I was walking around castle breastfeeding Alex today, Got my lunch and all there. Was nice. But since its somoenes personal home i dont want to post and i dont want my landlord knowing i was in his house but it was family and staff we where with. his parrot is mental! near took my head off a few times. and I breastfeed in front of everyone, not a bother with them. my mum would be freaking and sending me to the loo to do that. I am pretty sure i am not the only woman who ever breastfed in there :) such a nice place.

What's funny is on that table Ethan and Emma are beside each other. If we were to have a boy his name woulda been Ethan. :haha: Still will be if we have a boy ever. I'm not too fussed about names being in the top ranks. I tend to choose classic names that have been around for a really long time and those just happen to be popular right now. Go figure. :haha:

Edit to add: I'm just glad Ashley isn't popular anymore. I swear I went to school with like 20 ashley's and ashlee's and ashleigh's. :rofl:

Ashley is a very 80s name... Ashley, Jennifer, Amanda... a zillion of those in my school. LOL

Oh yes! I forgot about Amanda. There was quite a few of those too. I guess that'll be Emma when she's older. :rofl:

My name is Samantha. And my middle name is Jo. My mom thought she was so unique using Jo as a middle name because it was part of her name(Jodi). But I went to school with TWO other samantha jo's. :dohh: Which doesn't sound like a lot but I went to a school in a town of only 800 people. So our classes were only 60 people at the most.

Here are the UK top 10 names for 2009

The most popular baby names in 2009 are for boys:
1 Oliver;
2 Jack;
3 Harry;
4 Alfie;
5 Joshua;
6 Thomas;
7 Charlie;
8 William;
9 James;
10 Daniel.

For girls:
1 Olivia;
2 Ruby;
3 Chloe;
4 Emily;
5 Sophie;
6 Jessica;
7 Grace;
8 Lily;
9 Amelia;
10 Evie

So a few differences!

I love Grace, too! I think Gracie is an adorable nickname for a little girl.

Tigerlady, I love your names! Unique and nice! I grew up just outside of Lincoln and love the name :)

I have a friend who has two little girls, Morgan and Gracie (Gracie on the BC) and I love it, pretty little girls too!
Jacob wasn't so popular when I had him but that was 8 yrs ago, and it's so funny because his sperm donor and his new gf just had a baby and her name is Isabella. Her older daughter is named Kayleigh, and older son Cody. I felt like they would think I copied them with the name and when they asked about it I explained Kayleigh Ella was picked 4 yrs ago... before we ever met. Kaleb was going to be Kayleigh ;) I love the name Kayleigh Ella Rose. Ella reminds me of a princess and it was Mark's late grandmothers name, Rose is his other grandmother and my grandmother and mom is Kay and Leigh (Moms middle name). Probably explained this before but can't remember. I love the names William and Alexander too. William was one of Kaleb's middle names. He was Kaleb William Edward.

I don't think my name (Fleur) will ever make the top 10 list! :rofl: So many kids here are called Harry, but I loved the name so much & it fits him perfectly, so i dont care, hehe! If I ever have a girl, I really like the names Madelyn & Daisy. For a boy I love the Welsh names Taliesyn (pronounced tally-essin) & Merrin, but I think here in England, people would think they were weird or something?

TL & Eve- I always hated my middle name (Eveline) growing up, but now it seems really popular & actually sounds really pretty!

How's everyone doing? harry bit me for the first time yesterday- hurt soooo much that i actually scremed & kneed him in the back of the head! :blush: Hopefully he wont do it again in a hurry! :dohh: Tomorrow is our 15 months BFing milestone :thumbup:

Tigerlady - you have to name the baby before they let you leave hospital??! We get 6 weeks to do that here!

Mum2j&kx2 - kaleb looks so lovely in that picture :hugs:

Eve -- I didn't realize your name! Love it. :D That picture of Kaleb is so lovely -- he's adorable. Floaty kisses :kiss: for him!

FB, sorry you got bit! :dohh: Thats always awful. The first time Otter did it to me, I screamed so loud and flew up off the bed so fast (we were nursing side by side) that I scared poor Otter and he started screaming and crying. :cry:

Congrats on 15 months!! :flower:

I think, technically, you don't HAVE to name them. But they really push you to. And you have to do something... even if it is just calling them "baby" and then go through all the name change stuff later. :dohh:

Thank you ladies :) He was one handsome little baby :)
Flora- I love the name spelled Eveline, sounds and look pretty to me :flower: and I've not been bitten yet, but I find since K's top teeth are coming through it hurts a little when she feeds sometimes... grazing or dragging maybe?

Oh Eve- :cry: I've said it before but he is just SO beautiful. :hugs::hugs:

Flora- I LOL at you kneeing him in the back of the head. :rofl: I bet that'll stop him from doing it anytime soon. Congrats on 15 months!!! :dance:
