First Time Mommies Due February 2016 - Anyone Want to Join Me?

Hi Ladies!!

Jealousy hit me hard now! Sleeping all day, all morning or all afternoon sound like a dream!!!!!!
I work full time, so I take a nap when I get home, and weekends, but how nice to sleep all you want when you want!!! haha

Glad to hear everybody is doing fine and some of us are almost through 1st trimester!! I feel time is going so slow, though!

Ok, so I ended up not calling the doctor. I figured the first spot was due to having sex the day before and the second, because I guess I worked too hard doing number 2. Sorry, I'm having a little bit of constipation... Sorry for the TMI. and I haven't spot since, if I had continued, I would've called right a way, but it was only those 2 times, not even 2 days, once 1 day, and once the other day.

I bought a doppler online and USPS lost it... it shows as delivered, but it was not. So the supplier is sending me a new one.

Just wanted to put something out there!
Ladies, check your benefits and coverages with your insurance provider! At least here in South Florida the practice is to bill you first and ask questions later! My prenatal appointments are 100% covered, and the lady wanted to start charging me towards my deductible. And wanted to use up this year deductible for the prenatal and everything else, and next year for labor! Luckily I had done my research and told her NO.

Panda: was it you who did the blood test to find out the gender? When you get the results?

Oh, and AFM, my ms is a looot better and brushing my teeth is better too!

Thanks for the heads up, Pri. I'm going to double check our prenatal visit coverage now because we have a horrific deductible! I don't know what we were thinking when we chose our plan.

Pri: I'm glad no more spotting. Def sex and constipation can do that. I've had each happen once. I called doc after it happened from sex because I am RH- so was worried I might need shot, but she said not to worry if it's just a few spots after sex because it's just a soft cervix. Only a concern if spotting continues.

AFM: I've got another migraine. I read that headaches are common between weeks 10 and 12 due to hormone changes as the placenta takes over (and I think going off fertility hormones probably made it worse) and especially if you are prone to them. Fortunately, I only got sick once when I woke up and then I've been able to eat fine all day. Just really suck-y headache so I hope it goes away quickly. I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones who stops getting headaches once the 2nd trimester comes.

Ugh . . . so the migraine lasted through today and last night I woke up at 2am and the vomitting started every 2 hours even if I just took sip of water. I couldn't even keep water down for 10 hours. The doc said as long as I keep drinking the water and got some food into me it's okay, but I def am worried the baby is okay. I finally did get food to stay down and I'm feeling a lot better now, but I feel drained and thinner like I've had the flu. I'm hoping all is well at my appts this week.

A little nervous that I also didn't get a call yet about my blood test. The nurse said one week. I googled the test and they said results can take 10 to 14 days, but Monday would be 14 days so it seems likely they should have called. Now I'm worried that they are waiting for the doc to tell me something is off? I guess I'm being paranoid, but I don't know why she told me it would only take a week and then I haven't heard anything.

Ugh, I am so sorry Panda. I had a severe issue with migraines for about seven years. To the extent that I dropped out of grad school and stopped working (although I had some other factors contributing to those decisions as well). I would throw up for days at a time and it was on a weekly basis. I started trying everything out of desperation. I went to a chiropractor. It didn't help the first time. I tried another and they got progressively better to the point where I didn't take anymore medication and haven't had one in about a year. Maybe it might benefit you as well.

Have you thought about going to urgent care? They would almost certainly give you fluids (it's kind of their go-to if they don't know what else to do), which would not only rehydrate you but maybe it would stop a cyclical migraine. Just tell them you can't drink water and exaggerate if you have to. Once you get dehydrated, they're hard to stop.

Maybe the lab or doctor's office is backed up. Put in a call and ask. Sometimes they don't put you at the top of the list to call if there isn't any bad news. I hope things get better!!

Thanks for the info, AnnieMac! I have not tried a chiropractic. That might be worth it. I had my teeth fixed (just did invisalign) and that helped a lot so I hadn't been getting migraines the past few years as long as I wear my retainer, but they've come back with a vengeance during this pregnancy and the retainer doesn't seem to help so it's gotta just be hormones. I've always been sensitive (like for BC I couldn't take the pill, I had to use Nuvaring)

I think the fluids would def have helped. I will certainly try that next time. I went to the ER once for a terrible migraine and they gave me a shot that actually made it worse so I have avoided that . . but I think if I asked for just fluids that would be helpful.

Thankfully, I'm fine today except I feel very raw from being sick. No bad signs of cramping or spotting so I'm gonna hope everything will look okay at my scan on Wed.

Panda- Migraines are the worst! I hope they start getting better for you. I have been having some pretty bad headaches myself, not quite as bad as a migraines though. Mine have a lot to do with allergies I think.

I would def second the suggestion of a chiropractor. A few years back I was in an accident where the guy hit me from behind. After that I was getting migraines all the time. Nothing was helping. I went and he figured out that I had popped a bone in the top of my spine out of socket.

Also, that sucks they haven't called back with the results of your blood test. Maybe call them if they don't call by today?

I hope everyone else is doing well!! :)

AFM: Just awaiting my first appt. not at my fertility clinic. I go in on Wednesday. It won't include a u/s. :( But hopefully they will at least check little beans heartbeat. I am not going to lie that I have been worrying like crazy! I am not showing and having hardly any symptoms. I just want to know all is well in there.

Thanks for the info, Jules! It's interesting both of you had luck with chiropractors.

Congrats also graduating to your first regular appt! I think they should be able to do doppler easily now at the office now that we are week 12.

Congrats to you too! I feel like the weeks are flying by now! :)

Just out of curiosity, what week do you guys count as 2nd trimester? My app says that 12 weeks is 2nd trimester, my book says 13 week, and my doctor said 14. I was just wondering as I am starting to feel out of place in the 1st trimester.

Panda: I'm so sorry for all the migraine and feeling sick...
Glad you are feeling better and def call the doctor if you dont hear from them today, or if you feel sick again or more migraines, but let's hope NOT
:hugs:

Jules:
I dont have symptoms either, but my boobs are huge, and pants dont fit anymore. They say as you approach the 2nd trimester the symptoms pretty much go away. It is the best of the 3 trimesters

My app counts you start on your second once you start your week 13.
for me it makes sense, 12 weeks / 4 = 3 months

AFM: the little nausea I felt the past 2 weeks are gone! I've been brushing my teeth without gagging! Happy about that!! :happydance:
Next appt only in September now...

I also thought 2nd trimester started at week 13 (end of week 12) based on my app and most websites. I have 2 books though and one says "you are now in the 2nd trimester" at week 14. Confusing.

The trimesters kind of confuse me too... I've just going by dividing it all equally into thirds. So 13w3d would be second trimester.
Which is coming up quick for me. I really hope they're right when they say symptoms start to disappear in the second. The past week my nausea has gotten worse. Last Wednesday and this morning I puked. Only two times for me thankfully. But it was early morning before I could eat anything, so it was all just stomach bile and water which is horrible. :(

Hi all!

Had my first obgyn appt. All was well. DNA (maternit21) test came back normal  and we have gender but I don't know it yet. Attached is a pic of THE ENVELOPE. Waiting for hubby to get home to see what's inside!!!!

She did do a doppler and heartbeat sounded strong at 169! Such a relief, I've been so silly being worried.

Some tips from my doc: For nausea take vit b6 25mg 3x per day and also can take unisom at night 100mg. Also, try eating hummus, beans, or eggs as those types of protein can help.

For headaches. Take tylenol with a cup of coffee. Small amount of caffeine is safe.

Tomorrow is my NT scan. A little nervous, but so much more relaxed after hearing heartbeat and getting blood results.

How did you get the gender? Did you have to pay extra?

That is super exciting!!! I can't wait to know. :)

Thank you for the tips :)

Fading: I'm so sorry for you... the bile is worst thing :(
It happened to me once (not during pregnancy) and I hated it to much!
Hope you feel better soon!
According to my app, only 1% of women continue with the nausea throughout pregnancy! And we are NOT on this 1% haha
But heartburn should be a "common" thing throughout.

Panda: good to hear all is fine and baby has a strong heartbeat!! exciting! How are you holding off with a sealed envelope looking at you? I will more than likely have to do the same. Hubby might not be able to go with me, as his boss is a complicated guy and he already came with me twice, we have a mini vacation coming in October, so he doesnt want to miss much more days too soon.. So I will probably come home with a sealed envelope too... But I still have 1 month of wait

The NT scan is fun, because it takes a little while so you get to see the baby for a long time, hear the heartbeat again! you will be fine!! Just the blood work they do later is not fun ....

AFM: Got MS this morning and puked breakfast... I'm eating some crackers now.... other than that, I'm fine!

Panda: Sooooo excited for you!!! the first one here to learn the gender!
Are going to tell us, or keep it a secret??

Hi everyone, it's a boy!!! :happydance:

We are going to try not to spill the beans to everyone until Thanksgiving. So you guys know before my family, lol.

I was def picturing a girl at first, so it was a little weird except this whole week I've been sure it was going to be a boy and then there it was.

I'm very excited and in some ways feel less pressure and a little more mystery about it as I'm wrapping my head around the idea. Very excited to start to shape this little person in my head :) We are already talking about name ideas.

Hi Panda!!!
so exciting!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!
How nice!!!
We have our first gender review on the group!!!!! Yay!!!!
Things are progressing!!! :happydance:

Happy for you!!!!!

Congratulations, Panda. How fun to know already!!

Can you elect to find out the sex through a blood test? My doctor never mentioned that possibility, but I would definitely love to find out.

Yay for the first boy in our group! That is super exciting! I am jealous you get to start shopping for non- neutral gender items. lol
